TRULY AMAZING UNIT. FANTASTIC BASS.
NEGATIVES: 1. Speaker cables supplied could be longer.. 2. and a better gauge. POSITIVES: My photos show my 16 gauge speaker cable attached next to the unused Panasonic cable. The positive being screw terminals on unit and speakers. The unit has curves of the Technics I used to sell back in the early 1990's. This unit sounds like a Technics. NB: TECHNICS AND PANASONIC are trade names for their holding company. Back in the 80's and 90's, I sold loads of Panasonic TV and video. Their range of audio hifi would go to about £300 then all hifi above that price would have the name Technics on it. I have attached to the unit a very old tape deck for playback only. No line-out for recording. Also attached is a Panasonic blu-ray player and Samsung TV. I have tried lots of different genres of music at different volumes. Too many to list but I cannot fault any trials. These included: Ambient: BRIAN ENO... Apollo. MP3 Prog: GENESIS... Supper's Ready. CD 2008 mix. PINK FLOYD... Comfortably Numb. CD 2011 remaster. Pop: ABBA... (MAMMA MIA ost) blu-ray ... the bass was more threatening than Motorhead! Quiet s very quiet and loud is very loud for it's location in a bedroom. Sleep mode: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 Dimmer: low light or light. Bass/ Treble: -4 / +4. Remote Contol: comprehensive (as far as I can tell) DAB+ ... the " + " is important for the reception of some stations... eg Classic FM. Overall, I am once again so impressed. This is good enough to have a Technics logo on it.

Don't judge the sound too soon - these speakers need running in!
Hmm. First impressions were: radio sounds fantastic, CD sounds fantastic, Bluetooth is a bit lacking. Now: Having run in the speakers over a few weeks, the Bluetooth sound is now full and clear, up to the standards of the CD and radio output. I had relegated this stereo to second choice in my household (in the spare room) as I had problems with the Bluetooth sound at first. However, it is now rightfully back in the living room, as the Bluetooth sound has improved with time. Also, it plays CDs faultlessly, even if they are slightly scratched, which my Philips M4505/12 is not able to. Quite a large footprint for a micro system, but it is worth accomodating the slightly extra size, for the extra power and clarity which this system offers. The volume has more headroom than other systems, going up to 40 or 50 (I haven't reached the full extent yet!) as opposed to 30 on most HiFis. Overall, very good value, stylish to look at, the remote control takes a little bit of getting used to, but is sturdy and reliable. Great sound reproduction across the formats.

A good piece of kit overall.
This is a decent piece of kit to be sure. I find the bass response a little loose maybe but you can correct this with the EQ in the main. It has as much connectivity as you're likely to need. Having said that, is it twice as good as the Roxel RCD-750 system I bought my partner in December 2024. Frankly no it's not particularly sound wise. The Roxel can be made to sound very good indeed and I think has a tighter bass sound. However, the Roxel doesn't have the optical input which seemed important to me at the time. The Panasonic handset is however more sturdy and I think more comprehensive than the Roxel particularly for USB playback.

Great quality stereo
I'm no audiophile, but wanted to listen to my soundtracks in my living room with greater clarity than streaming. The sound difference is very noticeable listening to music directly from the CD. Apparently, they are not subject to compression and this experience is known as "lossless", meaning all of the information is there as it was recorded. I didn't realsie that ripping my CDs to Apple Music compressed them so heavily! I can now hear notes and chords I didn't notice before, and the overall sound is much more euphoric, in my opinion. For the price, this really hits a sweet spot and I'm very, very pleased with my purchase. I've placed my small collection of CDs (mostly video game sound tracks) and my art books/game guides so I can enjoy them as I listen to the music from the game. Yes, streaming is more convenient, but taking a CD out from the case, popping it in, and not being distracted with the option to change soundtracks really is more immersive.
