A shinglers dream
I'm a roofer and have been for a decade now. I've always seen (and used) tinners snips or a hook blade for cutting shingles and so does every other roofer I know. Well I got real tired of the slow cutting speed with the snips being that they're like sisscors and aren't spring loaded, and the inaccuracy of the hook blade always frustrated me so I had to find a better way. Low and behold I found these which claimed to be tough enough to cut shingles. I excitedly bought them, and boy oh boy they weren't kidding. These things slice through shingles like a hot knife through butter, and they work exactly like a pair of sisscors, easy to keep them straight while cutting, and the spring action increases the speed of those cuts by quite a bit. I haven't had to sharpen them yet, but I'm sure that will be easy as well. Anybody that works with shingles or other construction materials that require cutting should have a pair of these. They work really good for vinyl siding and j/f channel as well!

Replaced an old pair I couldn't sharpen
The handle lock is a little tricky but not bad. Great little multitool for the garden. Great for opening large bags and trimming flowers.

Had to reinstall the handle lock
The locking section on the handle wasn't installed right its made of a tough plastic I reinstalled it works fine was easy to do. Just hope it last. Otherwise a fine tool.

Super multi purpose from ventilation sheetmetal to kitchen shears!
I like they are multi purpose! I gave a pair to my AC contractor brother. He loves them and is his current go to tool for cutting sheetmetal in tight places. I used them to cut my ducting for my microwave. Now they hang on the mag strip for kitchen use. They are great for cutting dried meat treats for dogs that are too hard for our heavy duty kitchen shears! Even tougher than poultry shears for cutting through bone! I Totally love them! One thing though.. my brother lost his lock close button. Try to keep track of that.

Must have accessory
These heavy duty cutting shears are well worth the price. Use them for cutting wire mesh about 20 gauge with no issue. They work best when cutting straight lines. Would highly recommend. Very well-made.

These cut through 1 layer of composite shingles like paper, but when you hit a double stack ...
Bought these to speed up a couple of roofing projects. These cut through 1 layer of composite shingles like paper, but when you hit a double stack section you'll need to use a little more grip. Still leaps and bounds nicer and quicker over using a hook blade. The blade is made out of some tough stuff, the little gravel pieces on the shingle can't nick the blade, its made out of some hard steel. The grips felt pretty nice and the built-in lock is also convenient for the tool belt / rig.

Good Cutters, Bad Blades Lock Design
Cutters do the job in slicing through materials. But the blades lock is pathetic. Within a few times, he plastic blades lock won't function any more. If they used the same blades lock mechanism in the previous version of Wiss cutters, there would not be an issue. But changing to the cheaper plastic has made it necessary to find your own solution to locking the blades. Won't be buying again with this design.

Medium duty tool
When I saw this tool demonstrated, I thought it would be a tool replacement for a number of my other tools. It's more like Super Heavy-duty pair of scissors. Nothing wrong with that! Works GREAT cutting thru the heavy, thick sealed-plastic wrap around products you buy these days (that destroys your best scissors!) If material is "thin" metal/sheeting/carpet, it will cut like a breeze! Thicker the material, harder it is to cut. Think it might work well for garden sheers, except for heavy branches. The tool is comfortably easy to handle; blade is sufficiently open to cut a 3" length each time. Haven't used this for many projects yet, so no idea how long the blade might/may remain sharpened. When I tried to cut something "too thick", noticed minor scarring on the tool, which may/may not have affected the sharp edge on the tool blades. But, for $15, think I can find many uses for this tool.

They cut well
The locking mechanism is poor, already inadequate barely staying in the groove and won’t be useful. It’s a simple fix Velcro cable tie it to keep closed after use. If you’re happy to do that after use buying on sale you can’t go wrong.

The best cutting tool ever!!!
I purchased this after a friend recommended it as one of the best tools to have in your toolbox. This is an amazing tool with a very sturdy design and long blades to seamlessly cut, I've been using it to cut computer boards and prior to buying this cutter I bought a smaller much less expensive cutter which felt as if it was going to break, not this one (I wish I had bought one earlier). The serrated edges help to hold onto the material you are cutting giving you more control and precise cutting. I haven't used any of the other functions but I'm sure I'll find a use for them. Get this! It's worth the money spent on it and will make all your cutting tasks easier, highly recommended.
