These lighters like most have a security switch. You have to pull it back before you can light it. If you have arthritis this is very difficult. I also found that they don’t last very long. Would recommend finding a different product if you have problems with your hands.

The largest lighter and the package does not work. Other than that – I bought this package to replace the ones I had previously that seemed to have died after about 10 years of performance. That alone should tell you why about them again. They are very easy to use and very effective, especially for candles in long glass jars or maintaining a light in a breezy air conditioned area. They have always been safe to use and give a lot of warning when they are about to wear out. I will continue to buy these as long as I need them and a package containing several as certainly very economical.
