I am having fun with this little guy
I am having fun with this little guy! Small, compact, easy to use, and easy to clean, enough said! It just wipes clean, it couldn't be any easier than that!! I got this after I saw it was recommended on an ATK (America's Test Kitchen) gear heads video. I trust them for recommendations on products, and I feel this one didn't fail to live up to their recommendation. I got this mainly with the purpose in mind to use it in our camper, it's an electric plug in device, so I won't have to fire up the cook top stove and use up our propane, and the fact that it's just a wipe clean for clean up, means one less dish or pot to clean, and so I also won't be using up our water either. It can cook up some eggs rather quickly and nicely!! So it is a win win for me!! Also with it being 8 inches wide it can fit a nice size slice of bread and can be used like a panini press but won't have the grid marks/lines, so it's a multipurpose appliance too. There is NO off/on switch, just plug it in and it's ON, and plug it out to turn it OFF. There is a blue indicator light on the outside top/lid.I have only had it about a month, and have had no issues with it yet, Basically so far I have only experimented making eggs and panini sandwiches with it but want to try out a few other things with it too, like sauteing some onions on it or even cooking a burger on it! I think the convenience of it, easy clean up and small footprint of it, would lend itself well for apartment living or cooking for one or two persons.

It does work as advertised
This product does, in fact, work as advertised but be sure you are buying for the right reason. It will cook your food, as promised, but it won't necessarily do it an better than a small frying pan with a lid set on low heat on the stove. I cooked a small piece of raw meat and some left over spaghetti on the side next to the meat. The meat was thin and was frozen when I put it in. I topped the whole thing - meat and side of spaghetti - with chopped onions and some soy sauce after first adding a liberal amount of veg oil to the pan before adding the food. I closed the lid. About 7-8 minutes, I opened the lid and everything was cooked very nicely. It was browned on the bottom, not the top. The meal was delicious and the food was nicely seasoned. Everything was fine...............BUT I could have done the very same thing with a small frying pan and lid on the stove set to low heat. I could have also done the same thing on an electric frying pan set to low heat making sure to put a cover on the pan, in either case. Where it would be more useful than frying pan is in places where there is no stove but there is electricity such as a dorm room, a camper or RV, a hotel room, etc. This device would be more convenient than an electric hot plate in combo with a small frying pan and a lid. It would be more compact esp for traveling, less so for a dorm room with a permanent place for the hotplate. One other consideration is that it takes about 7-8 minutes to cook the meat and a side dish in portions which would be enough for one person - and not one person with a big appetite, either. For example it would not hold enough food for a teenager or a young adult male. Another consideration is that if a couple of any age wanted to take this devise along when camping or staying in a hotel room, they would probably need two of them. It takes 7-8 minutes to prepare meat and a side dish for one person. This food would get cold while waiting for the second round to cook food for the other person. If two people want to sit down to eat a meal at the same time, then they would need two of these items to take along. Bottom line is that it is way too small to use if one is going to cook food for two people. It is ideal for one person and the food is very delicious when it is done cooking. It is also not going to be able to cook enough food for one person if that person is either a teenager or else a young adult male. It can't handle anything but small portions, at once time ,so please consider who is going to be eating the food. If you are going to be using it for two people or even one person with a hardy appetite, an electric frying pan with a glass cover would be a better option.

Do you suck in making round pancakes?
Do you try to make round pancakes that always look like a face, or a potato? Never fear, this device is here! I am that prideful "chef" that always must try to make things manually, alone to show just how awesome and great I am as a cook. Unfortunately though, my pancakes tend to be the victims of said pride and never come out well. After my tenth attempt at round pancakes that were always oblong, strangely shaped, and never the same thickness, I decided to give this machine a try. And with our covid days I just had to give myself some kind of break. So I did. Now, after I've made enough pancakes for a family of four for about seven weeks and some quesadillas, I will provide you my humble opinion. 1. The machine itself is light and compact as most waffle and pancake machines tend to be. I can easily store it in my cabinet above my microwave, or if I want to change it up, below my counter. 2. The machine is easy to clean. I usually get it cleaned within 2-3 minutes at most. And of course, don't ever forget to not stick the machine into water, unless you want to get a permanent Halloween costume as the "Pancaked and Toasted Lady". 3. The machine is versatile. I've made quesadillas with it, pancakes, I will make more in the future as well. I made my quesadillas and my pancakes without a hitch. 4. The machine heats up well, and cooks rather fast as well. I can't say I'm an expert on these though, so I am going to judge this as a pancake machine virgin, that's only seen them and lifted them at stores. Never at my home. Yes, yes I know I'm a deprived child. So all and all, I must give it a five star. It does what it says, and it's not a hassle. Updated review: It's still kicking! I'm now using it for flatbreads too. You know those for Persian cuisine? I can't get those right in my steel pan that everything sticks too. But I figured I could always put the ingredients in a bowl and then just use this. And since then perfect flatbreads too!. So it's not jsut for pancakes!

Great for single-person bread/pancakes with some limitations
I've had this for a little over a year. I always struggled with crepes and pancakes on the stove, and this worked great for that. It's also great for omelettes. When using for those things, it is easy enough to clean and wipe out. This helped me work out recipes for flat breads, but it would be a bit better at this if it had controls. If it had controls, it would cost 20-30 dollars more. The only company that made a smaller grill with controls was Bear, but you can't get the small one anymore. So this is "meat the heat" cooking. Whatever the setting is, that is how you cook. I keep track of times to try to replicate cooking. With meats, vegetables, and other foods, yes, you can sautee foods. It would be better with equal heat elements and a lid that could open flat, but again, we are talking about much more money. This is simple, easy, and if you are a dough-in-can kind of person, you can do some creative and fast cooking with this including pizzas, pancake, and more interesting, non-American things. Unless it's crepes, you still have to flip it. I consider the lid something that helps from grease splattering, but know this will generate oil all around it. So it is better to use if you have lots of counter space, despite it's small profile. Grease leaks through the sides and makes a mess on the counter, even if you could use light oil. Do you have to use oil? Not inititally, but the non-stick does wear. I bought this at the end of Jan. 23, and the non-stick surface is now worn and everything is sticking to it. I am deciding whether to replace it. Most non-stick pans last at least a couple years. And no, I didn't use spray cans in it or harsh tools (just silicone). It just wore very badly. I have some little ones too that I use for small sandwiches and burgers. I don't use them as frequently, so didn't get the some amount of wear. I have used this almost daily. If they put better non-stick on this, heat controls, and true dual-sided heating, I'd be willing to pay 80 or so dollars because this is the perfect size for a single person. I love it. But I don't love the lack of longevity of the coating. Also, I find this absurdly hard to clean after sauting food or meat. I think it shines when used for pourable batter and eggs. Probably I will buy another and restrict my use to breads. Cooking meats and other foods seemed to be much harder on the finish. It's worth 20 dollars, well worth it. But I don't feel good about throwing another pan in the trash... Stainless steel might be a nice option, with removable plates. Does anyone do that? Non-stick always seems to fail to live up to its name... But not everything can be cooked in cast iron... I love Dash products. I hope they improve their coating and keep going with these round grill designs.

Greatest griddle for breakfast for 2!
Whoever invented this is phenomenal! Love the size of this for pancakes, eggs, even a small hamburger. Easy to clean, use and lasts forever! 💯% worth it!

Didn’t know I would need this in my life…
Originally we were gifted a tiny Dash griddle and enjoyed using it for eggs and little pancakes. Then my kids got bigger and making one little pancake or egg at a time wasn’t worth the effort. After finding and using this bigger version of the Dash, I can tell you we genuinely have a hard time living without one. I know this because I am on my third at this point, because I am a klutz and have dropped and broken the others. Thank goodness for quick Amazon shipping! Our family, including 3 preteen-teenage boys use this almost daily. It heats up so fast and is so versatile with both the top and bottom cooking surfaces. We use it to make a variety of breakfast items, including huge pancakes now that the kids are older, omelettes and burritos. For lunches we use it for quesadillas, wraps, and to reheat things quickly. It is so convenient on busy mornings and during short lunch breaks. My kids have been able to use it independently and safely starting around age 10. Not to say that’ll be the case for everyone, because it definitely does get hot and you have to learn to open and shut the lid carefully. My only wish, is that it had an on/off switch, with automatic shutoff. Also, maybe some of the plastic pieces could be made more sturdy, or maybe I just shouldn’t drop it on the floor. Either way, I love this thing and if you need a way to make things quickly and easily, this might be the little kitchen appliance you never knew you needed too.

Great little egg cooker but…
You do have to watch it and unplug it from time to time because it gets very hot and has no temperature control. I like my 2 eggs sunny side up and as long as I watch it, it’s the best I could fine for the price. 2 eggs and a slice of cooked bacon or a sausage fit perfectly. However, as several reviewers pointed out, it did come without the latch, so I must return it. update: I just had to return the second one because there was no latch, again. I have seen a lot of reviews that stated the same problem but I thought I would take a chance because my old one has stopped heating on the top. I really like this little cooker but the seller aught to a better job of quality control. I have reordered (makes a total of 4) because I like them so much. I guess I’ll just keep reordering until they get it right. UPDATE: I just tecieved my forth try at getting this grill with no parts missing. No such luck! I am so frustrated. I will never order anything from the DASH company again. There was no latch on this on either. I emailed the company and they informed me they no longer put the latch on this grill even though it still has the opening for it. if you like your grilled sandwiches squished down and browned on top without having to flip it over, look for another grill.

Extraordinaria !!!

Terrific for homemade pizza!
Heats quickly. Heats hot. Cleans easy. Small enough to leave out but easy to stash away. Looks nice in red. I use it for omelets, fried rice, noodle beef stirfry, home fries, sautéed onions, tofu cutlets, grilled cheese, reheating frozen waffles, etc. The 8-inch size is suitable for cooking one or two servings but no more. It really shines for pizza. It makes the best pizza from homemade dough that I have ever achieved. Better than done in the oven with a baking stone. Comes out perfect in ten minutes with the texture of an New York City style slice and with the top cooked just right. I am very happy with this purchase. Better than anticipated. Well worth it just for the pizza. I am eating too much pizza now.
