this fan blows
The fan might work ok, but the software is on a mini cd, and there isn't an option to download the software from the internet. My laptop isn't old enough to have a CD player, so I don't have any option to enjoy the fan. There are some download links provided by other customers but none of them route to a live website. You'll lose a lot of time/sanity trying to get this gadget to play nice with your computer... I'll just send it back.

SUPER COOL "FLOATING" MESSAGES!!
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: I was worried at first since it comes with software that it might be difficult to figure out or program... WRONG! Super easy! Insert the CD. Copy "LED_Fan.exe" to your desktop or choice of location, so you don't have to use the CD anymore. Run it, and fill in up to EIGHT short messages, fiddle with the fade/rotation/cycle options for each. You can preview what the text will look like on the bottom left. Plug the provided USB - Micro USB cord into the head of the fan and then into a PC USB port, then hit the "DOWNLOAD" button. It doesn't show you that it's copying anything, but fear not - in a few seconds it will confirm the data has been transferred. Now just unplug the data cord, and plug the base of the fan itself into any USB, and turn it on (switch near fan head). SHABOOM, it's floating glowing green LED magic messages!! Comedic, inspirational, mantras, even advertising... it's all viable. DRAWBACKS OR ISSUES? Not really. Cool little device. The only downside is as a fan, it's nearly useless - but it's all about the visuals here, clearly! I definitely didn't get this because I needed a fan... Perfect running at a gaming area, computer desk, even a car! Very gift-able. Very cool looking, and a bit mesmerizing to stare at... a grand addition to any trippy cave!

Works as promised. Too noisy for use with video conferencing.
Works as expected and programming the message(s) was not difficult. Moves enough air that you can feel it while it's plugged into the USB port of your laptop. Noise is a little bit louder than expected and cannot be used if you are doing a video call from the computer.

Lasts about a few days
Fun toy - for a week or so. Bought two, one for home, one for work. The text display function worked on one of them for a few days, then malfunctioned. One malfunctioned out of the box. Now having two "blank" fans...

Gimmicky, but it gets worse
This was always going to be a gimmicky little toy. The construction of the neck is nice in that it is easy to bend and yet stays in whatever shape you bend it to, which is nice if you plan to point this thing at your face. The fan blades themselves are made out of some kind of soft plastic. They are a little more rigid than some of the floppy portable fans I have seen for sale in amusement parks, but they are of the same quality. The image comes from LEDs on a flexible PCB ribbon inside one of the blades. But here is where it starts to fall short of even the low expectations I had for it. For some odd reason the USB Type A Male connector is only used for power. You need to use a USB micro connected to the fan head in order to program the fan. I suppose being able to send data to a spinning body would be difficult and add to the cost of the unit, but I have seen it done before by using concentric rings for each USB pin/wire. And I am using the word “program” very loosely. It’s just a message box. That’s it. No other functions. Honestly, all I wanted from it was to tell the time.

Very funny and cute
I got the software by googling and downloading. Virus scans said it was clean so I installed it. It’s pretty simple to set up your display lines and load them to the fan. You can also program by individual pixels but I haven’t tried that. There’s an on/off switch on the fan that works by press/release. There are two small negatives: your text will appear using one of the 6 preset options, rotate one time if you so choose, then disappear using another of the 6 preset options. You can’t keep the text just rotating, it’s always a three-step animation; appearance, one optional rotation in either direction, then disappearance. I’d have been happier if it could just rotate without stopping. Also, the usb plug that powers the fan isn’t used for programming; there’s a separate micro usb cable for that. So you have to unplug the fan from running, re-plug it to program, program, disconnect, then plug it back up to run. Klunky. But it’s not meant to be efficient or have an optimized workflow, just to be silly. And it is, plus it actually produces a pleasantly cooling airflow.

QUITE A NOVELTY
This LED programmable message fan is quite a novelty. This fan can run from any power source and it displays up to 8 messages, The fan is help up by a coiled cord. It comes with a CD that can be loaded onto your computer. There are directions given on this CD and instructions on the back of the carton that explain how you can program messages or even design your own messages or drawings. After programming, you can plug the fan into a power source and read your message as it lights up with LED lights going around with the fan. It is real neat and fun to display messages with it.

fun and unique fan (stopped working after a few weeks)
This little fan is both functional and fun! The green LED lights make it stand out, and being able to program messages or draw custom designs is such a cool feature. I've had a blast coming up with different messages to display while the fan is running. It's USB-powered, which makes it super easy to use anywhere with a USB port. The breeze it provides is nice and refreshing, perfect for a quick cool down. Just be careful with the blades—they’re not too sturdy. Unfortunately, it stopped working after a few weeks, which was disappointing 😞. It's a great conversation starter and a unique way to keep cool while it lasts.
