In an alternate world where the mere presence of American superheroes changed history, the US won the Vietnam War, Nixon is still president, and the cold war is in full effect. WATCHMEN begins as a murder-mystery, but soon unfolds into a planet-altering conspiracy. As the resolution comes to a head, the unlikely group of reunited heroes--Rorschach, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias--have to test the limits of their convictions and ask themselves where the true line is between good and evil. In the mid-eighties, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons created WATCHMEN, changing the course of comics' history and essentially remaking how popular culture perceived the genre. Popularly cited as the point where comics came of age, WATCHMEN's sophisticated take on superheroes has been universally acclaimed for its psychological depth and realism. WATCHMEN is collected here with a new cover, sketches, extra bonus material and a new introduction by series artist Dave Gibbons. A Milestone in the World of Comics
Alan Moore's masterpiece. One should always goes for this comic book, instead of watching the movie or web-series; 'cause this book is simply unadaptable. No matter how much good the direction will be, it'll be unadaptable. It's not only because of the good storyline of this book, but how the story is being told, simply magical. Throughout the book, secondary color pallets are used (like violet, pink, light yellow), instead of primay colors. The primary colors are only used during action, violence & homicide. The collaboration b/w writer and illustrator is simply magnificent. My only big disappointment is the paperback binding Quality of DC. It's very poor. The pages are coming out of the book, within 3-4 days, after buying.

A psychological superhero tale, delivered in perfect condition by Amazon.
Considered a classic by many, Watchmen is a realistic take on the superhero genre which manages to convey a very brutal psychological story of being a superhero in a world like ours. Although it uses some Sci-Fi elements, but believe me, this is very convincing about how humans would behave in a twisted world where you have to question your morality at almost every thing you do while trying to make the world a better place. It shows us how history would have changed if superheroes existed and provides us with an alternate story of the same. The story is complicated but mature (intended for mature audiences). I can understand its influence now, in many media, and can appreciate the fact that it was published back in 1986; it kind of changed the genre very much. Reading it now, I was still able to enjoy it, as it was a breath of fresh air. The artwork is good, although reading it now shows its age. Nonetheless, it is very interesting to read the panels and the transition between them can be very fluid at times. The story progression is nice, with additional content at the end of each chapter that helps in further deepening the character arcs and lets us know what is going on in that time. The characters feel human, and we get to know how society affects people in becoming what they are now. It shows us the flaws in the same, and how they can lead to devastating results. This is a superhero story like no other. I found it very interesting. Any fan of the genre should read this at least once. About the condition of the product: it was delivered in great condition, without any scratches, bends or tears, for which I am grateful. The quality of the product is very good, and definitely worth collecting. Read this graphic novel first before watching the movie or the TV series. This way you would be able to appreciate this great work. The story is different if you have not read anything like this before, and worth a shot. Thank you for reading this review.

Love this book! And the packaging was great!
Usually, whenever I order a comic online, the packaging is mostly damaged in some way. But this one was great, it came in a box (which is thoughtful, so it won't get bent when it's being delivered) and was undamaged and intact. The comic (or graphic novel) is a great one! Probably, the greatest comic ever written. The story, the original characters and the plot are epic, definitely a must-read.

The only problem is that people see Watchmen as a Superhero story but it actually is a great PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
The most top notch writing in comics defining human existence and our social fads in a single book. The truly artistic graphic novel with hardcore realism. All those liberals and intellectuals and smooth talkers....and all of a sudden, they don't know what to say. Rorschach's journal, Oct 12 1985. Today, a comedian died in New York. There are very few pieces in comic books that are absolute pieces of art and ...this is one of them. The only problem is that people see Watchmen as a Superhero story but it actually is a great PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER. It's the only reason that the Watchmen movie didn't make big news. It confused the audience. The comic fans said they changed a lotta things, so not worth it. The non-fans said they couldn't understand this thing as they all came for just cheap super-heroics. So, if you're into comic books, you need to have a copy of WATCHMEN- A GREAT PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER. TDKR and Watchmen have been exchanging the title of greatest comic book ever, so I guess ...Miller n Moore forever.

Amazing storytelling and unforgettable artwork
I had previously watched the Watchmen movie by Zack Snyder. However, the movie did not remotely ruin the book for me. In fact, it helped me associate character faces with recognizable actors and events from the comic to the movie. While the matter of how compelling and intriguing the story is could be left to the reader's taste, nevertheless the story-TELLING presented in this graphic novel is beyond compare. The brilliant switching between alternate storylines and the artwork working like any good movie camera shot is marvelous. While the alternating storylines may get murky and confusing at first, but eventually the reader will come to the realization that they are in fact all connected, if not physically, but philosophically. And when that realization hits, thats the moment of truth of why Watchmen in fact was truly hailed as the best graphic novel ever published.

great book, great edition
not much i can say about this masterpiece that hasn't already been said. i love it to bits, you know it's fantastic, alan moore is a genius, we get it. as for the edition itself, the book came in excellent condition, the artwork looks stunning, and the extra features add to the Watchmen experience. the cover art is also my favorite version of the trade paperback, though that's a matter of personal preference. overall, great purchase of a great edition of a great read.

Absolutely stunning, a magnum opus
The item: the book is made in classic paperback, some 450 pages long. Quality is like a standard textbook you find at school; regular paper, no frills or adornments. The colour printing is good without bleeding, the black/white sections are also well rendered. The book contains the actual story as well as a whole bunch of sketches and commentaries by Dave Gibbons and others. The story: this is one of the best epic comics I have ever read. In case you are thinking about watching the movie first, I'd advice you read this book first since the twist ending is spectacular. If you have seen the movie already, you will find this book follows that story pretty closely, with some additional side-plots and backstories not covered in the film. The conclusion is also a bit different as the book contains an epilogue of sorts. The quality is undeniable: each panel tells a story, their wonderful details revealing one layer after another, subtly letting the reader take in the impressions piece by piece. You can study each panel separately and drown in the details - it's the kind of book you can read again and again, discovering new details every time. Some times, a panel's text will be connected with the next, despite the next panel showing a different scene. You will know what I mean when you read it. Because you will read it. If you are a fan of comics, which I take it you are if you bother reading reviews about one, you must read it.
