## Description

der8auer Intel 9th Gen. OC-Frame

Review: 21c drop in max temp. 15c average drop overall temp (rough estimation) - This thing is awesome, you can tell it is very well engineered and does exactly what its supposed to. But beware, I'm now repairing pins on a motherboard because I (my fault) dropped the original mounting mechanism into the socket when removing. I managed to maintain minus a couple ram channels until i got a new motherboard and am now repairing the other one to put into another build. I'm normally pretty careful and this could happen to anyone just take your time, completely remove the motherboard and you should be fine but hey mistakes can happen. I see massive temperature drops, I am on a custom loop with a 360mm rad cooling the gpu and cpu. I can either run the fans and pump at 30 percent near silent at stock speeds on my 9700k and never go above 61c. Or I can overclock to 5.2ghz and stay below 72c with fans around 50 percent. This is me just being realistic with my numbers not fluffing anything the performance is great I would never be able to do this with the IHS on but I really feel some people exaggerate the real world differences hope this helps!
Review: Surprisingly Great Results vs Delid with IHS Replacement - So, I was feeling adventurous and decided to delid my 9909k (6 months ago). I used the rockit cool kit and replaced the IHS with a pure copper one. We'll, temps only went down, on average, 5-8°c. It's pretty good, but I won the silicon lottery and my chip held solid at 5.3ghz. Problem is, temps got a little too toasty. With the delid, I was averaging 92°c which is doable, but not good long term. In comes this simple little gem. I removed the IHS and the cpu bracket from my mobo and mounted this in it's place. A little liquid metal and remount my EKWB block, everything booted good. I ran three different stress tests, one AIDA 64, prime 95 with avx, and OCCT. It dropped an average of 22°c !!! I could not believe this worked as good. My average temp for stress testing is now 70-75°c and gaming is between 55-68°c recorded with HWinfo. All in all, this is risky. If you don't know what your doing, you could ruin a $500 CPU. To me, (my opinion only) this was more than worth the risk. If you want the best of the best, then this is for you. If you only do a mild overclock or none at all, I would recommend passing on this. My temps being in the low to mid 90's was the determining factor for me doing this. Had my temps been in the mid-80s, I don't think I would have done this.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why is there a picture of an Apple Watch charger?**
A: Amazon broke one of our listings again... At least this time it isn't a photo of neck beard guy.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00780T3D0?ref=myi_title_dp

**Q: is this safe to use with liquid metal? it's aluminum so i worry that the coating is able to withstand direct contact without leaching lm to the frame.**
A: well you always can just install processor with it already covered with metal then you just mount frame, its not safe i guess only if you have scratched surface near crystal itself since frame covered with thicc paint, but yeah if you have pure alum somewhere covered with lm, then lm will destroy it, just a matter of time

**Q: will this work for an i5-9600k?**
A: Firstly, do some research...

yes it's for a 9th gen cpu

**Q: Does this fit the maximus formula motherboard?**
A: Yes it's going to fit any intel motherboard

### ⭐ Could not get my 9900k to boot normally..
*by F***S on January 28, 2023*

I was extremely excited about this frame as I also just purchased the delid die mate 2 to direct die cool my 9900k that I’ve had for almost 4 years. lol I love tinkering with things and have been building computers in my spare time for over a decade and a half. I’m very tech savvy to say the least. But, with THIS mounting frame for some reason, I could NOT get my cpu to mount properly enough to post bios more than stock ram speeds and any attempt to boot windows did not go well. Ended up so frustrated, having to remount this frame and the original, that desTROYED my first motherboard ever.🤦🏻‍♂️ hand slipped and I rammed my screwdriver into the socket.🤬⚰️😪 Wouldn’t have happened I think if the tolerances were maybe a little different or maybe there was a bit more specific information about mounting pressure. The stock IHS is positioned in a manner that really helps make sure the cpu gets pressed evenly into the socket and this is definitely not for the faint of heart. lol 1/5 should not have been that difficult to get it mounted evenly.
