CAP Barbell Olympic Trap Bar and Shrug Bar for Deadlifts

Incredible quality considering the price for this trap bar. I got the 500 lbs version and was expecting relatively thin and light tubing for the price but this is a solid piece of equipment that exceeded my expectations. Additionally the pedestals allow for me to easily slide on my 45 lbs plates. I’m going to use some self sealing silicone tape on the handles to improve the grip. Also when you are assembling try not to use the suggested adjustable wrench shown in the directions and use a 17mm box end wrench to tighten the nuts. I highly recommend tightening the nuts AT LEAST a second time after you’ve assembled because this type of item is going to loosen them due to adding and removing weights plus picking up and setting down the bar. Otherwise just be prepared to check the nuts after the first few uses.

I love this trap bar, I’m a relatively new lifter with some experience and traditional lifts tend to hurt my lower back occasionally. With this trap bar it eliminates all that pain while still targeting those muscles it feels great to use and is really sturdy, just step in and get to lifting. Set up was a cake walk, and I feel every rep. I’ve put 200 on to start and it feels like it can handle a lot more, Great purchase!

This trap bar exceeded my expectations. Super easy to assemble—every hole lined up perfectly, all the hardware was included, and the instructions were clear (not always a given with gym equipment). I almost bought a used one off Facebook, but this was *new* and *cheaper*... and honestly, I’m glad I went this route. The build feels solid and the finish looks great. Only minor complaint: one of the weight sleeves is a little tight with my Rogue plates. If the angle isn’t just right, it takes a little shimmy to get the weight on or off. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting. I've had it for about 6 months in a garage in the humid TN summer. Haven't noticed any rust spots, and also haven't performed any maintenance on it, so it seems to be rust resistant on its own. There is no knurling on the handles. For the price and overall quality, I’d absolutely buy it again—still a great lift for your buck.

General: Very pleased with this bar so far. I bought it becuase I like that the stand allows for ease of loading/unloading plates - I have a home gym but don't have a bar jack and loading/unloading a bunch of plates onto a normal bar gets old. The stand creates a higher grip height (neccessarily because the collars need to be high enough to allow a 45lbs plate to clear the ground while loading). Further, the grips themselves are elevated as well. Net-net, your starting grip position is 3" higher than it would be with an olympic bar with plates resting on the ground. I want to get full depth so I've solved for this by building a small platform that will fit between the plates and it's worked very well - I get ease of loading and unloading, and go to full depth on my lifts. Durability: I'll need to update this as time goes by as I've only been using it for 2 months, but so far, it's holding up very well. I'll go as high as three 45lbs plates on each side and I've not had a single issue - everything is tight and the stand doesn't deform when I'm a little too aggressive in making contact with the ground at the bottom of the lift. Functionality: Obviously works well for deadlift type movements but I also found it great for shrugs, though I would guess that if you're smaller, the hand width you're locked into might make that movement uncormfortable and less efficient. I've also used it for shoulder work as an overhead press by flipping it over. Bottom Line: I have no illusions that this bar will hold up for 10 years given the number of pieces and tube construction. That said, It's made well for what it is and has been so functional for me, that if it only lasted 3-4 years (given the amount of weight I put on it), I would absolutley buy another, given the value.

Very well built trap and deadlift bar by CAP. Great look with the blue and easy to use. Good size and room for anyone. Easy assembly also. This will definitely last. This could easily hold 500 pounds with ease. The feel is spot on.

I have had this bar for almost a year and it has performed perfectly. Keep in mind this is not the solid, one piece bars you may be used to in gyms and as such is not as heavy duty. I don't go extremely heavy so for my use so this bar has been perfect. It comes with rubber stops on each end to prevent the weights from being too close to your hands. I have had no issues with grip space or weight hitting my hands. The handles are smooth so grip can become a problem with heavier weight. Assembly was easy and the parts to the bar are of decent quality, no rust, but do have some sloppy welds. I wouldn't load this bar full and deadlift with uncontrolled drops but I use a barbell for that so I don't have to worry about the welds. For my use it's a good value.

This is a very good trap bar for working out. Was a little hesitant at first but let me tell you don’t be. Very easy to put together and is holding up great. Bar sits nicely off the ground not putting any strain on the back. For the money you can’t go wrong this one.

Really heavy duty bit of kit. Very happy with my purchase I found it much easier than deadlifting no back issues. freed up my Olympic bar for benching. Not difficult to put together just don't get the bolts mixed up. Really glad I got this when I did & at that price. Pukka.

Good hex bar. I use it with Olympic bumper plates and it's just fine. I only go up to about 140kg or so but it's a solid unit and it's clear that it's not going to break. The height is good in that the bumper plates hover just off the ground about 1cm, so you can slide them on and off without having to prop up the bar. Overall would recommend for anyone setting up a home gym.
