The Otter Box commuter series iPhone case is a great for people who live an active lifestyle, or for people who work in harsh environments and tend to be hard on things. As for me, I like to take my phone with me while I workout, go horseback riding, or work around the farm. With my way of life, I like my phone case to be durable, thin, easy to manipulate, shatter resistant, and wont show signs of wear. This phone case not only meets my expectations, but it exceeds them. My Criteria: • Durability: I spend a lot of time outdoors, and it is not uncommon for my phone to fall out of my pocket onto the ground or into a pigpen for that matter. I tend to be a little rough on things and I like a phone case that can keep up with my hardworking livelihood. • Thin: What I like best about this phone case is that it’s thin enough to fit into the back pocket of my jeans. Most of the “protective” cases I’ve seen are very bulky and hard to carry around in your pockets. This case also fits perfectly in my small hands. • Easy to Manipulate: When I need to plug my phone into the charger or connect my headphones, I don’t have to un-screw or un-snap anything compared to the lifeproof cases. That was always a problem for me, as it took way too long to just simply plug in my charger, or connect my headphones. • Shatter Resistant: I like that this phone case is shatter resistant without having to completely enclose my phone inside a case. I want my phone case to be able to withstand being dropped, chewed on by a pig, and stepped on by a horse. Unbelievably, this case has survived it all. • No Signs of Wear: I chose the black case because I knew that if I got a lighter color it would show dirt and other stains. I am also happy to have found out that it also doesn’t get scratched up from being dropped. I’ve had this case for a year and it still looks brand new. Downfall: Although I am very satisfied with this phone case, if there is one thing I could change about it, would be to make it waterproof or at least water resistant. This is not a necessity by any means; however, it would just be an added bonus to be able to take your phone with you everywhere, knowing you could potentially be getting your phone wet and it would be just fine. Summary: Overall I am very satisfied with this product and would highly recommend this case to anyone who wants a durable, protective phone case that isn’t bulky. I am pleased with how long it has lasted, and not only does the case look brand new, but has kept my phone looking brand new as well.

I've owned many Otterbox cases and the COMMUTER series for iPhones are some of my favorites. They are slim enough to not feel too chunky to use, but still, offer two-layer protection. The port coverage for the 3.5mm headphone jack and the lightning connector are adequate to keep out water and dust, yet still easy to open to access the ports. The ommission of a cover over the slider on the left side of the iPhone that silences it is odd to me, as it makes the phone vulnerable to water, unlike the DEFENDER series case. The covered volume and power buttons are somewhat impacted by the silicon case coverage. (It takes more effort to depress the buttons with the case on.) . However, this really should be expected by a case of this type and once you get used to it it's not a problem. The camera is not obscured at all by the COMMUTER case. The case did come with a screen protector (peel and stick kind) that I decided not to use. Instead, I purchased a ballistic glass screen protector which fits well on the slightly curved face of the iPhone 6, but there's still a 2mm gap on the edges between the screen protector and the COMMUTER case. The case does not impair the iPhone's functionality and gives it great protection from drops (up to 6' in my opinion...). It's easy to put on the device and take off if needed, yet has a snug fit. I'm pleased with the protection this case provides for my iPhone 6. The iPhone slides easily in and out of my pocket in the case, and I feel confident that the device will survive a drop IF I miss my pocket. For me, that's a great case. NOTE: This case does have a slick outer-layer that some users will not find helpful in the prevention of phone drops. The DEFENDER series would be better for you if that's an issue, but it will add bulk to the phone with a thicker case.

Otterbox’s commuter case, designed to fit the iPhone 6 and 6s, is a perfect solution to protect your phone while maintaining professionalism in a business environment. I have used this this for almost six months in an on-the-go job, and my iPhone 6s is in the same condition as the day I bought it, even after dropped down a flight of stairs, smashed up against the wall of a subway train, and walked through the pouring rain. You will not be disappointed by this product. Here are some of the things that I love about it. Appearance (5/5) During my time with this phone case, I have met with several congressmen, embassy officials, and other government officials. The sleek black color fits well within this professional environment. You will most definitely not be embarrassed to pull your phone out to check email or answer a call. In the past, I have gone without using a phone case because I didn’t think the designs were appropriate for the environment. With this phone case, you can maintain a strong level of safety for your phone while still being professional. Protection for Phone (4.5/5) As far as drops and smashes are concerned, this phone case is more than sufficient for most cases. I have even walked through the pouring rain while talking on my phone and the phone received no water damage. That being said, this case is definitely not waterproof, and if your job contains a large amount of water-related risk, you should opt for a more robust case. I believe the case has a few weak points, those being an expose mute button and speaker port. An environment with dust may prove hazardous to a phone housed in this case. However, you will be hard pressed to find a case that is as slim and compact as this one that provides a higher level of protection. Durability of Case (5/5) After more desk-height drops than one could count and a few stair-tumbling scares, the case does not seem to have taken any abuse. Some weak points might be the rubber flippers covering the charging port and headphone jack, but I haven’t seen any tears or abrasions through my six months of use. Unless you constantly play with them and subject your phone to drops of tremendous height, I expect this case will outlast the life of your phone. If you work in a business environment and are constantly on the go, this case is perfect for you. It will protect your phone from almost anything you could throw at, all while maintaining a professional appearance. Don’t leave your connection to the world at risk, buy this case today!

From a value standpoint, you’d be hard-pressed to find a case that offers the amount of protection while maintaining a slim profile, as you will find with this case. You can purchase this case on Amazon.com, where I purchased it, which offers a wide variety of colors readily available, or you can buy at most local phone stores, which will likely be limited on color selection I purchased the OtterBox Commuter iPhone 6 Case about three months ago after having little success keeping my phone safe with other cases. This case is slim, ergonomic, attractive, and very effective in keeping an iPhone safe. The case has a two-piece design with a rubber inner layer to absorb shock if the phone is dropped, and a hard plastic outer layer that is durable and helps protect both the inner case and phone itself. The two-layer design also aids in handling the phone, with some exposed rubber to provide some grip when needed, and the hard plastic making it easy to slide in and out of a pocket. The case has less than a quarter-inch lip around the screen, which provides great crack protection while still feeling slim. Built into the rubber layer are port covers for the headphone and charger jacks. The design is snug enough to keep the ports closed when not in use, but loose enough to easily access the ports when needed. Overall, the design of the case fits the phone very well and there are no snags or gaps that make it ineffective. I prefer slim-fitting cases, and I had always considered OtterBoxes to be bulky before purchasing one. When I purchased my iPhone 6, I bought a Spigen Exact-Fit Series case that was a thin, hard plastic case. While it felt almost as if the phone did not have a case—which was what I was wanting—the protection was almost non-existent and I shattered the screen of my phone the third time I ever dropped it. When I spent $100+ to get my screen fixed, I decided to upgrade to a case that would provide much more protection without being bulky. The Commuter series case promised OtterBox-quality protection while also being slim, and my misconception that the case would be too bulky was quickly shut down with the attractiveness and quality of the case. The only negative about the case would be the screen protector that came with, which had a difficult time sticking to the screen and made the thumb sensor difficult to access. I ended up taking it off the phone and have not had any problems without it. I would certainly recommend this case to anyone who is looking for a slim-fitting, durable phone case.

Edit: I bought this case back in like 2016 had it for 4 years and it did deteriorate over time. Mostly the hard plastic started just cracking from wear and tear. I highly recommend though because after 4 years of abuse the thing that broke my phone was it getting run over by a car, and not from the lack of protection this case provided. The photos are from 2 years ago I would say that’s when it started to break down but it held up for another two years, and considering people don’t keep phones that long anymore I’m going to say that this a solid case. I’ll start with what I enjoy about the product... The Commuter case is sleek, slim and it fits in my pocket perfectly, unlike a lot of cases now a days including some of the other cases otter box puts out. To add to that note the slimness is deceiving, but in a good way, this is probably the most shock resistant slim case I’ve ever had. Most smaller cases that barely cover your phone leave room for the screen cracking when dropped. For a slim case that’s durable this can be rather cheap even compared to cases that do nothing but look pretty; So this is a perfect fit for anyone who doesn’t like the clunky cases but wants something durable. Now the dislikes... This product is not an all in one product, it isn’t dust proof, it isn’t water proof, and there is nothing covering the screen except for a little bit of a lip around the perimeter to absorb shock This isn’t a fancy case, it’s very straightforward and kinda basic. Like all otter box cases there isn’t much design to it, you can jazz up the color but be prepared to pay extra ESPECIALLY on amazon. (You’re looking at 10-20$ more for a specific color pattern.) These last few aren’t a big deal to me, but I’ll mention it anyways in case they’re deal breakers for someone else. (Side Note: These come from having this case over an extended period of time) First, like I said, this isn’t dust proof; be prepared to be confronted with gook and grime on your phone when taking it off, if you don’t clean it regularly that is. It’s not disgustingly bad but it is noticeable. Next, although the case looks easy and simple it can be rather hard to put on and take off. A lot of the time it feels like I might break my case just from taking it off, which luckily hasn’t happened. So if you’re looking for an easy to remove case this probably won’t be it, it’s a snug fitting case. Lastly, after years of use and being a fidgety person and constantly playing with the flaps for the charger port and aux cord, the small hard plastic part at the bottom left corner that rims the screen came off. I mostly blame myself for that rather than the actual case. It seems like there’s a lot of disklikes but trust me when I say this is a quality case, it might not be for everyone, but if it fits your needs than I highly suggest it. Ok, tl;dr: If you regularly put your phone in actual danger of falling into water or high falls onto concrete, you'll need a more secure case like the Otterbox Defender or Lifeproof, but if you're just regular clumsy, this case is perfect. I had an Otterbox Commuter for my iPhone before (that I got at the Verizon store), but I dropped it too many times and one of the corners broke off. Totally not the product's fault; I am a klutz and dropped it on asphalt over the course of months and months. Anyway, I replaced it with Speck Products CandyShell Card Case for iPhone 6/iPhone 6S Wallet Case - Black/Slate Grey that I found on clearance at Office Depot and I liked the connivence of having my student ID and debit card handy. The Speck case almost immediately got extremely scratched up. You might have guessed that I'm pretty hard on my phone, but this was ridiculous. For a product that's ordinarily similar in price to the Otterbox, it should be decently well made. I'm starting a new job and I didn't want my phone to look like crap, so I got a new Otterbox. I forgot how much I loved this case. It's sleek and keeps the profile of the phone very slim. It does a really nice job of keeping crud from getting stuck inside it. If you've ever put a cheap case on your phone, you know what I mean. I like the the ports have really secure covers, but that they're easy to get on and off, even if I have to plug my phone in when I'm driving. It would be nice if the silence switch had a cover, but it's not a dealbreaker. The case really does take a beating. I regularly drop my phone on all kinds of surfaces, and it never suffers damage. Oh and finally, It doesn't get scratched up! The textured plastic makes it easy to hold and prevents the case from looking shoddy.

Wish I'd bought this case the first time round. It's really tough - but not the least bit clunky or ugly. It just looks like part of the phone now. It's a bit hard to get on if you're older and don't have strong hands anymore, but not impossible. I was at the point of giving up and going to look for help when I gave it one more try and I got it on. So maybe it just needed a bit of stretching, or I needed a few tries to get the idea. But I've learned the hard way that you really a tough case if you're planning on using your phone just about anywhere outside of an nice quiet office setting. I've had mine bumped out of my hand by someone in a hurry pushing by me, by kids running around playing; I've dropped one trying to juggle too many things at a check out; had it fall out of my pocket as I bent over to pick something else up more than once. This is the only case I've had that actually saved the phone. And since I'm using it outdoors and around children, having it protected against the hazards of blowing dust, and ubiquitous food debris is a big plus to me. The one thing I wish it did that it doesn't is be water-proof. Maybe it'll have evolved to be that by the time I need to replace it. I chose the black color because that worked best with my phone, and because I thought it would hold up looking decent for longer. I've had it around 3 months now and it looks as good as new.

These cases are one of the best cases out there. Never had a problem with them if they are genuinely otter-boxes. My original one lasted me for more than 2.5 years without issues. I still have it and just recently it started to break down, but that is 2.5 years of constant use and dropping it on the floor more than 10 times from my memory. iPhone 6 never had issues with it and it protects it very well. I noticed only a few times it was getting hot but that was because I was charging it near a window sill where there was sun shining directly on the phone (doh!). This product is good enough to spend my hard earned money on. Hope you get the same results.

even though its a commuter series (with the defender series being the ultimate case) - this case is sturdy and protects against N number of falls I've experienced so far with my phone. if you need to the phone to fit your pocket, the commuter series is good enough. worth the investment.
