Awesome tool that really speeds up the sharpening process. Machine is easy to use, consistent and safe. Produces an edge that definitely lasts, but it requires frequent sidewall removal for good results.

I found the swix EVO side edge is a brutal tool if you’re not careful. It’s a small but very powerful grinder that’s hand guided so you can see how things can go wrong if you aren’t fully concentrated on the job at hand. It certainly cuts a new edge very quickly, even with the fine grinding wheel.

I have seen a lot of negative reviews so I felt compelled to add a perspective. I was not paid or ask by anyone to post feedback. That being said this is a great tool that does a phenomenal job edging. If you take your time and watch a few videos on how to use it you will have no issues. I tune 6 pairs of skis frequently and this has saved me TONS of time. I would recommend buying MEDIUM diamond disc for general maintenance and freshening up edges. Discs are a little pricy yes but I spoke to swix personally and those discs should last a few hundred passes depending on the edges. With the average cost to tune skis running $35 this investment payed off for me after my second year doing my family's skis.

Another retailer claims that it would be impossible for even the least skilled tuner to mess up the edges with this thing. I don't know what that makes me but I was able to mess up my edges (old unused skis) on the first pass. This thing chewed some deep gouges in the edges when the power cable snagged on the corner of my Swix tuning table. It chewed another gouge when the table moved the slightest bit from the light side pressure I was applying to the ski base. They aren't little nicks either. They are significant gouges that will require removing a LOT of metal to fix. I was able to do a much better job on the second edge but this thing is far from idiot proof. You need a rock stable tuning table with absolutely no chance of snagging the power cord on anything. Then you need a very stable hand. The fact that the grinding wheel is on a spring does little to prevent edge angle changes if you accidentally tip the edge tuner a tiny bit, which is very easy to do. I got sucked in by the prospect of quickly tuning my family's growing collection of skis but this thing scares me. I'm afraid to try it on my rock skis. I'm not sure I will ever be brave enough to try it on my kid's race skis. I think I will stick to hand tuning.

This tool is a time-saver and lets you do a quick sharpen in a few seconds but for the price point it is at, it most certainly should have come with additional discs to do a proper sharpening job. It comes with one disc that is not sufficient to do anything but polish an already filed and sharpened edge. If you want to have the discs you need, you need three additional ones at an astounding $80 per disc. We are talking about an extremely small disc that should cost a few dollars at most. I find myself having to use my old manual files and diamond stones to get edges repaired, nicks out and properly sharpened. Then, I can use this $325 tool to keep it sharp for a few uses before having to go back to the manual files. It also requires that it is plugged in to use, meaning that its not useful on the slopes, on a tailgate or at races. For that price, it should have come with a rechargeable lithium battery like just about every other cordless device people buy today. Bottom line, Swix is resting on its laurels providing an expensive, outdated and incomplete product at an extremely obnoxious price because they do not have much competition. I would like to see an upstart competitor come in with a cordless device, complete with needed discs at a much more competitive price.

It tuned ski edges very quick. However it polished my ski edges unevenly especially the area where the bindings were mounted.

I ski 50+ days during a season and I like to maintain my skis instead of taking them to a shop. During these past years I used a file with an edge tool, which works well, provided you wear some gloves to protect your hands against the sharp edges. I was intrigued by the Evo Pro Edge so I got one. With a 20% discount it makes the price a little easier to digest. I also ordered different coarseness discs to use with the machine. I know that ski equipment is expensive, but you don't realize how expensive it is until you look at how much you pay for the spare discs. The discs themselves are made of high quality ABS plastic, and the rounded diamond stone looks to be very precisely applied on top. However the stone is just 2mm in height, and with the Evo Pro tool rotating at high speed, a stone will likely be done after maybe 10-15 skis. Also consider that during a regular tune-up you use multiple discs, from the coarsest to the finest, so the costs increase substantially. Overall a great idea, but the consumable spare discs need to be priced much lower for the tool to make sense. The spare discs need to be priced around $25 to compete with the regular 4" diamond stone that Swix sells (~$22).

While it's important to be careful in its use so as to avoid edge damage a well-practiced technician or an amateur who is patient will find this a tremendous timesaver. Having used it on my race skis I am very confident in the outcome and have been impressed with both the quality and accuracy of the grinds I have done.

子供のレーススキー板用に購入しました。結論からすると、非常に良いです。 ただし、付属のファインディスクだと、削れ過ぎるので、エクストラファインディスクを購入しました。ワンシーズンに複数回研ぐ場合は、エクストラファインディスクが良いと思います。ワンシーズンに1回しか研がない場合は、ファインディスクでも良いかもしれません。 あと、使用には、コツがいるので、説明書やswixのYouTube動画をよく確認したほうが良いと思います。

Bought this tool to have my edges result is a better tune. Defitieley does that when you use it correctly. I bought the medium and extra fine to use as I also tune family and friends boards and skis. The motor has an automatic shutdown if it detects too much draw off the motor so nobody should be able to ruin their tune unless that is their goal. For the amount of boards and skis I tune this was worth the investment. For an individual, I do not think I could say the same. Tip. Watch the Swix YouTube video on this product. オフシーズンに購入し、しばらくして開封しましたが、電源が入ったり、入らなかったり、、、。 そう言う物？と理解して使っていましたが、５回ほど使ったところで、全く電源が入らなくなりました。 出品者に連絡し、メーカーへおくり「接点の不具合」で無償修理していただきましたが、往復の送料は、エッヂをメンテに出すくらいの負担が、、。 安価なものではないので、納品直後に、動作試験することをお勧めします。

Super quick and easy way to maintain a critical sharp edge for skiing. It does leave little cross lines on the edge, that racers won't like. Perhaps the ultra fine will remove them. It will also case-harden the metal, making it harder to hand tune afterwards, but also helps reduce wear from skiing. For me, it's a fantastic tool that helps me keep my skis sharp on a regular basis with very minimal work.
