Be on time, don’t miss class, and turn off your phones. No time for introductions, we start drawing right away. The goal is more rock, less talk, and we communicate only through images. For more than five years the cartoonist Lynda Barry has been an associate professor in the University of Wisconsin–Madison art department and at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, teaching students from all majors, both graduate and undergraduate, how to make comics, how to be creative, how to not think. There is no academic lecture in this classroom. Doodling is enthusiastically encouraged. Making Comics is the follow-up to Barry's bestselling Syllabus , and this time she shares all her comics-making exercises. In a new hand-drawn syllabus detailing her creative curriculum, Barry has students drawing themselves as monsters and superheroes, convincing students who think they can’t draw that they can, and, most important, encouraging them to understand that a daily journal can be anything so long as it is hand drawn. Barry teaches all students and believes everyone and anyone can be creative. At the core of Making Comics is her certainty that creativity is vital to processing the world around us. Barry’s amazing animations and humor since finding her Ernie Pook comics back in the early 1980s. Googled her to find out what she’d been up to lately and was pleased to find out that she teaches people how to create humorous animations and U of Wisconsin. Her “Making Comics” workbook brings us a short version of her workshops. So beautifully written and even spiritual! Lynda teaches us how to be “present” in our world and unleash the creativity and humor within. She takes us on a wonderful journey that brings many smiles along the way! Thank you for sharing your whimsical ways with us, dear Lynda! 🙌 ## Frequently Bought Together - Making Comics - Syllabus: Notes from an Accidental Professor - What It Is --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.sa/products/103861277-making-comics-lynda-barrys-creativity-series](https://www.desertcart.com.sa/products/103861277-making-comics-lynda-barrys-creativity-series) --- *Product available on Desertcart Saudi Arabia* *Store origin: SA* *Last updated: 2026-10-19*
