Westland Citrus Potting Mix 10L

I used this when repotting a fairly large fig tree (around 1.6–2m tall) into a bigger pot, and it has worked really well. The compost is designed for citrus plants but is also suitable for other fruiting plants. It has a well-balanced mix (typically including loam, sand/grit and organic matter), which provides good drainage while still retaining enough nutrients. This is important as fruit trees don’t like to sit in overly wet soil. After repotting, the tree did show some initial stress (a few leaves dropped), which is normal, but after a few weeks it settled well and is now growing properly again. I also like that it doesn’t require excessive watering — it drains well and avoids the soil becoming too heavy or waterlogged. Overall, a good quality compost that supports healthy growth, especially for fruiting plants.

I use Westland citrus potting mix for my lemon trees and I’m very happy with it. It has the right balance of nutrients and soil structure. It also drains very well because it contains perlite and Seramis granules, which help prevent the roots from rotting. It also contains zinc and is peat-free, which is great. I have used other composts in the past, but this one seems to be the best for my needs.

I bought this Westland mix specifically to repot a young avocado plant that I’ve been propagating from seed. If you grow Avocado or Citrus, you know how sensitive their roots are to sitting in soggy water, so getting the drainage right is everything. The soil texture is excellent. It’s nice and airy, and you can actually see the bits of granulated clay mixed through it. This is a massive plus because it keeps the soil loose and stops it from compacting down into a solid brick when you water it. I gave my plant its first light watering after potting, and the drainage was exactly what I wanted to see - moisture retention without water logging. My avocado hasn’t shown a single sign of transplant shock, and the leaves are looking perky and healthy. It’s a premium mix, but for fussier plants, it’s absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

Good but too expensive

Lemon plants 🪴 doing well, not sure how good all these special soils really are, but I've got lots lemons and loads more flowers, So I'll say it was worth buying 3 bags, costly, but so were plants, and they look great.

Soil looks good, my little steam of finger lime seems to like it. There is no odor or bugs at this present moment.
