This compact tiller is fantastic! It’s lightweight and easy to maneuver, but don’t let the size fool you—it has plenty of power to break up tough soil and get the garden beds ready in no time. I was amazed at how quickly it loosened hard ground and worked in compost, saving me hours of backbreaking labor with a shovel. The design makes it simple to handle, even in tight spaces or between rows, and storage is a breeze because of its smaller footprint. It starts up reliably and runs smoothly without a lot of noise or vibration. For anyone who wants a dependable, easy-to-use tiller without the bulk of a full-size machine, this is a perfect choice. It’s been a great investment for my garden!

We garden in raised beds, 3' x 8'. A conventional tiller is too large, and would destroy the bedframes. I had a small gas-powered "Mantis-Type" tiller, but it was 1,200 miles away. In addition, We live in the woods near a lake, and not only do I like quiet but our neighbors do as well. A quick search on Amazon for an electric tiller with high ratings turned up the Earthwise tiller. It arrived quickly, and assembled easily (note: instructions were a bit "meh", and if you get one put the auxillary handle on *before* you put the wing nut on the upper/lower handle parts!). Other than that little speedbump, it went together in a snap, and was ready for a test. The first raised bed I used it on was starting to deteriorate after years of use (and hungry carpenter ants). I was hoping to get one more season out of the frames with minor repairs. Using a pitchfork to turn the soil damaged two other frames to major repair status, so now it was time to see what the tiller would do. Happy dance!!! The 7.5 inch tilling width is perfect for the raised beds. The tiller is super-easy to control, and because it pulls the soil *back*, my poor creaky beds will make it through the season. If you are looking for a tiller to do a large garden or lawn, or if you have an aversion to using a wired tool, this may not be for you. If you are looking for a great little tiller for small spaces that's light, quiet and easy to handle, this is your answer. Disclaimer: I purchased this tiller at Amazon's posted price. Overall, it's a pretty good value for those looking for a cultivator. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a entry level cultivator/mini rototiller. Assembly: Easy, a few screws and you are ready for action. Included instructions are clear and easy to follow. Please note the cover that goes from the handle to the motor unit may be a little difficult to put in, but with patience and finesse, it will go in despite seeming to be misaligned. Use: Pull the trigger and go baby go. Speed of the blade rotation is underwhelming, but it does the job, saving you a lot of time in prepping your soil. Please note, users with rocky soil or harder soil may have to deal with items getting stuck between the plastic body and the blade. It will make a terrible grinding sound and you have to manually clear it, as there is no reverse on the machine. Overall: Good buy, function is acceptable and despite the power issue, gets the job done at a fraction of time doing it with a shovel

This thing is perfect for a home gardener. It's easy to manage and has plenty of power. It makes planting things so much easier. Cultivating the soil makes it so much more fertile for planting. Another thing I use it for is planting small trees. My wife had about a 25 gallon cherry tree. I used the cultivator to break up the ground where I was planting it. I would break up the ground, remove the soil, then break it up some more, and remove that until I was at the depth I needed. It was much easier to dig the hole with the soil all loose. I love this thing and use it every year.

I’m 71 years old. I need light weight lawn care equipment. This corded tiller/cultivator was perfect. Easy to assemble. Easy to control. Quiet. Did a fantastic job scuffing up a few inches depth of topsoil over a 200 square foot area. End result was an area quickly prepared for planting grass seed. I’ll have few other uses for it around my home which is why a corded version works best for me.

I was leery with some of the other reviews but this thing is great. It’s a lot like a dog on a leash that is trained to dig where you want it too. Very little effort if you are just patient and let it do it’s thing. I was worried about other comments with plastic gears and noise. If you overload or ask it to do too much a clutch kicks in similar to on a cordless screw driver. This happened for every root and some rocks. Like most tillers it digs up on each side and leaves the middle untouched. Doing stripes or crisscross eliminates the issue. In my use case, there was a 16” strip on each side of a fence I had installed. It replaced a hedge and between the stump grinder, fence installer, and the fact it was muddy made quite a mess. Fast forward six months to when I finally want to seed it. Now the ground is dry and packed. There were high spots and low spots, drop offs where the stump grinder ground up grass, and clay piles from the post holes. This little tiller did 250’ of this with no complaints, tilling through established grass and dry packed clay. It would have been easier in places if I would have watered and come back. Long grass winds around the tines and stops it. Some places I was 6-8” deep, others I just ran over the grass to help with over seeding. Often I went through grass to make it easy to level out. Was able to get right up against fence boards without hitting them. So glad I picked this over the bigger version. Only real drawback is that you have to set it clear down on the ground when you put it down. Kick stand would be nice.

Pro's: - Lightweight - Easy to maneuver - Great for small garden jobs Con's: - Gets jammed on even light roots - Not for big jobs If you have a small garden patch to till up that does not have many rocks or roots, this would do the job just fine. I like how light it is, and it is very easy to maneuver. I used this to till up my lawn to make some new garden beds. It was perfect for this small job. However, if you have a large area to till that also has some rocks or heavy roots, you are going to want something a bit bigger than this. This tiller got hung up several times on very light roots. It just lacks the power to cut through very thick materials. Overall, I would recommend this for light gardening work since it is very easy to maneuver. It's perfect for small spaces. If you just have a few raised beds to work, this will suit you just fine. There's no need to buy a more expensive tiller, if you are only doing light work in a small space. Love this little tiller. Super easy to put together. So easy to use. I have recently retired and my flower beds had not been properly taken care of for a few years. This little dude tore through the hard dirt like it was nothing. There were some vines wrapped around the tines but that did not slow it down a bit. It did jam with a big rock got stuck but , wedged that out and it kept working like a champ. Light weight to use for us older folks and does a great job. Just tilled in some compost a few days ago. I am very pleased with the depth this tiller. Has way more power than I expected. And it’s electric so runs quietly.

It works very well. Does a great job of breaking up tough soil. Save a lot on manual labor!

It was not mentioned in the product details that it works on 110 volt electricity, and I bought it on the basis that it was 220 volts, like most modern devices, and also not 50/60 h, but only 60 h, which makes it impossible for me to use it at all.

This machine would be ideal except it is. 120 v no good for england

Very easy to assemble and appears to be solidly constructed. Perfect for/ tilling/weeding in established flower beds as it is narrow and,light weight and easy to manouver around plantings..For heavy tillng of new beds you need a wider unit with large tines to get down deeper and at least a 12 +amp motor .I use my Mantis tiller along with the Earthwise and for me it's a perfect combo.. If you map out your bed design in advanc e you wil only need the heavy duty tiller once or twice The earthwise will be your constant companion. Great kit !
