first tried this when I was out of town and used my friend’s, and I immediately fell in love. The scent is absolutely incredible — every time I wear it, I get compliments. I loved it so much that I bought it as a Christmas gift for my mom, and after my sister smelled it, I ended up buying another one for her too because she was obsessed. The texture is amazing — it’s super lightweight but still incredibly hydrating. It absorbs beautifully into the skin without feeling heavy, and the scent actually lasts instead of fading right away. You can truly tell this is a well-made, luxurious product. It feels high-end, performs beautifully, and is honestly worth every penny.

Smells pleasant, a little goes a long way, and I even moisturize my face with it. This is a heavy cream, but absorbs nicely. Will buy again!

This is my second bottle of Necessaire body lotion. My skin is so dry and this lotion works. I love the fragrance free because I'm sensitive to smells.

This body lotion leaves my skin soft and moisturized. It has a nice light scent that I really enjoy. It seems to fade quickly but it could be I just become nose blind to it. It is expensive, but sometimes you have to pay more for a product to get that combination of performance and an enjoyable scent. There was some issues with the delivery, originally shipped from Portland it took the scenic route by way of Spokane before heading south to Eugene. It was supposed to arrive in two days but took almost two weeks to arrive.

This one was pretty tricky! Overall, the product itself is great. I love the way that it makes my skin feel. It’s super hydrating without a greasy oily film. I also scanned it in my Yuka app. And the product itself, got high ratings for its clean and non-harsh ingredients. So A+ there, however the packaging is less than ideal. Mine looks as though it came used. It was dented and all scratched up. I don’t believe it was used. I think it’s just how the product was cared for. The inside of the packaging is a black foam type insulation, which looks like it was roughed up transporting, the black residue got all over the white bottle. Paying department store money for product you kind of expect the packaging to be a little higher quality. Packaging makes it seem like a cheap drugstore lotion…. So 5 stars for the contents of the lotion but 3 stars for packaging

update months later. i got Cyprès-Citronné. Not that’s a masculine scent. I can picture a woman wearing Santal but I can’t picture a woman wearing this without trying very very hard. to give a very dumbed down explanation it’s basically lemony and masculine. TLDR: 1st - Eucalyptus (This switches places all the time but it’s nice. It gives nature in a different way to hinoki and reminds me of the movie Twilight and evergreen and teal) 2nd - Hinoki (i try not to use too much so i don’t get tired of it) Edit: demoted. I’m not in the mood for the aromatic rain/wet grass/moss smell all the time. another edit: it’s really not bad. It’s just kind of subdued and calming almost neutral smelling. 3rd - Olibanum (I am normally a warm/subtle vanilla/creamy fragrance leaning person so I thought this would be the only lotion I tried and loved until I got the others and realized not only is it the most uninteresting but the other fragrances were formulated so well that I like this a bit less) 4th - Santal (i hardly use this one) I’ll first start with first impressions and then give an update on the experience of smelling it after it has settled on the skin. Hinoki: I had a feeling that I would not like vetiver, but I only had one experience with it. It smells a bit too grassy for me. I’m gonna try and see if I can get used to it. it smells like a rainforest in my opinion. This would make for a wonderful diffuser set for a home. I do smell the magnolia and it’s pretty but the vetiver is a bit too dirty and grassy for me and I’ve never liked it. it is definitely fresh though. if I’m being honest, because I got this on sale, I think I can try to get used to it. Every time I sniff it, the vetiver throws me off a little bit. it’s not completely disgusting and maybe if I think of the rainforest while I wear it, I can appreciate it a bit more. I can pinpoint the other notes (Fine fragrance notes of Hinoki (Japanese Cedar Oil), Basil, Magnolia and Vetiver for a fresh experience) in this fragrance and I do appreciate it and I think the fragrance would’ve smelled better without the vetiver but there’s nothing I can do about it now. Santal: I am most upset about Santal. It’s the most masculine smelling to me and there’s a tinge of sourness to it that I don’t like. I think the Iris note might be a bit screechy to me. The air of suede is what I smell the most and I don’t like it. It smells like a car. The description on the website lists “Fine fragrance notes of Sandalwood, Black Pepper, Iris, and Jasmine for a woodsy experience”. The photo they advertise with lists “Santal, Black Pepper, Iris, and Suede”. I can smell the sandalwood. It’s smoky smooth and a bit woody. The black pepper is not that noticeable and I can make out the iris. The sandalwood and the suede is the most noticeable and that’s why I get “new car” from the smell. Olibanum: I was most excited for the Olibanum scent as I like subtly sweet smells and I don’t mind a bit of vanilla either. As soon as I smelled it, I smelled the most subtle and calming natural sweet smell. I’m so glad it doesn’t smell like candy. You don’t get vanilla from this. The first thing I got was fig leaf and cassis buds. This is the most mature, grounding, sweet smelling lotion I’ve ever had. It’s a soft smell and it’s a bit comforting. The notes on the website description are “Fine fragrance notes of Olibanum, Vanille, Fig Leaf, and Cassis Buds for a warm experience” and those notes match the photo they advertise with. I think it’s overall delicious and I think this lotion so far would be the most tolerated by the most people. Ultimately though individuals will have their own preferences for fragrance. Eucalyptus: I decided to save eucalyptus for last when exposing myself to the scents because I already assumed that I would like it, or at least tolerate it since the scent is so familiar. I usually don’t go for refreshing/peppermint/eucalyptus type scents and I keep that for my shampoos. But I already know that eucalyptus smells good and I assumed that their take on it would be a bit more spa like as other people have commented. I don’t have any lotion in my collection, and I have never gotten any lotion that smells like eucalyptus or anything similar. I lean more towards feminine, milky, creamy, subtle scents in lotions. Interestingly enough, my favorite is the nighttime baby lotion from Johnson’s. Anyways, my first reaction to the scent is it smells green in a similar way to the Hinoki scent, but it has that obvious eucalyptus note that is similar to mint and plants like that. It’s not minty, but if you know what eucalyptus smells like that’s what it smells like. It’s not something I would usually reach for, but it does have a refreshing scent that does give a more revitalizing experience as opposed to the Hinoki lotion that smells like you’re walking into a rainforest. I can’t easily pick out the ginger or lavender notes from this. I just smelled the color green. The website description, and the photo both list notes of Eucalyptus, Siberian Fir, Lavender, and Ginger. This scent smells more woody in a fresh, crisp, and cool way unlike Hinoki, that just smells like “nature”. It’s not offensive at all and it doesn’t make you take a step back like the santal lotion. Conclusion: The thing about first impressions with scents is that your nose is biased to the smells you already know you don’t like and you would usually never give yourself the chance to get used to it to see how it evolves on the skin. Even though I really don’t like vetiver, I think the Hinoki scent is kind of calming in a nature/rainforest kind of way. It reminds me of outside a lot. I would love a candle that smells like this. I think this would sell even better in a diffuser set honestly, that’s all I can picture. The Santal fragrance is my least favorite out of all of them. The most pungent. That suede note has no business being in a body lotion. I can’t enjoy it at all. I can’t even be open minded to wearing it like I am with the Hinoki scent. The black pepper makes it smell too masculine and the suede makes it smell like I just walked into a Cadillac dealership.. The more I smell it the more I can tell it might give me a headache. I felt my head pain a little bit. The only notes that lift it up only slightly is sandalwood and Iris and even those are a bit too aromatic and they don’t lean sweet. They’re mostly fresh kind of notes. lol I can’t do it and my lawn is being cut right now and that sharp grass note can’t even compare it to how pungent this santal fragrance smells. they’re almost similar oddly enough. My favorite is Olibanum, an adventurous choice for me would Hinoki, and eucalyptus is the most unexciting scent because everyone knows what eucalyptus smells like, but I’ll still keep it because it doesn’t bother me. I would like to note that excluding Santal, none of the fragrances gave me a headache, smelled pungent, or were very strong. They were all very noticeable, but not overbearing. 🚨UPDATE 🚨: Here’s an update after actually using it and letting it settle on my skin. Hinoki smells softer, almost powder-like, and woody on my skin after a while. I like it. It’s pretty. Santal smells softer as well and a bit prettier. I smell less suede and more sandalwood and magnolia. Even though it’s light on my skin, I still get a bit of a headache whenever I sniff it. I was going to describe it as slightly powder-like as well but I think a better descriptor would be “smooth”. The fragrance does smell like it naturally fits alongside a “chic” or “expensive” aesthetic. I’m surprised by this. It’s still not my favorite and it does lean a tad bit masculine but I took it out of the box. Even though the smell of leather punches me in the face every time I put it on, it quickly goes away so, I think I’ll keep it. Olibanum doesn’t smell very interesting or complicated on the skin after a while and is the least noticeable on the skin. It’s just a bit sweet. judging by the notes, I assumed when I first got this that it would be a complex, niche, smelling fragrance that gave a little sweetness, It almost lived up to my expectations. It is pretty, sweet, a bit warm, just not as interesting as the others. As it dries you smell fig than olibanum and after 30 minutes all you get is this vague powdery cassis leaf smell Still leans sweet. Before the sale I was only going to buy and keep this one because I love every one of the notes. olibanum is definitely the most acceptable smell for almost anybody though. Not bad. Eucalyptus doesn’t smell like spa to me. It might be my favorite or second favorite though. It reminds me of coniferous trees. The trees with pine needles and scents like juniper. It’s actually not that green, not minty, and not sharp. Only the initial smell of eucalyptus is. if you can appreciate this kind of aura that it gives it’s actually kind of calming. It doesn’t smell like “nature”, the vague description I gave for the Hinoki scent, but it does remind me of specific kinds of trees which is obviously due to the Siberian Fir in this. It also has a sweetness to it. Eucalyptus, Siberian Fir, Lavender, and Ginger smells can be sometimes interpreted to being sweet because they be balsamic and eucalyptus can sometimes have a sweet minty undertone. The sweetness is not pronounced AT ALL and is nothing like Olibanum but it’s the only way I can describe the smell after the initial eucalyptus smell goes away and the lotion has been on the skin for a while. 📣 P.S. I do wish they would reiterate that the lotions are more than new scents but match the special properties of each body wash they carry for those who never bought the body washes. The Body Wash in the fragrance Santal is a Multi-Mineral wash, it’s formula contains a micro-dose of Minerals; Epsom Salt, Magnesium, Zinc, and Silica. The body lotion in the same fragrance has the same formula. The Body Wash in the fragrance Hinoki is the Multi-Acid wash. It’s formulated with AHA, BHA, PHA, and Resveratrol (ingredients list Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Salicylic Acid, and Gluconolactone). The Body Wash in the fragrance Olibanum is Multi-Enzyme and is formulated with Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Enzymes (Bromelain, Papain, Superoxide Dismutase) The Body Wash in the fragrance Eycalyptus is Multi-Oil. The oils they both share is Marula Oil, Cacay Oil, and Meadowfoam Oil Also all four lotions share many peptides but each has one peptide unique to the others. Olibanum has Acetyl Hexapeptide-1, Eucalyptus has Acetyl Heptapeptide-4, Santal has Hexapeptide-9, Hinoki has Hexanoyl Dipeptide-3 Norleucine Acetate. They all rub in thick but dry like nothing there. It feels like skin when absorbed. i don’t mind feeling and looking greasy but this is also really comfortable. Also all fragrances on the skin are really really light after a while.

This lotion feels lovely and silky, absorbing well with no greasiness. Haven’t gotten to the end of the bottle yet, but I have a temporary lid to use for storing the bottle upside down if the pump straw becomes too short to do its job. My only issue is the scent (Neroli)—WAY too overwhelming. I only use this lotion on my legs because the scent IS rather long-lasting and powerful. If I had purchased the unscented, this might’ve been a four/five-star review. The scent prevents me from reaching for it as often as I’d like; it’ll likely last me a long time. Also, the price is rather prohibitive and was a splurge—I’m not yet convinced that I’ll buy it again. I’d probably experiment with something similar, but cheaper—expensive, imperfect lotion really IS a big splurge : )
