In the middle of a pandemic, something as “standard” as heartbreak and loss, as channeled by a true master, feels oddly comforting... and dang it, I NEEDED to hear this. Like yesterday. So I reordered here and now all is right in the world. Well, hardly. But this absolute tonic of an album does help a bit. A lot bit. While I still enjoy the raucous hits of Fa Fa and Hard to Handle and Tenderness and the like, where Redding shines, to me, is in these pleading, aching tunes. So an entire album of just that? Oh yes and please. The blue vinyl is as deep hued as the vocals, a nice bonus. And while I could do without the gimic of the intentional “ring wear” on the sleeve, the pressing itself is excellent. Great quality, nicely priced too. I find Otis timeless and the fact that the kids these days have embraced vinyl like it’s 1972 all over again,, well, it’s encouraging that less splashy artists like Otis might live on for decades and decades to come. Don’t hesitate on this one. Review: Gwan!!! Good Stuff... - Peeps... ALL THE SONGS are slow ballads and weepers, no upbeat Satisfaction crap or Fa Fa Fa Fa crap, just pure S L O W jams. Otis and players of instruments at their best. Gotta say, great sound on my mid level system. Blue vinyl was solid with no skips. "Yo man, I have all this s*** already, why hear it again?" Well, it IS nice to have a whole album of just slow jamz, some of us are die hard Slow Jam Nerds, whatever... Cool lookin cover as well... Wish they'd do this to Sam and Dave too (hint hint...). Keep On Truckin'

A Soul That's Yearning To Hold You
It's late at night and the soulful voice of Otis Redding fills the air. There's pain in his heart and it floats across the soulful horns, the blues-filled organ and the slow bass, guitar and gentle drum. From dreams to regrets, from pleading to desire, this collection is filled with yearning -- yearning for love, yearning to hold someone he wants to hold, yearning to be free. The producer of this collection has been quoted as saying that he "tried to find the saddest most potently heartbreaking songs [Otis] ever sang, with no regard for chart position or notoriety." He's come close; there's a ton of heartbreak in these songs. The theme of this collection reminds me of Otis' famous words: "These arms of mine, they are yearning, yearning from wanting you. And if you would let them hold you, Oh how grateful I would be." While no album, to me, surpasses the passion of " Live in London & Paris ," this is a fine collection to put on when darkness fills the air and only the light of the moon glows through the window. Sometimes sad songs can make you smile.

A Nice Collection of Mr. Redding's Blues Sides
This is a new compilation to mimic an old Otis Redding blues Lp. It even replicated the original yellow Volt Label. The jacket has that look of being stored with other Lps and therefore the simulated "Ringware". It is even pressed on blue vinyl! The sound is excellent! There is nothing new here all of these songs are available on other compilations but it is kind of nice to have a nice "Blues" package on classic vinyl.

Let Otis in -- to your heart
This is a sweet collection from the singer who, for me, was the king of soul. I cried when his plane went down in 1967. Indeed I felt Lonely & Blue. Most of the songs here have appeared on other Otis collections, but all are gems and a few are new at least to me. Open The Door-alternate ("...let me ease on in...or I'll bust it in) is fresh and irresistible as is the 'rougher' version of I've Got Dreams to Remember that I had never heard before and is not as polished ( in a nice way) as the first version first released in 1968 on the sadly but accurately named album, The Immortal Otis Redding.

Lucky for me it arrived on a Friday night - cold winter outside - obligatory glass of wine and the woman you love - good speakers and amp - 1/4 volume - one couldn't ask for more!!
