I managed to get this set on a decent sale, but even if I hadn't, this toy is so worth the cost. My kids (ages 1, 2, and 4) play with these Tinker Toys every single day. Toys like these that have no "right" way to play are so awesome. Watching my kids' creativity spark with these is incredible! They use them on their own or in combination with other toys, like creating roadways for cars or homes for action figures. The possibilities are endless. Quality-wise, they've been great. We've had one longer bar get bent out of shape at one end. Otherwise, the pieces have remained in perfect shape. Even the flexible pieces spring back to their original shape! The guidebook included is nice, giving some complex, exciting design ideas. My only issue is that it came with quite a few blue connector pieces that just don't get used. I wish they were substituted for more usable pieces. Great buy. Definitely get if your child loves building and being creative!

Grandchildren loved these. They are easy to work with and they built some large items very quickly. Our youngest granddaughter, age 5 has some difficulty using her one hand. We watched as she used the old set of tinkertoys (that were her uncles and moms) and saw how she worked well with them to improve motor skills and that prompted me to order more. This set is great with a couple of pieces being flexible as well. Using this building set works well for all ages as they are able to look at directions and master something held together better than a lego set that can often be discouraging. This was played with by 5, 8, 9 and 11 year olds. I would easily recommend this product! Oh, the older set works well with the new set for their imagination in building other items.

My grandson is obsessed with these and has been since he was 1 he's 8 now. The downside to these are after awhile they don't stick together anymore.

My 4 year old got this for his birthday and he was very excited b/c his older brothers have an old version that they won't let him use. I had the old fashioned wooden version as a child, and enjoyed, so I tried the plastic version with the kids. I have to say, this version is a marked improvement over my older kids' b/c the straight pieces are flexible, so you can bend them into all sorts of different shapes without hurting them! Yes, you are SUPPOSED to bend them! They seem tough enough to last, although someone did manage to CHEW them out of shape so those pieces are unusable! (Gee, I hope they are BPA free!) I get very excited about any product, but especially TOYS made in the USA!!!! Yes, corporations, we desperately want toys made where there are safety laws! I am very uncomfortable with toys made in countries where they just don't care if they are covered in lead! I'm sure my kids aren't the only ones who've chewed on a toy while they build. Kids just do that. At least with this I don't feel like panicking and washing their mouths out when I catch it happening. (Not that I encourage it!) We've found that building toys are an excellent investment compared to most toys, b/c they can become anything you want them to be without taking up more space! We love the creativity and the whole look at a picture and copy it game, as it builds a lot of skills. The only problem is that when one kids uses it they all want to, so we need more sets to be practical. This can get expensive, but I'll pay that price for American made durable, high interest, long-lasting, flexible toys. Oh, the other thing is.... the kids do like it! We cycle it out with other building toys like Lincoln Logs so whatever is out is always exciting. They are always glad to see them again when it is TinkerToys' turn on the toyshelf. The bigger boys up to 13 still are not giving up their sets to the younger ones, but they are jealous of the flexible straight pieces.

I had this when I was little. All in wood. I like this set because it's easier and lots of pieces for the kiddos. It's fun to watch them expand their thinking skills. It's a little challenging for my 3 yr old grandson but my older ones have fun with it. It's Costly but quality is good so I gave it 5 stars.

These Tinkertoys are great fun for my 3 year old grandson who loves to build all sorts of designs. There are a lot of different confectioning pieces that let you make all kinds of shapes. Some of the long pieces are flexible these are plastic unlike the wooden Tinkertoys of my childhood. I would recommend this set for children with imagination that like to make things.

My grandson loves these. I love them because they promote imaginative play and encourage kids to step away from screens.

Tinkertoy was given to a 3.5 yr old. He uses his imagination to create. Snaps together well and stays connected allowing the child to not get frustrated. 200 pieces seems like a lot but I would not purchase anything less. Bit expensive but I am sure that longevity and hours of pleasure will make it worth while.

My three year old who just turned 4 loves playing with tinker toy. I used to play with it as a kid too. I highly recommend it

I purchased this for my grandson's 6th birthday. Two days later, it is still his favorite gift.
