Google Nest Thermostat - Programmable Smart Learning Thermostat with Easy Installation and Trim Kit Bundle, White

This is the simplest smart thermostat they make. And it can be used with a remote sensor optionally. And it is cheap! It is great for older adults that cannot deal well with small buttons, cluttered displays and complications. They can just turn the dial up or down and it has a nice large display of the current setting. Kind of like an old school thermostat that elderly people understand. A basic DIY person can install it and get it set up.

Please note that this is an old, discontinued model. It features a non-standard internal battery (not AA/AAA), and mine was completely dead on arrival. I wasted hours testing it with a multimeter to verify the issue. Because of its poor design, the battery is impossible to change or repair. You are purely relying on luck to get a functional unit. Save your time and money.

Given the price and quality this is a great buy. Works well, but when I first opened the package the battery was drained, so I plugged it in to a charger, but there was no indication it was charging (usually there's a light or it powers on) so I mistakenly assumed the battery cell was shot and asked for a refund. I was refunded quickly and they said to keep the product, which is great and all, but after leaving it on the charger for the rest of the day, I realized it was actually working now. I feel really bad and like an idiot for not suspecting it might be charging even without any indication and rushing to sort out a refund. I reached out to support to try to get charged again because I feel bad about my mistake and the vendor deserves to receive payment for a working product, hopefully they sort this all out.

They're good thermostats

Easy to install, exactly as pictured. Had to plug it into a wall charger to get it to charge enough to link it to WiFi and stuff because it would try and find a network then it would die and reboot. Only thing is the display is very light, almost like there is a sticker on the front but there isn’t. Will come in handy with saving on heat bills with eco mode. 2nd time buying a learning thermostat and I love them.

The nest came in dead so I charged it up. After that I installed like normal but I never could get past scanning the QR code. Wifi connection,phone connection or app connection did not work. This is the second nest e that has done this to me. All my 3rd gen nest thermostats have worked fine so I assume it's a nest e problem.

Unfortunately this tstat would not work with our system. Their customer service was contacted after Amazon said no returns on this product. They had me send it back and quickly refunded my purchase price. They were awesome.

I love it! why didnt I get one sooner?? i know my first electric bill will be cheaper. it doesnt run all day when no one is home. I can adjust it from my bed. it shows detailed info on my phone. there was a c wire issue where cool are was on when it was supposed to be heat but that is apparently comments and easy to fix in settings. chat gpt helped me change the settings and its all good now. im very very happy with this.
