love it, very much worth the extra $$, for less weight
love it, very much worth the extra $$, for less weight ... had our first gig with it last week, Mardi Gras funk, this sub helped us spank the funky low notes

Only bought 1 and it does the job.
I have been using it all the time as a SOLO and DUO/TRIO with Mackie Mixer and it has performed flawlessly. Used mostly outdoors it cranks or it can be intimate with tables just a few feet away. It takes some practice on setting it for each event. Only wished it had a mute button.

It’s powerful. It can handle the 2000 watts 10” QSC’s
I like this sub. It’s great. It can handle volume.

Good, but a bit fragile?
From across the pond in England!... Bought 1 of these to replace a less powerful and flexible Laney CX-12A for (1) running my backing tracks through, and (2) adding my guitar through it in the event my amp breaks down (using Pod XT Live's amp simulation). On my previous powered cab this was too fizzy, but because you have separate bass/mid/treble for each channel on the DLM, this can be dialled out. Never going to be as good as a valve amp but a reasonable sound/compromise! I'm not using a mixer, incidentally - rather defeats the object when you're looking for a small, light, easy-to-set-up system, I think!I've found the System control is useful if you're also using it at home. 'Soloist' mode is less bassy, and is I think more effective than just reducing the bass EQ.Perhaps I'm still getting used to it, but I find the DLM very bassy in general - perhaps I should remix my backing tracks! There's no way I'd need a sub with this cab, although I haven't used it outdoors yet, where the bassiness would probably be an advantage. But at least you have the EQ to fix it if necessary.Minus points - for me - are that it's made of smooth plastic that seems a bit fragile (but probably isn't) and not very 'professional', if you know what I mean. More toy-like than the textured mouldings you usually get. Also the press-button controls seem a bit flimsy, especially for the money (I don't mind paying the price for a genuine US build but this is Chinese). I hope it proves more reliable than it appears.I also wonder whether the RMS rating (the only one that counts) really is 1KW. Yes, it's obviously louder than the Laney (110W) but not incredibly so. Yes, I know volume isn't a straightforward multiple of wattage, but I would've though this was more like 500W RMS. Still, it's loud enough for my purposes!Another point is that the EQ adjustment is quite coarse - 1 button press makes quite a difference. A bit too much, really, if you're used to knobs or faders.Having said all this, it's doing the job I asked of it, and doing it very well. Whether it's better than what's available in the States I don't know, but it's certainly more flexible than anything I could find in the UK. It's loud enough for pub gigs, you can tailor the sound fairly easily, and it's easy to lug/stow. So far then, so good!

Incredibly deep and powerful bass
I have owned the Mackie DLM12S for years and use it regularly with a Mackie DL1608 mixer and 2 DLM8 speakers. In short. These subwoofers are incredible at producing extremely powerful and deep bass. At a specific large venue, I am able to produce more bass with a single DLM 12S sub than others who set up there with dual 18” subs. I constantly receive comments about how much power that single sub has. In my experience, others who have not experienced the same results, may need to look at the eq of the signal they’re sending from their mixer.

Meh
I just true these at two events over the weekend. The DLM12 mains are amazing. The subs however leave much to be desired. The compact size is great but for a DJ they just aren't enough. I used two mains and two subs for a corporate DJ gig. They weren't clipping but they just didn't have the output for a DJ. Think guy with a guitar and microphone on a deck. These would be perfect for that. 2 of them can't beat my 1 JBL PRX 18.

Mackie DLM
I have been using powered speakers for the last 10 years or so in both a band and a single act setting. I have played through the older style Mackie 450's, Peavey 112's, QSC K-12's, jbl EON, and Electro-voice 12's. I originally bought one DLM8 and one DLM 12 to see which I liked the best, then I would buy another of my choice and use the other for a monitor. My first gig, a small bistro single gig, I used them together and A/B'd them as well. Both units were head and shoulders above anything I have used previously. The clarity was greatly improved as well as the overall balance of the speakers. Several people at the show, who have heard me play several times, commented on how clear the sound was. I play through an A&H ZED mixer and no other effects than the onboard reverb. After the gig I decided to get another DLM12. The sound was just more robust, I'm sure due to the larger speaker and slightly larger cab. I can get by very easily using just one speaker. I place it high on a stand behind me and it fills rooms holding up to 300 people with ease. I do use a Furman power conditioner because of the digital components. It is after all a small computer. This makes the system whisper quiet even at high volume. Because of he warmth and clarity of the system it's really easy to dial in a great sound in almost no time. I would highly recommend looking into these speakers if you are looking to upgrade your system.
