Latin for Beginners: Internet Linked (Language for Beginners Book)

Fun way to learn andvery informative.

Love that this is designed for kids to learn how to use Latin in everyday life. I bought this in conjunction with the Cambridge Latin course which is more stuffy, but very good. My goal is to teach my kids Latin before they hit puberty so that when they learn other European languages, they’ll find those easier. And if they become gardeners, florists, vets, doctors or lawyers, they’ll also have an easier time translating and understanding the terms! I found it so much easier to learn other languages after learning Latin at school, it’s a win win for us!

Useful book just for beginners like us

A well planned and clear introduction both to Latin vocabulary and sentence construction. It is suitable for Key Stage 2 children onwards. This text is a foundation for more advanced Latin studies and for modern European languages.

Seems fairly engaging but my son didn't get past page 3 🤣

As an adult beginner, you may not like this as a book written for children. It has bright, lively cartoons of characters speaking the same phrases that you can find in any beginners' conversational, modern language book, but in latin. But, if you want just fifty pages of simple, fun learning about how to say, for example, "do you speak Latin? Yes, I speak a little Latin", then this is the book for you. The website has some interesting extension information about the Roman world. As other reviewers have said, you won't get a thorough introduction to the language from this, but you will learn a little vocabulary and grammar. As an adult, you can have a little entertainment, and a break from the serious beginner books, and who says you can't? p.s. It is irritating when publishers advertise how you can speak the language on your travels, though. Okay use the same format as modern languages, but bother to change the advertising copy.

Excelente libro, no he encontrado nada igual para facilitar el conocimiento y la práctica del latín y sus conversaciones más elementales. Es un libro muy práctico y amigable.

It's an excellent book for inexperienced learners. It adds a lot of fun to learning, and Latin no longer looks scary, it's grammar is explained with the use of common everyday situations. Good job, the book is highly recommended!

Formidable pour apprendre aux petits latinistes de 5ème et sortir des esclaves et du maître cruel des manuels de latin. On parle, on dessine son hamster, son car, sa soeur et on s'amuse !

Very well organized book to start introducing Latin. Funny pictures, short and to the point, includes nice tips at the bottom. The weblinks were not so helpful, but a nice extra. Bought this to start introducing the language to school kid who will start Latin. I can certainly recommend this book!
