Bit costly but very effective product

Box was not sealed and deformed but simple pressure with finger from inside straightened it out. Rinsed matrix biomedia before introducing it into my SunSun HW 403B canister filter. Ill wait and see how it would perform. And also remember that purigen is a must in the last stage of filtration.

I expected better quality from Seachem, however I was surprised to see many discolored non pumice stones mixed with the media. More over most pumice stones were tiny, like as if they packed this lot from left over batch of tiny leftover rubble.Had to clean it under water several times to remove the powder and then use it.Overall the amount of media was more than expected, can say easily more then 1 kg, hence it compensates for the non pumice stones and tiny stones. But you need to use fine mesh bag to avoid matrix from flowing into motor impeller.Can’t say about effectiveness, as I have other seeded media over 5 Kgs already taking care of the nitrites. Just wanted to try out matrix as a long term media instead of ceramic rings.I guess time will only tell how good it is lasts. Will write a review again after 1 year

Just got this product yesterdayThe package does not have a typical seal on it and also inside the box there seems to be a wooden stick both of which seems very strange for a company like Seachem.On the delivery front this came via Amazon Transportation- Had ordered another product at the same time as this which the seller sent via Indiapost, imagine the India post delivered before Amazon Transportation. Both items were shipped from Mumbai and Gujrat.1st photo you will see the box2nd shows the stick inside the box, ain't that very strange unless someone restocked original3rd no seal on the inside top of the box

Ho scelto Seachem Matrix 1000 ml per potenziare la filtrazione biologica del mio acquario d’acqua dolce da 125 litri, filtrato con un JBL e902 esterno. Nel filtro avevo già materiale biologico tradizionale, ma volevo aumentare la superficie disponibile per i batteri nitrificanti e rendere il sistema più stabile, soprattutto con una popolazione abbastanza importante di pesci.L’ho inserito insieme al materiale biologico già presente, senza sostituire tutto il filtro in una volta. Dopo alcune settimane la situazione è molto stabile: NO₂ sempre a 0 mg/L, mentre i nitrati restano sotto controllo con i normali cambi d’acqua settimanali.Mi piace molto la struttura estremamente porosa del materiale e il fatto che non sia un consumabile da sostituire frequentemente: è sufficiente sciacquarlo delicatamente con acqua dell’acquario quando necessario.Nel mio caso l’obiettivo era proprio rafforzare la gestione del carico biologico ed evitare accumuli di nitriti, e fino ad ora il risultato è stato pienamente soddisfacente. Prodotto più costoso rispetto ai classici cannolicchi, ma per un filtro esterno ben dimensionato secondo me vale la spesa.

I added wood to the inside of my aquarium. The wood leaked tannins into the water and turned it brown. I added this along with charcoal filters to one of my two filters and it pulled and keeps pulling the tannins out. The other benefit is more surface area for helpful bacteria.

good stuff...does what it says on the box....been using it for years!
