Coffee Cozies (Cozy)

Have been looking for this knitting book for a while to replace one I lost when moving house. Thanks for the quick delivery.

I have tried 3 cozies so far and am pleased with results, but think patterns may not have been tested first. Page 103 Cable Classic has several errors- in the cable pattern row 2 should begin with purl 3. When making buttonholes the first gives correct instructions yf, k2tog. However the 2nd and 3rd button hole say yf, p2tog. That does not work. It should be yrn, p2tog. (yarn round needle). The cable is a 3 stitch cable & correct in the pattern but on p146 in Techniques they show a photo of this Cozie with an example of 4st cable, both front & back. That could cause confusion. I don't think there any Cozie patterns in this book with a 4 stitch cable. Lastly the first 4 rows of rib are on 5mm needles. The last 4 rows of rib should also be on 5mm needles. The pattern says to change to 5mm needles for last 2 rows. Cast off loosely or use 5.5mm needle to cast off so there is a bit of stretch in cast off row. Cozie looks great and knits up quick. I also crocheted Cotton candy on p30 and bought correct yarn for this. It says to use a 6mm crochet hook. After several attempts I got the right tension with a 9mm crochet hook! I do quite a bit of crochet and my tension is not that far out. The finished Cozie looks good. I also crocheted Fringe Folk on p42. Interesting pattern as new colour used for each row and always with right side facing. It suggests trimming fringe ends so they don't have to be sewn in, but that is only OK for the bottom edge, they have to be sewn in for the top edge. No mention made of this. So although it looks good there is a lot of finishing with a needle so bit time consuming.

There is an amazing array of cozies to be done in this book. The only critism is that most of the yarns used are named varieties with no easy explanation of alternatives. Tension pieces would have to be worked to make sure. I have completed the cover cozie and adapted a crocheted version to a knitted one.

Love the patterns. Easy to follow instructions and good pictures. Can't wait to make them. Very good value for the book

An ideal book for using small amounts of yarn left over from other projects. Lots of different ideas and patterns to suit all tastes. Items would make good stocking fillers etc

Fab. Great pattern ideas. Friends liked the ones I made as gifts. Good quality book for being classed as used.

.. aber völlig unsinnig. Ein wunderschönes Bilderbuch (mit praktischen Anleitungen zum Nacharbeiten). Jedes Mal, wenn ich darin blättere, beschließe ich, ein bestimmtes Model nach zu arbeiten, aber leider bleibt es beim guten Vorsatz, weil mir das Material fehlt oder die Gewissheit überwiegt, dass frau doch bitte nicht was nachäfft. Ich finde es einfach schön, in so einem Buch zu blättern und mich an den witzigen Ideen zu freuen. Das ist doch legitim, oder? Dies ist eine Kopie meiner Rezension für die Egg cozies, weil ich zu faul bin, die gleiche Meinung nur anders aus zu drücken.

This book is an extension of the Tea Cozies books by the same group. Some of the projects are easy, but some of the projects will stretch your skills. I learned to knit when I was five, and I am not a newbie. The designs are very creative, and whether easy or more challenging, all will turn out a good result. The instructions are clear, and well written. I make my coffee every morning in a French press, which is what these cozies are all designed to cover. Essentially you make a rectangle of knitting and fasten it to the French press with buttons. If your coffee maker looks like the one on the cover, you're all set. If it is not that sort, or a different size, you will have to make adjustments. That's why I took of one star. Tea cozies make a lot more sense, actually, as, unless you're making only one cup of tea, you use a tea pot, and you have to wait for the next cups, which is when you use the tea cozy to keep your pot warm. Coffee does not necessarily work that way, and electric coffee pots usually keep coffee plenty warm on their own. I'm sure I'm not the only one who makes one mug of coffee in the morning, and that's it. I loved the pattern I made, with bulky yarn and long floats for a woven look. But it's on the French press only for the four minutes it's brewing, and that's not necessarily enough time to warrant a cozy, but it was sooo pretty, especially in the fancy hand spun, hand dyed, wool and silk.
