What about saving the bamboo?** A: I can tell you that about 10 years ago a friend planted a small bamboo tree in my back yard, and now it looks like I have a bamboo nursery. I cannot cut it down fast enough! **Q: Why can't you use cloth instead of these products - how's this better?** A: Sure you can. These can be used for some time. Very soft. Then wash them. Use like a paper towel but then don't toss. Just rinse then use some more. Then run thru laundry. They will get stains but are usabl. Lots cheaper than cloth. Guess that is main advantage. Price. Plus bamboo is renewable resource. **Q: Are these any good for draining bacon?** A: I have some similar to these, & I find they work well for bacon only if you rinse them really well with hot water immediately after use to get most of the bacon grease out! When I delayed this, the grease wouldn't come out very well later. And I now have a stack of them that are dry but oily feel and bacon smell even after multiple soaks & washes 😝 I wouldn't mind washing them right away except just doing one at a time each time I cook, increases our water bill, which we can't afford =( So for this purpose, I will likely stop using it for bacon. Mine are from Bed Bath & Beyond so these may be different— but I believe they're also bamboo so likely the same. **Q: Is the point to spend less money on paper towels over time, given that you take the time to wash them?** A: Yes. We throw them in with our regular towels to wash. We've used about two rolls of Bambooee for the past year or so. We used to use a roll of paper towels a week. Very absorbent and thick yet still soft on the hands, good for wet dusting and counter wiping ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Soft and absorbent washable bamboo towels *by E***F on July 16, 2024* I was a little skeptical about the actual need for a paper towel replacement that one can wash and reuse a hundred times, but I have to admit these a quite nice to use. Now I don't use these for those chores where the towel comes away greasy and dirty and simply has to be thrown away like after wiping the inside of a sauce pan. But for those times when just drying some fruits or veggies, or sopping up a spilled light liquid and being able to rinse most of the grime off the towel and then putting it aside to wash later, these work very well. Once washed, they are super soft, very absorbent and tough as nails. It takes a great deal of force to try and rip them and I have not been able to even make a small tear in the edge. Like stated, I would not use some of these for ultra messy cleanups. The bamboo towel will take more effort than I want to put into washing it and in those cases I simply use a regular paper towel and throw it away once it's done it's job. But when the job isn't too messy, why not put the bamboo towel aside and accumulate them until you have a wash load and then just keep reusing them.
