A product that far EXCEEDS expectations
You know how it is; you order something based on the claims made by the manufacturer, only to be underwhelmed when you get it.THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE PRODUCTS!I ordered two of these lanterns after days of research and debate, even after actually ordering and returning another one that I wasn't happy with.I was looking for something small, lightweight, bright, and long-lasting on batteries to take with us to West Africa where the power can be very unreliable. The first lantern I ordered was the Energizer Solar Rechargeable 9-LED Lantern. It claims to be 66 lumens and after watching several video reviews for it, I decided to try it. People reviewing it claimed it was quite bright and that the LEDs lit the defuser tubes very evenly, similar to flourecent tubes. I received the lantern and charged it in the sun for five hours, then tried it out and was so underwhelmed by the brightness. I have a small flourecent lantern that runs on my tool batteries and it is far brighter. Also, you can clearly see the LEDs at each end of the tubes and then it gets very dim in the middle. Honestly, it looks very bad to me. For its large size and weight it simply would not be useful at all in providing very useful light; maybe enough for an emergency, but not much beyond that.I then considered the UST 30-Day Lantern and almost bought that one, until somehow I stumbled upon the Divine LED one at the very last minute. I'm not sure where it came from, as I had never seen it before in all my days of searching, but... there it was. I don't question these things; just accept them as a blessing. The reviews were so positive, I figured that surely all these people can't be wrong. But, rated at only 60 Lumens, I was skeptical. Still, because it was so small, light, and simple to use, I figured, what's the worst that could happen? I might have to return it.So, I ordered two of them and they came a couple days later. I easily installed the 3 AA batteries and out to the dark garage I went (where I had tested the other lanterns.) I first turned on my flourencet lantern as a basis for comparison, then turned it off and slid the Divine LED lantern open.... Holy mother of LEDs!!! I was so surprised by how bright this thing is, especially for it's size! WOW!I then tested it out more later that night in the house, in various large and small rooms, and again it was very bright. It produces plenty of light to light a large room nicely. I find it very hard to believe that it could only be rated at 60 lumens, especially given the one I sent back was supposed to be 66 and it did next to nothing to produce any light. This lantern appears to be made well. It doesn't feel cheap at all. The slide action of opening and closing feels very solid and smooth. I love the simplicity of operation. Unlike so many where you have to click through a bunch of different settings, you just slide it up to turn it on and slide it down to close and turn off. It also makes it very compact for travel. If I had to make one small suggestion for this product it would be to have a defused lens as opposed to clear, as the LEDs are SO bright that it's like looking at the sun if you look directly at it. If they were slightly defused I think it would soften that up quite a bit. Maybe a ribbed or slightly frosted lens would be best, as it shouldn't reduce the overal brightnes. This is by no means a complaint though - I love it just as it is!So, there you have it. A product that far EXCEEDS expectations.I highly recommend these and will likely be ordering a several more prior to our trip to take as gifts.UPDATE 4/6/2015I ordered four more of these lanterns and received them yesterday. I have tested them all and they all work just as perfectly as the original two did. Quality seems to be very consistent.I will be taking all six of them on our trip to Africa and predict that I will not return with any of them, as everyone will want one.

Powerful light in a compact size
We absolutely love these lanterns. The light is very bright and the handle is quite convenient for carrying or for hanging/hands free use. The light, collapsible design is also a plus and makes these easy to take along in the car or bag on a trip. It also means that they can be stored in very little space in areas where they will be easy to grab in the event of a power outage. We often lose power during and after storms and would not ever want to be without these lanterns. Recently we were without power for 5 days and these lights were still going without changing the batteries. So much better than flashlights or any other lantern we have tried. We appreciate the value offered for the set of 4. Great product.

AMAZING LIGHT SOURCE!
So, I my received my order, batteries included, (nice) and have run one for 24 hours. It is running out of steam as the batteries are drained, but running on three AA batteries for 24 hours straight is pretty amazing! Over 16 hours of really bright light. LED’s are becoming more and more efficient and these lanterns really are amazing in that regard! All lanterns worked properly out of the box. They are compact, lightweight and extremely bright. Since the LED’s are rated for 20,000 hours of use, I don’t plan to test that claim. Running on a fresh set of batteries, these lamps are REALLY bright cool (not warm) white light spectrum LED’s. No one should look directly at the light since you can damage your eyes. Parents should not allow children to use these unmonitored or without proper precautions. You adjust the light by the amount you extend the core from the base. It lit up a darkened 18x18 foot room to the point of being able to easily read in the dark. Again, please do not directly stare at these lanterns! Place them in a safe place where children and pets will not be placed in the direct path of this light source. These lanterns are not waterproof. There is no waterproof rubber seal on either the top pullout section or the battery compartment so hardcore exposure to the elements should not be expected for a lantern at this price point. For the money, these are a great, safe, economical lighting backup! This is definitely an item I will be gift ordering for family and friends!

Great for Power Outages
For the first time in four years, our power went out in our new home. I have always been a basic prepper for that sort of thing (because that's how Mom and Dad raised me), so we had loads of candles and flashlights to accommodate the room, even some power banks for our mobile devices, but it became woefully apparent that we didn't have a proper strong light source. After scouting around Amazon for a while, I came across this highly rated lantern and figured, for the price, it couldn't be a bad bet. Well, this is a really terrific little lantern. I was so impressed straight out of the box. Closed up, it's quite compact and portable, but even at full extension, it's not much taller than a decent-sized snow globe, but, boy, does it pack a wallop in terms of lighting. The center light bar is covered in LEDs on all sides, and they glow bright, snow white--no dull amber glow here. It easily lit my entire living room with astounding clarity and brightness. The handles are TERRIFIC. They give you the option of convenient portability for trips up the stairs in the dark, but they can also attached to hooks or cording to suspend from the ceiling like a chandelier. Open and close it to turn it on and off. It couldn't be more simple. One of the things I like about it is also something I wish were a little different. Sounds contradictory, I know, but while I love that it runs on AA batteries, which I always have in spades, I wish that it also had a USB charging port or something for power, and that way, if the batteries ran out, say on a camping trip, I could power it back up again with my solar powered power bank. This would be the lantern I would rely on for home power outages. For camping or bug out bags, I would prefer one with solar or USB options.

Perfect for camping or anything.
Dude, this here is a five star lamp. We had another HUGE hunk of lamp that required EIGHT DD batteries (that, folks, gets expensive), and it gave off a yellow light, that was not nearly as bright as this one, plus EVERY SINGLE bug in the surrounding vicinity and their mother FLOCKED to it. And it didn't even have the decency to burn them or kill them or anything like a gas lamp would have. They just swarmed for days. This bad boy: NO BUGS!! Maybe like 2, total. It was crazy and completely unbelievable. Plus it was super bright. Which could be a bad thing. I wish it came with a little mesh thing, or foggy cover or something, because it did hurt your eyes, but I was very pleased with its performance. I will probably buy more of them as our family grows. It can be so small and compact, then pop out, and bam.One thing I will say, I wish it had an on/off switch, or something, because sometimes it will turn off when you close it, sometimes it won't, and if you try to carry it with the handle and keep it closed, it doesn't work, and just slides out and turns on, which is annoying when it is day time, or if you are trying to sleep. So we would just unscrew the bottom, flip the middle battery around (so no current was going), and voila. Off. But sometimes we were too tired, or it was to dark to screw the cap back on, so we had rolling batteries in the morning, but no biggie. I still stand by all my praises of this beautiful little lamp.Bottom line: I wish it had an on/off switch, and came with a removable foggy cover or something, or that the glass was fogged instead of clear, but this is the best dang lamp that has ever been invented (plus it is so cheap).

Amazing Little Lantern!
This small but very powerful lantern was a great purchase. I have only had it a week or so. I use it to read by. (My husband has had four back surgeries. Hence, he is a very light sleeper) I have a Mighty Bright Xtraflex2 Led Book Light that goes through batteries very quickly. Plus, even with new batteries it is hard to adjust properly if you are reading a magazine - for example. The coverage area is limited. The Ultra Bright LED Lantern is EXTREMELY bright even if you don't open it completely. I just slide the top upwards until it comes on (less than a inch) and that gives me enough light to read by and then some. It is so easy to use. NO buttons. Slides upward to turn on and down to turn off. Don't let the size fool you - it's small - about the size of a pudgy can of soda when the handles are not extended. The brightness rivals any regular lantern of similar size or even twice as big. I am ordering a second one to keep in our car - much better than a regular flashlight. It has two handles, as seen in the picture, so it can be hung anywhere. Waterproof and very sturdy but lightweight. I can't comment on the lifespan of the batteries. But, they are easily replaceable. On the subject of batteries :The box states it takes three AAA batteries. The Black UltraBright LED Lantern I received takes three AA batteries. I don't know if there are two different Ultra Bright Lanterns or not. We always have a good supply of AA batteries so it was not a problem. I rather have something that uses AA instead of AAA.I do not camp. Camping for me would be a night at Motel Six. 😋However, I can see this product would be very useful for camping. Especially for children - the size, weight, ease of use and extreme brightness are perfect for kids & adults alike. Buy a 24 pack of AA batteries (SO much cheaper on AMAZON) and you're good to go.Here is the link for more detailed info in case you need it:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NPLSZF8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1I will return when I have used it more for a update.

Divine LED Ultra Bright LED Lantern
We had a very old regular battery powered light that we kept for emergencies that did a miserable job when our power failed. So, I went off to find a stable light that was LED so that the batteries would last and that would put out enough light to get by with. Eating by candle light is romantic, but really not very efficient or necessarily safe if you have small kids or elderly parents. So, when I found this item, I decided to order it. Here is what I found:1. First, I was pleasantly surprised when the item arrived to find a bit of humor on the box "Please feed this lantern 3 AA Batteries"! I knew that it did not come with batteries, but the humor used to convey the message actually made me smile! What a nice change of pace!!!2. I put in three rechargeable AA batteries and tried the light. Could not believe how bright it was!! Not something that you would want to look directly at. Does a very nice job though of providing enough functional light to navigate a 14 by 23 foot room. The higher up you put the light, the more it spreads out to cover, much like a Coleman lantern.3. By only opening up the light part way, you can control just how bright it is. This is a very nice feature.4. The light is very stable on its base, which is perfect for using around the house. It also has carrying handles that also allow it to be hung.5. The unit is VERY compact which is nice for storage. I put this into our disaster backpack so it is always handy!!6. I received a personal message from the owner of the company inviting me to ask any questions that I might have and to let them know if there is something that they can help me with. Now, when was the last time that happened to you??? A VERY nice touch!!!I am VERY happy with the product and would highly recommend it!!!

Wow! A Great Product AND an Amazing Value!!!
It's not often that a product is TEN TIMES better than you expect. That's been my experience with the Vont LED lanterns (4-pack). I purchased these lanterns for emergency use, but, given how small and light they are, they'd be terrific for camping. The engineering on these little lanterns is brilliant, and the LEDs put out VERY bright light. There are three vertical rows of 10 LEDs in each row, for a total of 30 LEDs, producing a brightness level of 240 Lumens, according to the specifications on the box. To turn the lantern on, you pull up using the wire handles, exposing the LEDs. In the "on" position, the lantern is about 8" tall. To turn the lights off, you push the top of the lantern down, so the LEDs are no longer exposed. The lantern is about 4.5 inches tall when the LEDs aren't exposed. Could not be any simpler to use. The lanterns work on three AA batteries, rated for 12 hours of use. The batteries are included and are simple to install. I paid $29.97 for the four lanterns (or roughly $7.50 each), which seems like a bargain. I'm delighted with this purchase!
