Nanoleaf Essentials Smart Light Bulbs, Matter LED Bulbs A19 E26 60W 2PK

Edit: I did some research and, it should have been obvious since it’s in the title, but they require a 2.4Ghz Wifi Band. My wifi is an apartment amenity and doesn’t separate the bands in the access point, so to solve this, I got a Wifi Repeater which also separates the 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz bands out, and connected my smart accessories to it; this seemed to solve it so far! So for those with a similar situation, consider this. They’re cool and seem to work ok at times, but they’re constantly needing to be reset or have a significant amount of time where they lost connection, and are such a headache. The whole point of the smart bulbs was to have convenience, but to have to get up and spend more time toggling on & off is worse than just a regular damn bulb. I wish Apple hadn’t suggested these, I’m going to try Linkind bulbs instead which seem to be better.

I love these! We are an apple House and these work with HomeKit very well. I have six or eight of them around the house and I love that. I can just tell Siri to turn them on off and of course we have many automations so it always looks like we're home even when we're on vacation. They're super convenient and you can adjust it to almost any color. You couldn't think of. I love these.

Mostly a great product. Only took off one star because in the 8 bulbs I bought, 1 would not connect to my network and doesn't seem to work. A bit frustrating for more expensive products. I love the Matter connection though in terms of wifi connectivity and responsiveness.

I purchased two boxes of Nanoleaf Essentials Thread bulbs (8 units in total, A19 and GU10 models). All of them worked correctly at first, but soon after I received notifications in the Nanoleaf app to update their firmware. Trusting the brand, I performed the official update. The result was disastrous: - The first 4 bulbs stopped working immediately after the update. - The next 4 seemed to update successfully, but after a few days they shut off by themselves and became unusable as well. - None respond to the physical 5-cycle reset. - None are detected by Thread or Bluetooth anymore. - No red or white flashes appear. - In practice, they are completely bricked (totally unusable). I contacted Nanoleaf Support. After many emails: 1. They had me repeat reset procedures I had already tried, without success. 2. They asked me to leave the bulbs plugged in for hours or days, which also didn’t work. 3. Then they denied the warranty because I live outside the U.S. (Chile), even though I always used a certified 220 V → 110 V step-down transformer. Other devices connected to the same transformer work perfectly. 4. Finally, they claimed that “a firmware failure that renders a bulb completely dead has never been observed,” despite the fact that I documented 8 units with exactly the same issue. In conclusion: - All 8 bulbs became useless after the official firmware update distributed by Nanoleaf itself. - The manufacturer refuses to honor the warranty internationally, even with clear evidence of a software defect. - Amazon does not provide coverage when items are delivered through a freight forwarder, leaving the customer without a solution. This case shows that: - The quality of Nanoleaf Essentials is very questionable. - The technical support team denies reality and repeats ineffective procedures. - The customer is left completely unprotected when using international shipping services. This is not an installation problem, nor a voltage issue, nor a transport problem: it is a systematic firmware defect. The fact that 8 units failed in exactly the same way cannot be attributed to “coincidence” or to “external factors.” My recommendation: DO NOT buy these bulbs. If they work, they will only do so until the first firmware update. After that, you will be left with useless products, no warranty, and no refund.

These smart lightbulbs are amazing. Easy to use with the Apple Home app! Great choices in lighting colors!

Update: I upgraded my home WiFi and that seems to have solved the problem. Everything works great. Original review: I bought 9 bulbs and added each to HomeKit; however, as soon as I did all the bulbs were unreachable and could not be controlled with the app. The bulbs would only respond to turning the physical light switch on or off. I tried resetting several times and the lights remained unreachable each time. I paired the bulbs with an Android tablet and connected over Bluetooth and I was able to control the lights and update the firmware. Even with the latest firmware the bulbs will not connect to Apple devices or HomeKit. The only reason I bought these bulbs was to use them with HomeKit. So since that’s not working there’s no point to using these over regular cheap bulbs.

My current smart home is setup with HomeKit. I got these because of the popularity and how inexpensive it is. I purchased a total of 3. Here’s my personal pros and cons: Pros: Super Easy to add to the Home app (I added to the Home app before I downloaded the Nanoleaf app) Updating Firmware is super quick Switched to Thread within minutes (probably faster) Cons: Nanoleaf app is a little confusing Brightness is okay - I’ve played around with the preset scenes and the colors definitely do look a little washed like what everyone says on their reviews. (I’ve got these strictly for pure white and amber for night time viewing to ease the eyes) Weird default color. When it defaults to white, instead of being white. It has a pinkish/red tint to the bulb. Not sure why that is, but I do have to manually change it. (A little annoying) When deleting “duplicates” it’ll delete the bulbs from the Home app as well. Had to add them back to the Home App. (Minor hassle) Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and how easy it is to use. And the price point is just great!

I was skeptical after reading about these bulbs online, but have ultimately added six of these to my already large HomeKit home. They are probably the most reliable bulbs I have. The only gripes I have are the scene sync functionality in the Nanoleaf app behaving odd and filling my HomeKit home with default scenes with each bulb I add (that I need to manually remove with the Home app) and the colour brightness is a little weak compared to some of the Wi-Fi bulbs on the market like the VOCOlinc bulbs. Pros - Rock solid connectivity with Thread. Really one of the most solid bulbs I have for connectivity hands down. - White is incredibly bright. Great white colour spectrum - Awesome HomeKit integration - Colours are pretty deep and rich Cons - Colour brightness is pretty disappointing. Other bulbs easily outperform these Nanoleaf bulbs in colour brightness - The Nanoleaf app is.... finicky. Trying to get all the bulbs to share an animation scene is a messy procedure of editing and sharing the scenes in the Nanoleaf app to save them to a bulb, then closing the app and opening the Home app to see what the app ended up actually syncing to HomeKit. Repeating until the scenes are set properly. The bulbs seem to randomly rename shared animation/scenes as "Scene 1" creating multiple scenes in HomeKit. - The bulbs have multiple default scenes/animations that instantly sync when you add a new bulb. This is frustrating since I'm not a fan of having scenes I'll never use, so I have to delete the scenes from the bulb and then from HomeKit. Let us choose whether these default scenes get added. Don't just throw it into the HomeKit home. Ultimately, these are really reliable HomeKit bulbs that have AMAZING brightness for white colours and nice deep colours with lacklustre brightness. They have solid connectivity and perform extremely well. The app could be improved by making the scene copying function a little more reliable, and removing the default scenes from the bulbs when we set them up as new so we don't get cluttered with scenes in HomeKit.

These work better and are easier to set up than any other smart bulb I’ve used including Phillips and Globe. Reasonably priced as well.
