DF54 Single Dose Coffee Grinder (Black)

1 Month Update: I still really love this grinder. Best value purchase for the grind quality you get. After about 1-2 weeks of use, I noticed more static in the grinds, but a simple clean with the included chute brush resolved this and it's back to clean static free output. I've also started to spray my light roast beans, but not necessary for dark to medium roasts. I still love the look and how sturdy yet quiet it is. I also recommend hot starting for grinding to help maintain grind consistency. No clogging issues whatsoever. You can't go wrong with this grinder if you're looking for something for home that provides a quality grind to elevate your espresso journey. Original review: I wasn't one of the early adopters of the DF54, so I had to wait for the next batch shipment to be available so I could get my hands on one. My previous grinder was a Baratza Encore that barely met standards in terms of a good espresso grind (very inconsistent, muddy flavors), which it wasn't really designed for. I've read some of the complaints of the DF54 in terms of the zero point and static issues and I have to say so far I have none of those issues. Maybe they tweaked the manufacturing to address some of the prior issues to improve Quality Control on these latest arrivals. 1. My DF54 right out of the box hasn't had any static issues yet, even when grinding light roasts (which tend to have more static than darker roasts). 2. The Zero Point was spot on. Just turning the dial a hair past "0" was where the gear "chirping" happened, so I'm happy with this calibration. 3. First few grinds had a little bit of retention, but after that and using the bellows, the final grind comes to +/- 0.1g from the initial beans dosed. 4. Some video reviews talked about how the bellows come off too easily from the grinder, but with mine, the bellows are fairly snug that if I try to remove them, the "anti-popcorning" cap slips out with it, so seems everything fits well together. I haven't check the burr alignment on this unit, but so far I don't feel like I need to. For Espresso grinds, I have it set in the vicinity of 20, and my shots so far have produced wonderful clarity for fruity notes, but enough smoothness for flavors like vanilla. Very satisfied with my purchase. I really love the compact design, the quiet operation and pairs well with my Bambino Plus. I'll provide an update in 1 month.

For fine espresso grinds, this grinder is prone to clogging. I've used it pretty much daily for over a year. I thought I had it cleared up, but it is back to clogging. If you only grind coarse for pour overs, like above 30 or 40, it seems to be fine. But for darker and oilier beans - like most espresso beans - and at fine grinds below indicated 15, it just sometimes clogs. The chute is not well designed. The chute is also not easy to disassemble for cleaning. Manual only tells you how to pull the top burr off. I'm having to mail order a replacement "declumper" from MiiCoffee, they are not available on Amazon. Yes I'm doing all the right things, starting the grinder before adding beans, spraying the beans with a water mist, adding a few beans at a time. Lots of people will tell you this will work and if you just do it right you'll have no problems. Well, not in my case. It's very heavy and well made in most respects, quiet, and capable of fine consistent grinds. But that's only true if it doesn't clog up. Anyway, in total very very very frustrating.

March 3, 2025 Good grinder so far but with minor annoyance - The quality is good but it came without configuration. I rotate until it the burr touch and it is -7. Instead heating up the dial and remove it and line up with 0 at the touch I just extend the dial with negative mark. So I grind at 4 (means 4+7=11). - The grinder produce consistence grind but some of the finer grind will stick to the side and eventually fully block the chute even with the ionizer. I need to clean the chute every week or use the bristle to clean it every time I use it. - I have no problem with only 150W as I always turn it on before pour in the beans. - Grinding your own bean is a messy business. No matter how careful you are you will still get ground everywhere. I am keeping this grinder and will update after a few more months. 4.7 star with points mention above. Update::: messy grinding, clogging often... a piece of junk!!!

I upgraded from a Breville Smart Grinder Pro (2026). After 1 week, and ~20 espressos, I have no regrets! This grinder (v1.4) has improved grind-consistency, less grind retention, less noise, produces less clumps, and is smaller. I haven't experienced clogging or clumping, which seem to be the prevalent issues in reviews. I use the included brush after ~5 espressos and my understanding is these issues were significantly mitigated in v1.3/v1.4 of this grinder. It's much easier for me to dial-in and maintain consistent results because this grinder has eliminated much of variation in grind and distribution (which necessitated more WDT finesse). Less frustration, and more delicious espressos. Yassss.

Bought this based on a James Hoffman video, and am not disappointed. Adjustment is smooth and holds it's setting well. Still not hard to take apart to clean. Grind seems nice and consistent. Solid build feel, this unit is a UNIT. I was skeptical about the bellows, but it does work well, very little grind is left behind. Relatively quiet too, and the noise it does make is not that horrible screeching I hear other grinders make (for me it was the biggest selling point from the video tbh). Half star off for each of two minor issues. One, the power button is awkward to reach and use when the machine is one of a row of coffee-making gadgets. If it really has to be located where it is a toggle would be much easier. Second, the supplied plastic cup is probably 90% of the remaining static issue others have noted - throw it away and get a cheap metal cup from elsewhere on this site instead, it dissipates static much better (I use a 3.5oz metal ramekin). Note the bracket does not fit my 54mm Breville portafilter, so no grinding directly into it.

Very disappointed in the quality of this product (or at least my unit, though further googling reveals other owners with similar issues). At first it seemed great. Quiet operation, very low retention, nice, consistent grind size. A week in, though, I pulled the plug and am returning it. Deal breaking issues for me: 1. Grind size adjustment binds when going smaller. I expect to adjust it frequently between pour over and espresso grinds, but after the first use, the dial refuses to turn towards smaller sizes, only going down 5-10 at a time, before it binds and I have to back it up 10-20. Over and over again until I get down to my espresso grind size. 2. Clogs frequently, causing the motor to stall. After 4-5 uses, I went to turn it on and the motor just hummed for a seconds before locking up. Cleaned the chute and it worked for just half a dose before stalling again. Had to remove the top burr and vacuum out all the bean debris. Two grinds later, it happened again. (This all at pour over grind sizes, with light/medium roasts) 3. Anti-static? Hah! Every dose, the chute and front of the grinder get coated in grounds, they fall all around the dosing cup, making a mess on the cup holder and counter top.

My previous grinder was conical and not bad to start with. However, it does not go fine enough for good espresso. I decided to buy this one as a replacement and I can't be happier with it. It is built of metal like a tank and I don't doubt that it will last. Even the power cord is wrapped in flexible high quality insulation. I only wish it had a 30 second power cut-off timer so I can leave it be and focus on the coffee machine in the meantime. It is very easy to use and much quieter than my conical grinder. It produces unifomr grounds which make tasty espresso even with my inexpensive De'longhi ECP3420. I upgraded to a bottomless portafilter and that brought my morning espresso an extra notch up. My main gripe with the morning espresso procedure now is to run it while sleepy. I use medium and dark roasts. The medium roast never produced a static field with either of my grinders. The dark roast used to make very bad static with my previous grinder, but a tiny spray of water on the beans removed it entirely. This grinder does not exhibit static with either roast type but I still toss a wet hand on the dark beans just in case. I can imagine how messy static can be given the cup does not close around the exit chute. The motor is plenty powerful and sounds the same regardless of whether idle or grinding. No signs of struggle.

Coming from a Capresso Infinity and then Breville Smart Grinder Pro, and having spent some time with a gen 1 DF64, I wanted a grinder that would allow me to switch between espresso and pourover, and regular and decaf beans from drink to drink. One grinder for everything. The DF54 is an appealing option as it's affordable, single dose, stepless, and compact. At first I really liked this grinder. It's small! It's quiet! It makes incredible espresso! However, after making a few drinks the grinder clogged on some dark decaf beans. After a thorough cleaning it clogged randomly. Medium roast espresso grinds did best, but I also experience clogs on some medium roast Blue Bottle Beans (at 5am! The worst possible time!). Other users complain about clogs as well - see Youtube user CaffeMartellaSingapore's video on Feb 15, he shows that simply by dosing an extra 7g of beans his DF54 clogs. The reddit r/df54 sub is absolutely chock full of people complaining about clogs, this is not an isolated issue. While the coffee this grinder makes is excellent, and the small size, low price, and quiet operation would make it ideal for home use, the clogging is incredibly frustrating. After agonizing over options I finally ordered a DF64 and while it's larger, much louder, and more expensive, I would strongly recommend it over the DF54. It handles the same beans at the same grind settings with alacrity. Far more confidence inspiring, and lower retention. My unit might just be a dud, as plenty of people don't complain about clogging, and the Turin grinders seem to suffer from quality control issues. If the DF64 didn't exist I would keep this grinder as an espresso grinder and use a different grinder for pourover. However, given that the DF64 does exist, costs the equivalent of a few bags of coffee more, and performs tremendously better, just buy a DF64. Pros: Excellent espresso Compact size Stepless adjustment Low retention Very quiet operation Cons: Small dose size Slow grind speed Static-prone plastic dosing cup Terrible clogging issues make it extremely unreliable to unusable. Two week update: I bought a DF64 and making 8 double shots a day with a variety of dark and light, cheap and expensive beans - zero issues whatsoever. Just some static and it's a bit loud. No clogs, no retention, I haven't had to disassemble anything. Tremendously less finicky than the DF54. Which is too bad, because if the 54 worked reliably I'd keep and recommend it. Six week update: DF64 has never had a single issue. I have also been experimenting with a Kingrinder K6 originally bought for travel, but find that it works incredibly well for espresso. Zero retention, easy grind adjustment. If you're just beginning with espresso I would recommend a good hand grinder. It's far easier to learn with than a cheap electric grinder. I would take a K6 over a DF54 if I were on a tight budget. Four month update: the DF64 has clogged once in four months, where the DF54 clogged at least half a dozen times in two weeks. Same users, same coffees, same workflow.

**Excellent coffee grinder - highly recommend!** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really impressed with this MiiCoffee DF54 grinder. The grind consistency is fantastic - much better than my old blade grinder. It's surprisingly quiet for a burr grinder and the build quality feels solid. Easy to adjust grind settings and minimal mess. I use it daily for my morning coffee and it's made a noticeable difference in taste. Great value for the price and would definitely buy again!

Ich habe wochenlang Mühlen recherchiert und bin immer wieder bei der DF54 gelandet – und es war die richtige Entscheidung. Für diesen Preis bekommt man diese Kombination sonst nirgendwo: Scheibenmahlwerk, Single Dosing und praktisch keine Retention. Was man einwiegt, kommt auch raus, vielleicht bleiben 0,1-0,2 g zurück, mit dem Blasebalg quasi nichts. Die Mahlqualität ist hervorragend für Espresso, die Verstellung ist stufenlos, sodass man wirklich präzise einstellen kann. Auch kaum Sauerei, die Antistatik funktioniert besser als erwartet – kurz mit dem Blasebalg gepustet und das Mahlgut fällt sauber in den Behälter. Sie ist auch leiser als gedacht. Der Workflow ist simpel: Bohnen abwiegen, mahlen, fertig. Kein alter Kaffee mehr, der im Bohnenbehälter liegt, jeder Bezug ist frisch. Die Verarbeitung fühlt sich solide und schwer an, nichts rutscht auf der Arbeitsplatte. Man müsste deutlich mehr ausgeben, um spürbar bessere Ergebnisse zu bekommen. Für Home Baristas ist das Ding ehrlich schwer zu schlagen. Sehr zufrieden.

Ho iniziato la mia avventura nel mondo del caffè da ormai due anni, iniziando in modo cauto, con un macina caffè Graef CM800 preso usato su Subito, che ha fatto onestamente il suo lavoro finora. Già da ormai sei mesi avevo adocchiato qualche macina caffè monodose, ma non mi ero mai deciso, un po' per il prezzo, e un po' per il dubbio che l'upgrade non fosse così notevole. Fino a che il DF54 non è stato recensito anche dal mitico James Hoffmann, che mi ha finalmente convinto a prenderlo. E ragazzi, CHE SODDISFAZIONE! Il DF54 vale tutti i soldi che costa e forse anche di più! La costruzione è impeccabile, e oltretutto l'estetica si sposa alla grande con la mia cucina (dettaglio un po' meno rilevante ma comunque degno di nota) è bello pesante, ben rifinito e soprattutto silenziosissimo! Un altro pianeta rispetto al mio Graef di prima! Il caffè macinato esce bello arioso, senza grumi e dalla granulometria costante. La regolazione è un po' dura, ma ci vuole perché non cambi durante la macinatura, come invece succede al Varia VS2 in tante recensioni. Insomma, una vera soddisfazione, non ve ne pentirete!

Tocó jubilar a mi Baratza Virtuoso+, sin embargo no podría estar más encantado. La calidad de construcción es excelente, es robusto, pesado, pero requiere poco espacio. El unico punto donde podría mejorar es en cable, ya que si se siente de una calidad mas baja (Tomando como referencia el cable del Molino Baratza). Pros: - Practicamente 0g de retención. - Se pueden percibir notas en el café con mayor claridad (Espresso y filtrado). - Es rápido comparado al baratza. - Hace poco ruido. - El Ionizador funciona perfecto, no se hace un desastre. - El "Anti popcorn" funciona muy bien, no se andan saltando los granos. Puntos de mejora: - El cable si se ve medio chafa, la verdad. - No viene un manual donde te diga que rango se recomienda para prensa, filtrados y espresso. - El punto 0, no es en realidad el 0, tienen desfase de fábrica. En el mio el 0 esta en el -5. (No es un problema que haga malo este molino, hay piezas impresas 3D para corregir esto). - Si lo pensabas usar para filtrado, puede que no sea el mejor, ya que su muelas estan mas pensadas para espresso y crea bastantes granos finos. (Hay una técnica llamada "Slow Feeding" que ayuda a la uniformidad). Notas: - Toma en cuenta que podria taradar bastante en llegar, el mio tardo casi un mes.
