Cracks, bad welds, sloppy finish work and poorly fitted to the handle. The head is poorly welded to the eye with visible cracks along the top and bottom edges, the eye is just a piece of steel bent around the handle and sloppily welded together. The eye has gaps and welding splatter that was never cleaned up. The blued finish has blotches, swirls, and a visible weld on the side. It is junk made in India. Spend a little extra and get a truly hand forged hawk made in America. I got an email from the seller asking if I was satisfied, I replied telling them my disappointment and I never heard back from them. ### ⭐ Unsafe and unusable *by R***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2017* I am a American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector, Metalurgist and NQA1 Cwrtified Nuclear inspector, ASNT certified lvl 2 MT and PT and UT. And a member of the Mountain Man Society. Thats to justify what I present here.The axe blade has been broken away from the axe eye. It has been welded back on and poorly done.First photo shows the weld toe of the weld that was missed during grinding. The blade was welded from both sides meaning that this most likely is a butt weld and not complete pentration. This also shows underfill.Second photo shows a slag inclusion and the three unmarked circular areas are most likely pin holes or unground areas of lack of fusion.The third photo shows the offset where the blade was misaligned to the eye and the obvious warp in the blade.This tool is unfit and unsafe for use. The lack of quality in what is supposed to be a throwing blade is shameful if not down right criminal. This could cause harm to the uneducated user. ### ⭐⭐ Would be a good tomahawk for $20. *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2017* I don't do many bad reviews. I'm pretty easy to please, but I cannot get over this product.Like many who will be buying this tomahawk, I was spurred by Wranglerstar's review of it. He got it for $24, but once the video posted the demand pushed the price up to $38. I went for it anyway, due to the well made look that Cody's had. I knew that the edge would be non-existent and the haft would need a good fitting. What Cody's specimen didn't have was what caused me to take off 3 stars.The Handle:Let me start with the good part. I liked the handle. The grain ran at a 45 degree angle to the bit and was finished in a light wax. It does have a bit of heartwood in it, but I don't mind. The fit was good to the top if the eye, but had gaps at the bottom. This is not an uncommon problem on budget hawks. I generally ensure that the head doesn't move during use and not worry too much about it looking perfect.The Head:So mine came the same as Wranglerstar's, with about 1mm flat where the sides should meet to form an edge. I don;t think they intended to complete the edge, but just wanted to establish a bevel. Then things stared going south. The cheeks (sides) of the bit do have a nice rough finish and scale from forging and heat treating, but the top and bottom look like they were ground in the dark. The angle of the grind changes and multiple passes the don't line up. It looks like it was done by angle grinder and is similar to how metal looked when I first used the tool. I thought about trying to grind it flat myself, but considering I paid almost $40, I wanted something better than Cold Steel. This unfortunately is not it. The heads on the Cold Steels, while slathered in paint, are better finished.Overall, if this were to cost $24, I might get one. Might. This would be after getting all the Cold Steel hawks, and all the offerings I like from Crazy Crow Trading Co. If you want something of similar size, weight and style Cold Steel Frontier Hawk. It will cost a few dollars more, but is much better than the hawk I rec'd.
