I had zero knowledge of programming before I purchased it; you don't need any experience to get started!The thing I was looking forward to the most was getting involved with Swift in mobile development; however, I feel like that chapter went 0-60 way too fast. This type of language is tough to wrap your head around as a beginner, and by the time I got to the game, I didn't feel nearly ready to tackle the code. However, it could just be me needing to run through a few chapters again. It would also be helpful if there were more references to material discussed earlier.All in all, great book and great introduction to the language. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Good (not excellent) book *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2014* Nope. This book gets three stars. Although I'm learning, the book has this literally "spaced out" ("temporarily and physically speaking") in the pages that follow. Ideas are spread out through the paragraphs, fluff is filled in-between the meat of the material and generally speaking, the good stuff, is good, and takes you from begginer to intermediate. But I would like to see more coverage on constrained text input in code.You might like this book. I'm not saying it's not worth the purchase, it is. And you'll learn swift. I just don't like the style. But the book is super accurate and so far, no coding mistakes and will NOT blow the beginner away. The write is caring and thoughful and doesn't give the newbie too much information, too fast. which says a lot about the authors care in crafting the book. There is a linear progression from learning the basics to gaining more knowledge using the book as the sole study guide. It's good. Buy it. But just keep in mind these few caveats. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Good resource for learning, despite typos and odd phraseology throughout *by C***U on Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2015* The book has been a good introduction so far. However, I didn't even get to page 10 without finding typos like, "the Apple developer *Proram*" and, "If your not already a *memory* of the..." Typos happen, and I am lucky to type one of these reviews or a short email without a typo, so I sympathize. But in a reviewed and proof-read work, this is a little off-putting. I worry about the accuracy of the content when I see things like that, especially for someone just learning the material. And for young engineers, it sets a bad example of the importance of accuracy and craftsmanship in their work.
