The $40 Heist: How I Saved $120 and Beat AAA at Their Own Game
## **The $40 DIY Resurrection: Replacing the Jump-N-Carry Battery****Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)**I’ve owned my **Jump-N-Carry JNC660** for years, and it has made me look like a "knight in shining armor" more than a few times—jumping my own car and strangers' cars at least a dozen times successfully. But eventually, the built-in rechargeable battery hit its limit. It stopped holding a charge; I’d plug it into the wall and it would just blink at me, which isn't exactly helpful when you’re stranded.### **The AAA Reality Check**I realized the battery was dead on a freezing Monday morning in February after my car had sat for a week. To make matters worse, I found out my AAA membership had lapsed because I forgot to update my credit card info. They wanted **$160 for a one-time jump**, which is absolute insanity. A local tow truck wanted $50, and I knew exactly what that guy was going to show up with: a JNC unit just like mine. Instead of paying for a single jump, I decided to spend **$40 on a replacement battery** and fix it myself.### **The "Easy-Bake" Installation**Replacing the battery was a fun, 45-minute project. Be prepared to remove a lot of screws, but it’s a straightforward swap. The only minor hurdle was that the terminals on the new rechargeable battery were a bit smaller and more "flimsy" than the original beefy ones. The original screws wouldn't fit through the new holes, and the screws that came with the new battery were short, leaving very little wiggle room. It was a tight fit, but with a little focus, I got it locked down.### **Performance & Value**The experiment worked. The unit charges perfectly now and has already jumped a car without a hitch. If you have a car in that **8 to 10-year range**, especially in the winter when the cold kills battery life, having one of these in your trunk is common sense. You don't need a brand-new car, but you do need to be self-sufficient.### **The Verdict**Don't throw the whole unit away just because the battery died. For forty bucks and less than an hour of work, you can resurrect your JNC and avoid those predatory "emergency service" fees. It’s a great piece of gear, and being able to fix it yourself makes it even better.

Very happy with Mighty Max!!!
I bought a TroyBilt electric start generator in 2012 for home backup power after my 7th back surgery precluded me from pulling the starter rope on my Coleman generator. In 2017, the cheap Chinese 12 @ 18 amp hour gel cell starter battery took it's last breath. I called Lowes about a replacement and they wanted $99.00 and 10 days to get a new one in. I got on Amazon and found a Mighty Max 12 volt @ 22 amp hour battery of identical dimentions for, what was then, $44.00 and free shipping even though I wasn't a prime member then. It came in 3 days. Remember, this was 2017. This Mighty Max battery failed again in September of 2025, EIGHT YEARS LATER!!! I got on iiAmazon again in September of 2025 for another battery expecting the price to have gone up substantially due to inflation. It did. I bought my new battery for $46.00. A $2.00 increase in 8 years. The only real difference is that it took 5 days to get here instead of 3 which was no big deal. I'm on here again because I have a 12 volt powered project that i'm developing and I plan on powering it with the same battery that I have bought twice before for starter batteries for my generator. My philosophy is to stick with the winners. These batteries have shown consistantly high quality, peak voltage output and high currant capacity which is what I'll need for this project. If anyone is interested, the original battery was made in China. The Mighty Max battery that replaced it in 2017 was made in Vietnam and it's Mighty Max replacement in 2025 was made in Thailand.

Im definitely impressed!
The 22 Ah is a MAJOR upgrade from the original 18 Ah batteries that came with my Pride Go chair! It actually has a longer range than it did when new. The dimensions of the 22 amp hour batteries are almost identical to the 18 Ah batteries and the fit was perfect. I suggest taking a picture before disconnecting anything and changing one battery at a time. Yes, I will buy again but I'm sure it's going to be a long time before it's necessary.

Did not last
This is a bit unfortunate for me. I very rarely review things that have a zero star, but I'm 10 months in I've been starting my generator every month religiously on the first of the month and running it for half an hour to 60 minutes and my battery seems to have gone bad. I just had to jump start it, and I ran it for an hour. After running it for an hour, a long hour, the voltage was still only 11 volts. This is disappointing I will not be choosing mighty Max batteries anymore. I was using it on a Northstar e9250s. When I bought the battery, it was a little more of a battery than my generator called for.

Direct replacement for JNC-660
Perfect replacement for JNC-660 jump box. This is a lead acid battery however, which likely will not last as long as the original VRLA battery that lasted 13 years for me.

Capacity drops to 75%- within minutes after charging
Shipping was fast, however I'm disappointed with this battery. It doesn't hold proper charge as per the stats. With nothing but a multi-meter connected to it, you can watch as the voltage plummets. I'm not taking about dropping to storage voltage, I mean falling off a cliff. The next thing is the battery terminals. You have to have fingers like match sticks to connect anything to them. They are so small, and the space is so limited. You can't properly tighten the terminals properly either. Why? Because you risk stripping the screw head because you can't use bigger screws - the terminal holes are too small.I'm tired of returning products, tired of dealing with customer service that takes days to respond....Edit- 10/12/23 (increased ⭐ rating)I reached out to their service dept, and I couldn't believe how quickly I was helped. I bought 3 other batteries from them, before this review, and they're working great, so it was really nice to get the issue sorted.I still don't like the terminals, however the battery service is excellent.

Great replacement battery
This was a perfect fit replacement battery for my battery booster pack. The booster pack works just like new now! Seems to hold the charge for quite some time. Was relatively easy to change.
