Grampa's Weeder Original Stand Up Weed Puller Tool with Bamboo Long Handle

This tool is a total game changer! Last year I made an 80 foot garden bed that this year is full of crabgrass and me being a 73 year old senior outside trying to pull that stuff up runners and all it was a nightmare I thought it was going to have a stroke! I ordered this and it is a game changer I went out today and did twice the work in less time ...it pulled everything up! Roots runners and all I totally love it it is a lifesaver for me. Everyone should have one of these in their garage and even if I only use it this one time it's totally worth it but I know I'm going to be using it for years to come very sturdy very easy to use and I'm not on my hands and knees ripping things up I'm standing up and just pulling the weeds up I really totally love it and can't say enough about it I would give it 10 Stars if I could!!!

This weeding tool is amazing. Honestly, it feels like a miracle for my yard and garden. I have a back issue, so pulling weeds by hand can be painful and frustrating. This tool lets me pull weeds out by the root without ever having to bend over, and that makes a huge difference. It is beyond easy to use. I was able to fill a bucket with weeds in less than five minutes and did not even break a sweat. It grabs the weeds well, pulls them up from the root, and makes the whole job feel so much easier than doing it by hand. The tool also arrived quickly and was extremely well packaged. It felt ready to use right away, and cleaning it afterward was pretty easy too. I like that it is simple, practical, and actually works the way I hoped it would. For the soil type I have here in Northern Michigan, sand, this tool has been incredible. I have pulled hundreds of pounds of weeds from my yard in the short time I have owned it. I would have spent $100 on this tool for this for the amount of time and effort saved weeding my yard as well as the backaches saved. I have well water and do not like using weed killers on my yard, and this tool has been nothing short of awesome! Don't hesitate and get it!

I’ve got to give Grandpa’s Weeder four stars. Overall, I really like this tool, and it’s made yard work a lot more enjoyable for someone like me who hates bending over to pull weeds by hand. The design has an old-fashioned look to it, but that’s part of the charm. Sometimes the simple tools are still the best ones. The speed is what impressed me the most. In softer ground, you can pull weeds in just a few seconds without much effort. The sharpness of the claws lets you get around the root pretty easily, especially after the ground has been lightly watered. I also like the versatility because my yard has just about every type of terrain imaginable. I’ve got soft sod in the backyard, gravelly dirt in other areas, and full xeriscaping in the front. In the gravel, I found that brushing the rocks away from the base of the weed before using the tool made a big difference, and it worked surprisingly well. The only reason I’m giving it four instead of five stars is the handle durability in really hard, packed, dry soil. I included a video showing what I mean. When I tried pulling a weed from that kind of ground, it didn’t pull the weed out all the way and just wasn’t nearly as effective. I could also see the wooden handle flexing. It never broke, but it made me think that if someone really forced it, they could damage it. I think this tool really benefits from having a little moisture in the soil first, whether that’s after a light rain or after you’ve lightly watered the area yourself. Once I did that, it worked exactly the way it was supposed to. I think the key is understanding its limitations. This is a fantastic weeding tool, but it’s not a miracle tool for every type of terrain. Use it where it was designed to work, and you’ll get plenty of enjoyment out of it while saving your back in the process.

If you have a lot of flowerbeds like I do this is a life and back saver. I wish I had found this sooner, I wouldn’t have dreaded weeding as much. Nice sturdy wood handle and metal grabber. Easy to use. It gets the root and all so the weed doesn’t come back. Loved it so much I bought my mother one also. Fast, comfortable and strong. I’m 5’7 and it’s the perfect size.

This item had been recommended to me by two different people. It does what it is designed to do and is simple to use. It can be a little bit of overkill for very small weeds, but it's great for the more stubborn ones and when you get tired of kneeling or bending over. If you're weeding when the soil is wet, you will have to clean the mud out of the pinchers and shake out the weeds. But it's a great tool to save your back and your knees! The length is right and it's a very well made, high quality item. I have to add a P.S. here. Today I found an oak tree that had been growing in my garden, hidden by an azalea. By the time I saw it, it was already about 4-1/2 feet high and maybe 1)2" in diameter. Now I love live oaks, but where that one was growing was unsustainable. I tried pulling on it, but it wouldn't budge. Then I got my Grampa's Weeder and it pulled it all the way out, roots and all! I was impressed.

It’s fantastic!!! Makes weeding simple and easy. Have arthritis and can’t hold a weeder? Here’s your “go to” solution! Good quality, lightweight, durable. Why get on your hands and knees to weed when you can stand up to do it?! 3rd one I have purchased for myself and as gifts.

Love it! Very sturdy. Works pretty well. Only complaints are 1. I wish it went a smidge deeper to really get the full root out. 2. I need to carry a stick with to get the clump of dirt out that comes with the weed. 3. Doesn't pull out the weeds with super sturdy/skinny/deep roots. But overall, it's a wonderful tool! Saved me hours of cutting/digging out weeds by hand. Well worth the price!

I have servere arthritis so my mobility is limited & I am unable to kneel down to weed so I thought I'd look for a weeder that would work upright & didn't require bending. I did some research & liked the simplicity of this weeder so I order one. I have been able to weed most of my backyard from crabgrass in just a matter of minutes. I don't like using chemicals as I have a dog & it's not good for the environment so this is the go to tool for removing those stubborn weeds from your lawn. I absolutely love it & even though I have arthritis it is still very easy to use & also helps keep me active in the garden. 5 stars for sure.

You know when something just works, first time, like you hope it would? This is that thing! I have lots of weeds throughout my grass (moss!) and these really pull them out at the root in one pull. Plus no need to bend down, saving your back! Can’t comment on how long it’ll last as this is its first go, but looks like a solid bit of kit that should hold up to the test of time! Would buy again

We have a massive weed problem this spring. I spent a few days using a Fiskar's puller and then a few days using this one. I far and away prefer Grampa's Weeder. It's lighter and more precise and the iron plucker is sturdy and pulls HUGE prickly weeds and dandelions and various assorted weeds out clean, even when they come with 10 inch roots. I have been so impressed with it. Only downside is that it doesn't have an ejector so you have to put a glove on one hand and pull the weed off the end each time. However, this also makes it much easier on the back, shoulders and arms, as I feel like the extractors on plastic weeders also takes more muscle/effort. If you are older, have mobility issues or have an injury in the shoulder or arm - this is the one to go with, as it makes weeding your yard a more leisurely (and somehow satisfying) task. Because you can clearly see the claw, it's much easier to position it right over the centre of the weed and get a precise and perfect pull the first time, which I wasn't able to do a lot of times with the heavier plastic weeders. So happy I bought this as it's a total game-changer for my weeding and gardening. At first I wasn't sure something so light and simple would be effective but I was blown away at how well it works. Highly recommended! Also - best time to use weeders like this is just after it rains, or first thing in the morning when the soil is still damp and soft.
