SUREFIRE=EXTREME QUALITY
As the name Implies this is an amazing EDC light very versatile in my opinion, Don't let the 5 lumen low output fool you.. its just right if you need low light when needed,The TIR lens just provides the ideal amount of throw and spill beam, Coming from my experience from switching to a streamlight 2LX(500 lumens as well) to this Surefire EDC 1 the surefire has a more natural lighting, Is more compact than any possible competitor, extremely sturdy 2 way clip, and finally it is not a click type tailswitch, momentary on and off just makes more sense with this type of light(twist the tail cap if you want to keep it on), It makes its purpose more versatile. I will be posting an update with pictures and comparisons with competition but just take my word I was hotly debating to my self if this light was worth the money, IT IS WHEN YOU BUY A SUREFIRE YOU KNOW YOU'RE GETTING QUALITY

Excellent flashlight. It just needs one thing...
If you're familiar with Surefire flashlights, you probably know they've been making flashlights for a long time that have two-stage pressure switches -- press a little bit for a little light, press all the way for full blast. If you want the light to stay on, you screw-down the tailcap instead of pressing the switch. This flashlight is the newest iteration of this concept, and it works very well. It also has an optic that allows the light to spread-out more than older Surefire flashlights, so it's more of a "flooder" than a "thrower" -- and that's okay, because unlike older models, it makes enough light on the high setting that it doesn't *need* to focus the all the light into a tight beam to illuminate things far away. However, the tailcap is a bit too narrow, and the bi-directional pocket clip (which is a nice thing to have) interferes with getting a good grip on the tailcap when operating the light one-handed. So I stretched a 16mm OD x 5mm CS o-ring over the tailcap and settled it into one of the grooves on the tailcap, to give myself a larger surface to grab with my thumb and forefinger when trying to twist the tailcap one-handed. It's much easier to use this way, and the o-ring fits so tightly it can even be used as a "cigar ring" if you want to hold the flashlight between your index finger and middle finger. See attached pictures. Would buy again.

SureFire light. Always a solid choice.
It's a SureFire what can I say. A tad bigger than I was expecting (about 1/2" longer than an E1b gen 1) this light is a great option for carry but it's going to take up some space.

With all the EDC choices out there, this is a solid buy!
SureFire lights are top notch and well constructed. My light was shipped out and arrived very fast. Owning numerous SureFire lights, I find this one to fit in the pocket very comfortably and with easy access to pull it out on the weak side of my firearm. Videos on YouTube show the light in depth from the 2018 shot show. The length and diameter of the light makes for a comfortable yet tactical carry light. The bezel will not tear your hands or clothes up, like the defender series. The dual stage tail cap is very nice, with a soft push to get a useful 5 lumens for non blinding situations. Push the tail cap all the way down and it is a blinding 500 lumens with plenty of throw and a nice spill of light. With a twist of the tail cap, you can have constant on, if you were to need it. The pocket clip is very sturdy to wear with jeans yet forgiving enough for dress pants. The pocket clip is also designed for bezel up or down carry. The light comes with 1- cr123a Surefire brand battery. Very pleased with this new light.

Defective flashlight and refund denial
Returned due to receiving a defective product that was marked as used but in good condition. Seller falsely claims they received an empty box with no flashlight inside. Beware of this seller if you value your money.

Just buy it, you won’t be disappointed!
Bought this to replace an older Surefire E2L that was my edc flashlight. I couldn’t be happier! I like the size of this light, small enough to fit in my pocket comfortably but big enough to still feel like a flashlight in my hand. I thought I wouldn’t like the new half push for low and full push for full (the E2L clicked once for low and twice for high) but it has grown on me so quickly I actually prefer this. The low is perfect for finding things in the dark but the high is plenty bright for lighting up my backyard. Couldn’t ask more of a light this size. The quality is what you would expect from Surefire, top notch and solid. Love this flashlight!

UPDATE 2023 - Definitely a different flashlight than my earlier EDCL1
First of all, my previous EDCL1 had a clicking tailcap switch and a different lumen rating, so my old review is obsolete. I do not totally agree with the twist-on/off philosophy, but I suppose at such a high lumen rating, leaving the thing on the high setting with an inadvertent click could cause dangerous heat. Removing the lanyard ring was way more difficult than YouTube people described and I wound up marring the flashlight slightly, but that's on me. I had to use a FILE to cut the ring off without further marring. I also followed reviewer Shawn Elliott's advice and bought some o-rings to make the tailcap easier to turn. I went one step further and put a smaller o-ring in the space vacated by the lanyard ring. I did this for grip and also because the edges of of the space are sharp. The bigger o-ring is clunky but so far it works. This flashlight has typical Surefire build quality and having used numerous offerings from Streamlight, Fenix, and Olight, I must conclude there is really no comparison. Surefire is professional grade. I'd rather not give them the business because of their shift towards firearm accessories, especially suppressors. But if you want the best, the search is over.

Worth It!
The perfect little light for EDC and an amazing piece of equipment for the money. The clip is very strong. The durability is solid. The 5 lumen press isn't a beam but encompassing as it illuminates your up-close surroundings oppose to throwing light, which is perfect for every day use. Now, when you do press or hold maximum output get ready. It's absolutely disorienting for anyone on the other end. No bad guy will be able to efficiently counterattack after a quick shine in their eyes.

The light feels so nice in the hand, very well balanced and grippy. I have the one cell version and it fits in my jean's pocket without any trouble. The beam has a yellow-green tint, visibly at 5 lumens but I don't have a problem with it. 500 lumens is great with a wide, floodier beam than Surefire's previous TIR generations. The tail cap is where the magic is. Press a little for low, press harder for high. Twist a little for constant low, more for constant high. It's a no brainer. However, the cap is stiff to press and stiff to rotate as well. I could perhaps replace the spring and lube the threads to fix these points. Made in USA. Highly recommended. Now I want the 2 cells version badly.
