Empty faster in some pots than others, sometimes in one day, sometimes after a week.

My houseplants have never looked so good and been so healthy! I am notorious for killing houseplants. I never know how much or how often to water them. I either over-water or under-water them. But these are perfect, because the plant regulates for itself how much and how fast it requires water. I simply check each one daily, and if it is empty, I refill it. Otherwise, I leave it alone. This is especially great when you have a wide variety of large and small houseplants. For larger plants, I even put in 2 bulbs so that I don’t have to refill them every day and so that the plant won’t die if I leave town for a week without anyone coming over to water them. These are beautiful and don’t detract from the plant by being an eyesore. However, with them being glass, if you drop them, they are likely to crack and won’t work anymore, so you have to be careful with them and make sure that they are secure in the soil so that they don’t fall out. Sometimes if you are too rough putting them in, you can break off the very tip, though they still work well even after this has happened.

The bulbs saved my issue of what to do with the plants for 3 weeks - they looked really good when I came back home. My plants are not that big in size, so I just watered them well and then stick the bulbs in the moist soil. When I came back, the soil was dry but my plants looked perfectly fine. Definitely a recommendation!

I like the way these look and function. The globes are roughly the size of a tennis ball. I am using these with some 10+ year old aloes and umbrella plants. I have found that if the soil in my houseplants is allowed to get dry between refills, the globes can be difficult to reinsert into the hardened soil. Because they are delicate, I use caution when pushing them back into the hardened soil. Also, the globes often get soil stuck inside the stem when they are removed for refilling. I have found that a drinking straw cleaning brush works well to clear the soil out of the stem so it can in turn be rinsed out of the globe.
