Useless.. never works outside home. I added it to my kid’s backpack but it never shows current location. Always shows last location home even after 7-8 hours when my kid is actually in school.

Lasted for 6months. Changed the battery and still doesn’t work anymore

This is a great tag, I hid it in my backpack and it's nice to know that it's not easy to remove. All you need is a really strong magnet and I'm pretty sure any thief would know that so it's not completely foolproof but it's gonna deter removal. The battery opening is on the same side as the pin, so if you pin it to something that's somewhat firm someone won't be able to easily remove the battery and disable it. There’s one thing it won’t do, Apple calls it “Precision finding” where you can locate it by walking around and have your phone tell you which direction to turn and how close you are.That’s a huge feature that isn’t here. Let’s say your luggage gets lost. If it’s stuck in Denver you’ll at least know what city it’s in, and if you aren’t in Denver that’s super helpful. …But let’s say you landed in Las Vegas and it says it’s in Las Vegas but you can’t find it at the carousel. Precision Finding lets you walk around the pile of bags and it’ll tell you when you’re getting closer to your specific bag. This tag is great for knowing where your item is in general but it won’t show you exactly where to find it. I use a mix of these less expensive tags and proper Apple AirTags depending on how important it is to know exactly where something is and where I’m likely to lose it. Keys? I need precise location because it’s in my home. My laptop bag? I just need to know where it is so I can go back to the place where I left it.

First of all, this are like AirTags. these are NOT traditional GPS devices. I think that people understand GPS to be trackers and traditional GPS works directly with satellites. These work by all nearby iPhones (securely) recognizing the signal they put out and reporting the position using the phones GPS to the iCloud FindMy system. this can be fairly real time if there are iPhones near the device. if not, it can take a little time for someone to pass the device and report it again. IF YOU NEED REALTIME, you have to buy an actual GPS unit that comes with a monthly subscription! All That said, this works in the iCloud system great. AS far as I can tell, as well as the Apple devices. it is bigger than the Apple devices, as it has a pin attachment built in to attach to fabric much like the security devices that are in clothing stores. You need the supplied magnetic "unlocker" to remove the pin. This worked great to pin the tag inside our daughter's backpacking a place that it would be difficult to detect swiping the floor of the bag. And it will be difficult to remove without the unlocker. This is a good value and is water resistant.

UPDATE: After my review was published, the seller proactively contacted me and offered a refund. Because I was reviewing an evaluation unit I hadn't paid for, I declined the offer. Still, it was a good move on their part. Upgrading from 1 to 2 stars. Although customer service is more positive, the product experience was abysmal, as described below. INITIAL REVIEW FOLLOWS UNEDITED: Setting it up was easy -- but the step-by-step process with my Apple app was not exactly what was described. And then I ran into problems. I'll describe all of this. First though, the method of removing the pin (a set of 4 pins is provided that enable you to pin the tag to clothing, etc.) is pretty ingenious. I may not have figured it out without the simple instructions. The package includes a small but powerful magnet that deactivates something so the pin can be removed easily. I don't know what would happen if the magnet was lost. Second, back to device setup. The device has a battery installed (more on this later), so I could power it up right away. It makes a soft noise when started. Then, to set it up, you go inside the "Find My" app that is included with Apple iPhones and iPads. The options within "Find My" were not exactly mirrored on my iPhone. I suspect there's a version issue. But I got it to find the tag, fast and easy. The instructions recommend "Check for Updates" on the device but I couldn't figure out how to do that, and the instructions weren't helpful. Once the tag was connected to the Find My app, it worked perfectly (inside the app, you need to select "Other" when adding the device, by the way, not "AirTag"). Then, trouble began. I soon noticed the tag had been dropped from the iPhone's Bluetooth. I tried powering it up again, but nothing happened. So I opened the battery compartment. There, I found the battery was partly covered with a white powder that had also gotten inside the battery compartment. I don't know what the powder is. I removed the battery and replaced it with the new, still packaged battery that had been provided with the tag, wiping the powder away as well as I could (it was pretty stubborn). The instructions say to replace the battery by placing it "up." Normally there are - or + sign markings to provide guidance, but I could find none. I took a guess and powered up the device. it made a sound, but wasn't discovered by the Find My app. I tried changing the battery around and repeated. Surprisingly, this time it made a sound again but still wasn't discovered by the app. The device worked perfectly at first, but since I changed the battery (due to the powdery substance on the battery and inside the battery compartment), I can't repeat that first performance. I don't know whether's it's me or the device that isn't working correctly, and the instructions are of no help at this point. They have no troubleshooting information. When this device worked, it was great. Now, it doesn't work, so it's useless. Summary: Downer.

The UtagPro GPS tracker is well made and feels like a solid unit, some feel really cheap as they are made of plastic, and wouldn't last especially if you attach to keys, as this is made of metal, it's perfect to attach to keys etc, rather than a plastic casing which would break off. It comes with 2x batteries, one is already installed, but they also provide a second as a spare, which is pretty nice of them, this will last a few yrs at least. The great feature with this tracker is, it comes equipped with a magnetic attachment system, like how retails stores attach security tags to clothes. You can pin this tracker to the inside of clothes and it releases with the included magnet attacher/detacher (not sure what you call it). Although it says waterproof, not sure you'd want to keep it attached when putting the clothes in the wash though lol. The other great thing is, it seamlessly connects to Apple's Find My, it's not real time but it does need another phone to ping off to send signals so you can track it via the app. It is also not Precision Tracking but it does get you close enough, to then ping the device and it will send an alarm sound so you can hear to find the item close by. It works very well and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get a GPS tracker.

I am delighted with this GPS tracker. It is so quick and easy to set up and within seconds it was successfully connected to Apple Find My. The tracker comes with a battery already installed and a spare battery. You can attach it to your keychain (if it's thin) but it also has metal pins that you can use to attach it to clothing or bags and a magnet to remove it. The hole at the top could do with being a bit bigger as it's quite a tight fit on my keyring, but this doesn't bother me as I've attached the tracker to the inside pocket of my bag. For £19.99 (at the time of review), it’s a fantastic tracker and one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Easy to set up on the find my app. This tracker is ideal for inside a bag or suitcase. The pin holds it in position and needs the special magnet to remove it, rather like a store tag. A great way to check if your suitcase is on the plane and arrival at your destination. In this day. of bag thefts etc at least you can find your bag if it is dumped somewhere. Comes with a spare battery.
