Jurassic Park - Blu-ray + Digital

Tonight I finally got around to watching the re-released and updated version of the first Jurassic Park 4k equipped with Dolby Vision and a Dolby ATMOS soundtrack. They sure made a difference over my previous copies, much more than I ever really expected. I am the type who really does hate to have to double dip, but this time, and for the other new releases that have come out and are in my soon to be viewed future, I am glad I did. There are very few who have not seen this movie and, therefore, don't know the summary of it, but this Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Richard Attenborough, Jeff Goldblum & Samual Jackson dinosaur classic successfully started a major franchise that has not seen its end as of yet. Invited to an island where dinosaurs have been successfully cloned via mosquitos caught in amber, the island is full of dinosaurs both harmless and terrible. The movie is both exciting and, at times, heartwarming. Now for the important stuff....the video quality clearly surpasses previous releases. I was amazed at how even the smallest details were clear and precise as could be. Not just individual leaves and trees in the island's foliage, but every skin blemish, wrinkle and hair on any of the characters or dinosaurs was clearly delineated. Colors have a fresh appeal and beauty to them that, when compared to older releases, are like taking off poorly focused glasses. There is a true freshness to each and every scene. The older releases could only be classified as being opaque when compared to this newest of releases. The ATMOS audio also provided a big jump in quality for the home theater. There were many discreet foley fx placed about the room when appropriate. Overhead speakers were well used to enhance ambiance and even more foley fx. Dialogue has always been pretty distinct and clear and it remains so for this newest release as well. I still have all the others to watch, sooner than later.

1993, the movie 'Jurassic Park' was the talk of the town including everywhere in the world. Animatronics dinosaurs, life size dinosaurs were also created and built by Stan Winston & his team. Eventually won an academy award for BEST VISUAL EFFECTS. DTS, Digital Surround Sound was created for this movie, which won 2 academy awards for BEST SOUND and BEST SOUND EDITING. Dinosaur roared and its calling were masterfully created by the Sound Effects team. Music Score by John Williams, has created many phenomenal memorable themes in Steven Spielberg's movies, John Williams brought an inspiring score that captured the beauty and horror at the same time of the dinosaurs! Production Design by Rick Carter created the main building with the exterior that looks like a temple and its interior that would feel like a dinosaur theme park, dinosaur skeleton hanging from the ceiling that tracked along a spiral staircase and also murals on the walls. A cast of actors that performed well to create the warmth, tension, suspense and excitement which include Sam Niel, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sir Richard Attenborough and child actors Joseph Mazzello and his older sister in the movie, Ariana Richards. The Main Dinosaur Star was the T.Rex, horrifying beast with small hands, large strong jaws and the stumping sound that was really awesomely frightening. Velociraptors which played a major role in creating terror and havoc, chasing and tearing anyone in sight were well crafted. Steven Spielberg, masterfully directed this movie, which I considered the BEST in the series, a classic sensational masterpiece as Dinosaurs came alive seamlessly for the first time in 1993. Jurassic Park 4K UHD delivers crisp pictures and experiencing DTS Surround Sound that brings the Live Action of the Roars in front of you! Dinosaurs will be in extinction once again after 'Jurassic World Rebirth' as it would be drawn to a conclusion to the series of Jurassic World! Universal truly spared no expense in this release. Video Quality: The 4K HDR transfer is nothing short of stunning. Fine detail, natural film grain, and lush color grading breathe new life into a 30-year-old classic. Black levels are deep without crushing shadow detail, and the HDR highlights (lightning storms, flashlights, and of course, that T. rex breakout in the rain) look spectacular. This is easily one of the cleanest catalog restorations I’ve ever seen — it really feels like a modern film without losing the original texture. Audio Quality (DTS:X): This is where the disc becomes a demo-worthy flex! The DTS:X mix is loud and dynamic — at reference level (0.0 dB), it hits harder than most Atmos mixes, so depending on your preference, you may want to dial it down slightly. That said, if you want to feel the roar of a T. rex shake your walls, leave it at reference and let your system do its thing. Unlike Dolby Atmos, which is held to stricter consistency standards, DTS:X often takes more liberties with height and surround channels. Here, that’s a good thing. The overhead cues during the storm, the jungle ambiance, and the sweeping score all wrap around you with aggressive placement and immersion. On a properly set up 7.2.4 system, it’s nothing short of thrilling. Fun Fact: Steven Spielberg himself was an early investor in DTS, and Jurassic Park was the first movie ever released on LaserDisc with DTS audio. Absolutely outstanding documentary about the dangers of hiring programmers who cut corners. Lessons learned: Spare no expense except on security, redundancy, employee training, and basic risk management.

I have been a fan of Jurassic Park since I was a kid and the new 4K Ultra HD Digital version did not disappoint! The picture quality is absolutely stunning, and the sound is top-notch. Demorei um pouco para avaliar mas aqui estou... Eu recebi dentro do prazo certinho, veio tudo bem embalado e bem cuidado aqui. Abri e testei e vi que a qualidade nesse disco é surpreendente, sensacional mesmo. Não tive muito contato com o 4k mas vendo esse aqui, percebi que fizeram um excelente trabalho tanto na imagem quanto no som dele que usa o DTS:X e no segundo disco que é o blu-ray também está muito bom (imagem e som). Para quem gosta do filme e aprecia vale a pena e vale cada centavo. Esse é meu filme favorito top 1 da vida e ter ele aqui me faz muito feliz mesmo. Comprem tranquilo que vocês vão se surpreender.

This story of a mega-successful movie has been seen by most, so I won't describe this, but what puts this Blu-ray rendering above the superior standard of most is the sharpness of the images, wide palette colours and with superb sound. My Toshiba is an older (2013) 32", and I have a 2.1 audio, but this movie is THE best quality. And I have over 155 disks in my library. It looks brilliant, even on my bog-standard telly. It is the best technical-quality movie I have ever seen. The only other superior transformations of this level of quality are the movies 'Gravity' on DVD and 'Titanic' on Blu-ray. And 'Jaws' on DVD. My Sony Blu-ray does a great job of upscaling DVDs. I bought 'Gravity' on Blu-ray and I could not see any difference between the DVD and Blu-ray disks. If you watch the streamed version of this movie, it is noticeably grainy at times. Something is overly compressing the video file to send it across the internet.
