I must have shooting/training aid
The Mantis Blackbeard has completely changed the way I train at home. Installation was simple, and within minutes I was running realistic dry-fire drills with my AR without having to rack the charging handle after every trigger pull. The auto-resetting trigger is a game changer and makes practice sessions smoother, faster, and much more enjoyable. As a Marine Corps veteran and lifelong firearms enthusiast, I’ve spent plenty of time behind a rifle, and the Blackbeard is one of the most effective dry-fire training tools I’ve ever used. It allows me to safely work on trigger control, target transitions, sight picture, and presentation right from home. The laser feedback is excellent, and when paired with the Mantis app, it adds a whole new level of data and accountability to training. The system has been incredibly reliable, the battery lasts longer than expected, and the build quality is top-notch. I’ve noticed improvements in my speed and consistency, and because it’s so convenient, I find myself practicing far more often than before. Best of all, I’m able to get meaningful reps in without spending money on ammo or making a trip to the range. If you’re serious about improving your AR skills, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced shooter, the Mantis Blackbeard is worth every penny. It’s one of those rare products that actually exceeds expectations. I don’t say that lightly—this has become an essential part of my training routine, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to keep their skills sharp.

Great Practice Tool
Great design and function. Works seamlessly with app. Does have a little learning curve and fit snug in my pew pew. Make sure you already have the Mantis targets or purchase them to accompany this. They are required for full functionality with mantis app.

Worth every penny!
Exactly what I hoped it would be! It's expensive yes, but I would've paid $600 to not have to rack a charging handle after each pull. I would have given 5 stars but I did experience an issue quickly after receiving. Not as durable as I hoped for as I broke it after a week of using it. I dry fired the heck of this thing so much that it melted the battery contacts and broke from the over heating. I reached out to Mantis customer service and they responded same day and sent my replacement covered under warranty the next day so I'm back in action. Great product, great warranty, EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, and loads of fun! You won't be disappointed with the purchase!

I train with it daily.
The best and easiest way to get in some daily practice in the comfort of your home. Combined with the app it offers multiple drills and parameters to increase accuracy, smooth operation, and reaction times. My only complaint is the adjustment screws can fit a little loose and it needs to be zeroed with almost every use.

Great Product, but disgustingly OVERPRICED
The purpose of this Product is a 10/10. It’s an incredibly useful tool and has a purpose. That said I returned for several reasons as it’s disgustingly overpriced like most gun related things. I am sick of how overpriced things are these days and 50% of the blame is on Consumers for paying it. I fully understand needing to make a profit, but it should be illegal to up charge more than double of the cost. This thing is likely up charged anywhere from 175% to 475%. Need more competition and regulation. Pros: - Easy installation - Easy to adjust - Purpose Cons: - PRICE - Only useable in low light - Requires a poorly designed App only for Apple and Android that requires A MONTHLY Subscription! - Charging: Uses a Micro-USB in 2024 instead of a Type-C and takes like 10+ hours to fully charge. How to Improve - For the insane currently asked Price it would be nice if the part that goes where the BCG goes had some kind of system inside that mimicked kickback. - Might be cool to add something that makes gunshot noises when trigger is pulled. - Laser needs to be way brighter so it can be used any time of the day SOFTWARE - Software should be included with every purchase by including a subscription key tied to the serial number. - Needs a complete overhaul along with a Windows Application that can use external webcams because trying to use a phone camera to capture a target is near impossible as a deep breathe messes it up. I have an iPhone 16 Pro and even used a Tripod and it was miserable

Buy it you will not regret it!!!
A true Game changer for training. If you have many many years of trigger training from whatever department or agency you were with, then you may not need all the telemetry of the Blackbeard X, but you will want the laser and the trigger reset of the 1st Gen Blackbeard. For the rest of us that want to getting started or just wanting to be better with our time to target and trigger pull than the X is where it's at!. I use the app at home setting up my own training scenarios and the telemetry is very nice. But, 1 once a month I get to use it in CQB training and all we need is to see the laser and feel the trigger reset. Very versatile. I bought the red and my buddy bought the green. He likes the green as its a different color than his optic and green shows up better outside where he like to train.

Solid Training Tool, but Comes with Frustrations
The Mantis BlackbeardX works as advertised—installation is simple, tracking is accurate, and it’s a useful tool for dry-fire training. However, there are several drawbacks that hold it back from being a truly great product. If you purchase the package that includes the BlackbeardX and Smart Targets, you’d expect seamless integration, but instead, you need two separate apps to get full functionality—and frustratingly, you can’t use them together. Adjusting elevation and windage can be precise, but the adjustments feel loose or janky, which can make fine-tuning frustrating. The micro-USB charging port is an outdated choice in a world of USB-C, and target tracking can be temperamental, affecting consistency in drills. The biggest disappointment? Microtransactions. After spending over $300, it’s frustrating to see certain features locked behind a paywall. This is the kind of practice I expect from shady gaming companies, not the firearm training industry. To make things worse, Amazon’s pricing for this system is noticeably inflated compared to Mantis’ own website. If you’re considering purchasing, it’s worth checking their official site for better deals. Additionally, the battery takes a long time to charge, which isn’t ideal for quick training sessions. While its longevity is supposed to be solid, the slow charge time could be a nuisance. At this price point, I expected a more seamless experience without extra costs. While the core functionality is solid, I’m still on the fence about whether it’s truly worth the money.
