Karen Pryor is an amazing teacher of communication with animals. I've purchased and read a couple of her dog training books, as well. This book will teach you to train you and your cat to communicate with one another. It is all based on positive reinforcement. My cat responded immediately even though I wasn't always consistent. He would do things to remind me that he is a good boy and deserves a treat. I only had a few months of training my cat before he left us for the big scratching post in the sky. I have since purchased another copy which I gave as a gift to a client who has kitties. I highly recommend owning a copy of this book. It will change your perspective and your relationship with your cat(s).

I’ve only been training my cat for a few weeks so far, so voice-only commands aren’t quite there yet.  But he can “jump up”, “come down”, “turn around (make a circle)”, and “transportín (enter his carrier in Spanish”.He still gets bitey and scratchy, but a little less frequently and less intensely.  We definitely are developing a closer bond, though!

My cat is a very smart kitty but we do not communicate well. Somehow clicker training helps me understand her better. She is 2 years old and seems to be responding well. I have only had started to use this system a couple of weeks ago and we are taking it slow because i never seem to have enough time. but i do try to take 15 minutes a day and devote it to playing and clicking. I already feel myself scolding her less and she seems to love it. This book also seems the easiest to understand as it explains how the cat may react and explains to just be patient and have fun with it, gives you ideas on what to train your cat to do, and it doesn't cost a lot. I have it on my kindle app so i can read it any time. it is very convenient.
