Amazing for everyday miniature painting. This was a cheap and amazing purchase that helps preserve paints and doesn't cost a ton. Is it necessary no, but it does save time and makes your paint mix well in a fraction of the time.

Although this is not a perfect item, it will indeed help with getting paint mixed with a lot less hand shaking of vials and jars. When combined with a stainless steel mixing ball, it actually does quite well. It did better on the thick Citadel base paints that I thought it would. And allowed for better consistency of mixing with the metallic paints such as the Tamiya. For the price it will definitely decrease the work of keeping paint mixed prior to use and painting miniatures. Definitely worth $25. Takes a few minutes to get used to the best way to sit the jar on the actuator on top of the mixer but once you get the hang of it it works great. Very easy to use. It looks very durable as well. It is small enough to fit in my portable paint kit that I take on the road. The ad on Amazon actually shows the jar of stainless steel mixing balls, but it is not listed as what is in the box. However it does come with them.

I already had a bigger magnetic mixer by Intllab and have been very happy with that, so when I needed a smaller mixer for mixing paint in test tubes, I figured why not give this one a try. It's quiet, and seems very well built; I need to thin acrylic paint in fairly small batches for painting small items, and this makes it super simple. I just put my paint, water, and a little steel ball in a test tube, cap it, and push the test tube into the top of the mixer to activate. I have well-mixed, thinned paint in a snap. I appreciate that it also is a compact design so it was easy to find a nice little nook in my workspace where it can be permanently placed. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this mixer.

I bought this with my own money for our unit because I was tired of mixing zosyn and banging it in the walls and counters (iykyk) it was well worth it. You don’t have to use the included ball bearings. It gets the vials moving in a circle even if enclosed. It’s held up with daily use on our small unit for a couple months now, I’d say it’s worth the $$$

My son referred me to this since he has one and uses it all the time for his model paints. I'm using for my crafting paints. Excellent item.
