These were easy to install and have been working very well. This was my second set I purchased. My fences were ready to blow over and I got these installed 2 years ago and still working great! Strong material, stability is great, thick metal. They look good, because they match so well to my fence, you do not even know they are on there. They are painted, so not rusting at all.

Pros: Quick to install. Took me about 30 minutes to install two. Cons: More difficult to install in very hard or rocky ground. Durability: Appears to be durable if you have hard, compacted earth. Time will tell. The bottom stake goes a good 16"" into the ground. I got mine turned wrong and had to use a crowbar and a lot of muscle to pull it out, so I think it should last quite a while. We do have very hard clay earth on a limestone bed here, so it's hard to dig more than 6" down without mechanical equipment. I really had to beat the the stake with a 10# brick hammer, and it still took a little while. I never could have done this with a regular hammer. DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE: There are instructions, but here is what you need to do. (1) Get the downpost of the fence at a 90° angle to the ground. I used a long metal rod to prop it up on the opposite side, or you can have a second person hold it in position. There is a small level included, but it's not worth much, so I used my regular level. (2) Take the piece that bolts to the post and attach it to the post according to the provided instructions, but don't bolt it tight. Make sure the two bolts are facing up and the bottom is seated on the ground. (3) Visually line the stake up so that the slots in the stake will fit over those two bolts that stick up. I got my stake too far away and had to remove it, as I mentioned above. (4) Now you're ready to pound the stake into the ground. If you hit a big root or a rock, it will knock the stake out of alignment with the posts if you continue to hammer. This is the hardest part of the process, as if it is off-center, it will not fit down over the slots in the bottom of the post-holding piece, and you'll have to pull it up, which is very difficult. (5) NOW you are ready to put the nuts on to join the two pieces permanently together. If you are using a power drill (as I was), then go SLOW, as once the nut is completely tight, that drill will pull your hand around clockwise and smash it into the post. Don't ask me how I know......ouch! I was very skeptical at first. My fence is a stockade-type, and it's 6 feet tall. It's 20 years old and the wooden posts have never been replaced. One of mine was "swinging" in both directions, and I first thought I might have to put a support on each side. However, once I got the bracket attached, it was very sturdy and I am very happy with the result. I hope it holds for a good long time as the expensse of replacing that entire fence line is several thousand dollars.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this, but it was easy to install and even came with a level, drill bit, and drill attachment. It's nice and sturdy, and it's should hold for a while. I'm very happy I don't have to replace my whole fence for a few years. The contractor that helped me apply it was very impressed. He just needed to provide the drill.

Your odds of pounding in a one-piece repair stake and getting it vertical and snugged up a wobbly post are pretty low. If you're not happy with the first attempt, then removing it and trying again is just going to make the ground soft where you want it to be hard. This product comes in two pieces and provides two ways to compensate for a misaligned stake. It comes with all the needed mounting hardware and tools you'll need for installation. Well worth the money.
