Does this attachment hold square bits? All I can find at home depot is 5.8” Phillips bits.

It doesn't come with it. But I would take the bits that come with the attachment to home depot and see if there is square bits with the correct length. That the main question. The correct lenght.

Can this be used with an impact or do i need the drywall drill

It can only be used with the drywall drill from milwaukee.and it works really well.
