All were manufactured by different major companies. In many ways, this Capressso is the best so far: 1) VERY nice, consistent grind which is easy to adjust 2) Very easy to operate, disassemble and clean 3) The grind procedure is fast. Note: Directions state grinding should be limited to 3 minutes at a time. That is not practical for us, so I did 1/2 of a bag (12 minutes), no heat problem. I allowed the Capresso to sit for 20 minutes, then finished the bag's contents. Again, no problem or obvious heating of the Capresso noted. 4) The Capresso is more thoughtfully designed than others we have used. The conical burrs appear to be well designed, bean feed was smooth and maintenance of the grind chamber is pretty easy. We use a dark roast that is rather oily and we had no issues with clogging. 5) Quiet operation with very minimal vibration 6) THE ONE NEGATIVE...From the first 12 cup grind, this unit generated MORE STATIC than any unit I have experienced! The clinging coffee grounds became a problem reinserting the ground coffee container and that area had to be cleaned repeatedly during the grind. also, fair amounts of ground coffee were stuck inside the grind container making emptying messy. Our counter top and the machine were covered with errant coffee particles by the time I finished. I am glad we grind in quantity: I can't imagine going through that mess every day. Very low motor noise - not at all irritating - and could grind coffee at night without waking the household **Q: They say it can grind Turkish, is that true? The last model could barely grind espresso.** A: My wife is from Albania. I bought this grinder for her to make Turkish coffee and espresso. It is marginal for a Turkish grinder. The issue is the consistency of the size of the grounds. On the very finest setting, many grounds are as fine as powder, however there is great variance. At the bottom of the cup you will get many much larger flakes. It tastes good, but does not look great. The finest grind is even marginal for espresso. On a $2300 Clive A56 I can pull a good shot with 18 grams of beans, 94C, 9 bars, 30 second infusion, 55g out. If I could, I would grind finer and try to boost the crema and get the output down to 44g, however, I am already at the finest setting. I have tried regrinding the powder for Turkish to reduce the variance in the size of the grounds. That helps, but at that point, it might be faster to use a manual grinder. **Q: I wondr why one review says "no mess" and another says "messy no matter how careful I am." Can you clarify?** A: I've had a number of burr grinders over the past 15 years. I have one of Capresso's older grinders at home. The 570.01 is in use at my office and it is by far the least messy, most efficient and quietest I've ever had. Highly recommended. **Q: Des it have an on switch that stays on until it completes grinding or do you have to hold it down?** A: You don't have to hold it down. It stays on. You set a circular switch to a number—5, 6, 7, 8, o whatever— and it automatically grinds until it reaches the 0. Very sturdy construction.
