Review: Stunning Visuals - This DVD set takes you beneath the surface of the oceans, rivers and other places that water-dwelling creatures live and gives you riveting sights of all that dwell below. These DVDs are beautiful to watch and truly educational. My daughter enjoys watching the various creatures that the photographers and videographers follow. You learn so much about the various animals that call the oceans home and how they live and survive. It is truly gripping and my young daughter loves watching it. You get to see the struggles that some of the animals go through to surive, the things that they must accomplish and how they live. I loved every second of it. BBC creates such beautiful shows and this one is no exception. If you are looking for something that is both beautiful, educational and engaging then this is the DVD to get and watch. You will not be disappointed. Review: Very beautiful Series - the camera work, the beautiful way this is filmed and the excellent commentary make this a wonderful set for those that like nature shows. the 4K and HDR really make the shows look very vibrant and very enjoyable to watch. I did have one issue with all the discs my 4K blue ray set playing in my LG UBK90 player. The sound would not play on the shows but was playing on the intro sequence and the main menu screen. I called LG for help, thinking it was a problem with how the player was dealing with the audio on the disc. I have a sound bar with optical connection to the tv set. with the players audio output in the player's settings set to auto, no sound on the features shows with these discs, if the output was changed to PCM audio the discs worked as expected. The LG tech was not sure if it was my set up, a flaw in the players software or the way the discs were mastered by the BBC. I am not taking away from the rating or saying you shouldn't buy this in 4K, just putting out this little problem with my player and the work around used incase others have the same problem.

Stunning, amazing and beautiful
I fired up these 4k discs on my new 4k player and my old UHD TV. My socks were knocked off - clean across the house. Lauds to the BBC for shelling out for this project, and seeing it through with such brilliance and photographic genius. The UHD mastering is superb, and the narration by the venerable Sir David Attenborough is first rate. It is nearly mind-boggling to imagine all the hard work, endurance, technical skill, and production brilliance that had to have gone into this. This is a must see for all earthlings, humanoid or otherwise.

How did they get these shots???
Each episode blew me away! One particular episode showed a humpback whale and I've never seen one besides on YT videos and, by gosh, my jaw dropped and I was genuinely terrified and mystified by the pristine picture! This is what TV was made for, I think. Incredible footage and that's an understatement. There were points where it was literally hypnotic. I do wish I could give this more than 5 stars. Excellent series all around. Just really great stuff.

4k awesomeness!
I own 67 4k movies or documentaries and this is one of the absolute best, if not THE best. I love the ocean and all of life's incredibly unique forms of it and this set captures some awesome footage with lots to learn and amaze you. The ocean has so many intelligent species. I only hope our own species can stop the pollution we do to our oceans and land to save our planet's lifeforms from extinction.

Amazon Barcode Ruined Packaging
The stickers that are used to cover the UPC left behind a sticky residue and ripped the slip cover. The blu-ray contents are quite good are as expected. Overall, I am disappointed by the condition it arrived.

The greatest nature series that the BBC has ever produced
When original “Blue Planet” premiered in 2001, it was the most expensive nature documentary series ever made exploring planet’s oceans. It was brainchild of filmmaker Alastair Fothergill who convinced BBC to spend $10 millions. The investment paid off and drawn huge number of viewers to the series. BBC’s natural History Unit then followed it up with Planet Earth—an even more ambitious and more successful show that became blockbuster. More shows then followed - Life, Frozen Planet, Africa, Life Story, The Hunt, Planet Earth II, and now Blue Planet II. While “Planet Earth II” followed “Planet Earth” by a decade, “The Blue Planet,” the original installment of the BBC NHU’s documentaries, debuted almost 20 years ago. Needless to say, the technology available to filmmakers covering the natural world has made leaps and bounds since then and Blue Planet II is another staggering visual accomplishment, following on the heels of 'Planet Earth II. When I saw Planet Earth II last year, I thought that BBC’s Natural History Unit has perfected art of perfect natural documentary. But Blue Planet II proved me wrong and they surpassed their own standard of excellence. This series is divided in 7 episodes: One Ocean, The Deep, Coral reefs, Big Blue, Green Seas, Coasts and Our Blue Planet. This Blue-ray set contains 3 discs recorded in 1080p (Full HD). Visuals are simple stunning, breathtaking and hypnotic. The sound quality is amazing. Series takes us through deep seas, coral reefs, green seas, open oceans and coasts and while doing so it also reveals new astonishing creatures and new extraordinary animal behaviours. It also shows how ocean health is under threat which is eye opening. They stuck the cameras into coral devices, they even strapped cameras onto whales and worm, they hung off speed boats to film dolphins, they capture sea lions teaming up to trap tuna and whale sharks the size of a small aircraft. The result is visuals are so unprecedented, it is impossible to not be awed by the - the size and scale of the ocean, its biodiversity and by the surprisingly efforts that animals go through to defend and raise their precious offspring. This series engages viewers both emotionally and intellectually and only thing I can say is you would not be the same after watching. At the end of each episode, one 10 minute feature “Into the Blue” shows behind the scenes and memorable moments. Sir David Attenborough, at age of 91 continues to be a marvel and still giving us such a nice documentaries and narration. There is no one like Sir David Attenborough for narrating nature documentaries; with his signature style British wit. Overall this series is about magnificent and jaw-dropping visuals, David Attenborough’s remarkable, warm, intelligent voice, and nice music from Hans Zimmer. Blue Planet II takes nature documentary making to another level. The BBC Natural History Unit has really outdone itself. This documentary is a truly sublime accomplishment, an epic achievement that everyone should watch.
