I spent some time researching and these fir the bill - heat & smoke detection, suggested to use in relevant areas (hall and landing), fitted-for-life lithium back up battery and interconnect function (both sound if one is triggered). Much nicer figment than our old ones, with a simple mounting plate into which the alarm model is clipped once secured and wired in. Added bonus than you can access a status report from the alarm via the manufacturers app (SoundLink+).
