I had a huge mess as the green algae bloomed everywhere. I changed the water and cleaned the filter adjusted the lighting timing and the next morning the algae bloomed in an overabundance. It took 3 water changes and 4 filter cleanings to get it under control. I threw it away but your experience may be different. **Q: Will this harm invertebrates?** A: Nope, not at all. Just check your levels (you should do this anyway). Been using this stuff for years! Good for any hard corals and coco worms too. I have spots of purple and pink coralline algae on new base rock I added after 5 weeks. Of course I put a couple pieces of live rock in to seed the tank and the frags I put in had their plugs covered. Purple Up just makes sure the calcium (not sure if it has magnesium or not) levels are correct. Do you need it? No. Is it cheaper than changing water and dosing calcium and magnesium when setting up a new system?
