Bumble Bee Chub Mackerel, 15 Ounce Cans, 12 Count

I bought the 12 pack several times, when it was on sale around 2 bucks a can. It dosen't have a strong bad odor, just similar to opening a can of tuna. It actually smells quite pleasant, as it hasn't been frozen, and tastes very good. I like it as much as their albacore tuna. It has .14 protein per gram against .257 protein per gram for their tuna, about 83% less protein than the tuna, but still a good source of protein. I get it cause you get about 4 full small complete cleaned fish per can,(about 9 oz. of fish only), and I can roll them in some flour and fry them 3-4 min in olive oil and butter, and get a couple of servings out of a can, and very tasty at that, sometimes sprinkling on some blackened spice. It needs no salt, as that is in the water. It has about 6 oz of water per can, about 40% water which helps give and retain its fresh taste. I also treat my cats with some, to suppliment their catfood diet, and they love it, water and all, as it is so much cheaper than canned catfood and no filler ingredients. I like it for variety of the kinds of fish I eat regularily like tuna or salmon recipes, or even when making a seafood pizza. I don't notice any saltiness taste at all or oilyness in it. Reminds me of the smaller fish I use to catch, except I don't have to clean these, and get just about as tasty a healthy meal. I recommend trying just one can, if you're not sure, like I did, to try out before you buy more.

I eat these like sardines, they are good but I wish they didn't have so much salt added. I gave them 5 stars because they are inexpensive.

Nutritious. Healthy. Excellent source of protein to have, (especially) in a “go-bag” for emergencies/or in cases of natural disaster. Good source of vitamin D and calcium. Very, very tasty. Simply, made. Ingredients: mackerel in water with salt. Versatile. Can be eaten as is (or as a tasty stack) or even used in a quick meals like, salad or (maybe in a soup or stew). I recommend.

The quality of the mackerel is good. The size of the pieces is inconsistent. There is also some variability in the amount of fish in each can. After draining the water, each can contains about 11 ounces of mackerel, plus or minus about an ounce. Most of the cans come with dents.

All cans arrived undamaged.
