InSinkErator EVOLUTION 0.75HP 3/4 HP, Advanced Series EZ Connect Continuous Feed Food Waste Garbage Disposal, Gray

I consider the InSinkErator Evolution series the best of the best. When our old InSinkErator 1/2 HP "Badger disposal finally wore out, we upgraded to this new Advanced series, with 50% more power and fully insulated. It is very quiet and it will grind almost anything. Although, I try to throw any food into the trash and not put food into the disposal. At least, since I stopped up our plumbing, 30 years ago, while doing the dishes on Thanksgiving Day. It's the plumber's busiest day of the year. The manufacturer calls this "EZ Connect" and it really is. It has the famous InSinkErator twist and lock mounting bracket under the sink. And the power cord isn't the old style "pigtail" with 3 loose wires that have to be connected to screws on the underside of the disposer. This unit has as separate cord with a plastic push-in connector to attach it to the motor. It simply pushes in and snaps into place. No screwdrivers needed. It has some very thoughtful details to make it very consumer friendly. I love the power of this disposer, knowing that I won't clog the drain if some food does in there. And I enjoy the quietness of operation. I can talk to someone at the sink without having to shout when the disposer is running. Overall, I am very happy with this disposer, and would definitely buy it again, if I ever had the need. And I would highly recommend it to family and friends.

I've been using Insinkerator disposals for decades. I recently purchased this one after the Badger unit that was present since my arrival at my current location, which was installed in 2008, began leaking (although I have owned their higher end units previously and had been considering an upgrade for some time). Particularly if you find it on sale, this upgrade is more than worth the splurge whenever you do change. Its operation is almost silent, it works great, and the feature I like most is the removable/replaceable rubber sink baffle, which can be easily cleaned in the sink or dishwasher. The Badger's is not removable and you have to clean the underside of the baffle flap by flap with a brush. This unit additionally has 3 stage grinding and a new style easy install cord (or direct wire connection if that's what you need). Despite its additional insulation, it's about the same size as the Badger and everything lined up perfectly, no changing or cutting of pipes required. The Badger is certainly a reasonable moderate price unit and the one I had, to its credit, hung in there for a long while. But this is just so much more elegant for really not that big a price difference to not at least consider.

Back story is I learned the hard way not to scrimp on a disposer - we had a rental house some yrs ago that had an old badger 1/3 hp that I never gave much thought - previous 20+ yrs was with disposers in rural Maine so just having one was a new experience. I don’t realize its limitations and got it jammed. After unjamming and spinning freely by hand, it still refused to run. So I replaced it with the next bigger 1/2hp. I was surprised at just how much better it worked. Then when we bought a house, it already had a 3/4 hp disposer of a different brand but still was a beast munching easily on chicken bones and all types of fruit and vegetable peels. Now convinced a good 3/4 hp is worth the extra expense. Fast forward a decade and we’re buying a new house. Asked builder to upgrade the disposer and I’d pay the difference. Unfortunately they buy in bulk so no choices on appliances. Ok, no biggie, I’ll upgrade myself - been there done that, can do it again!. Been here two weeks and definitely not thrilled worrying about every thing I drop into the disposer. The 1/3 hp moen is only fractionally better than the 1/3 hp badger since it runs at a higher rpm. Anyway, started my research and settled on a ISE 2 stage 3/4 hp as best bang for the buck - Costco had best price but it looks like a custom for Costco model, discharge is an inch or so lower and we got a straight shot so wanted a more compact model so discharge would line up better with existing. Best price was Amazon or Lowe’s for the 3/4 hp Advanced or Compact - both 2 stage. But figured to wait for the holiday sales. Sure enough Amazon posted the Evolution 3/4 hp for a good savings or actually about a break even when adding the stupid ez connect plug since it only comes with the hardwire connector. A shameful ploy by ISE marketing to squeeze out an extra bit of profit on these units. Anyway, 2 hrs or so to remove existing moen and install the new evolution, including the 5 mi trip to HD to get the cord. The marketing literature for the moen says it uses the same 3 bolt ez twist lock so I didn’t remove the sink collar. The only hassle was when trying to remove the lock ring, the whole collar assembly would turn, so I had to pry the lock ring against the bulge on the collar where the jack screws connect. Enough prying got the old moen to finally release. The plumbing is pretty new so I just removed the dishwasher hose, loosened up the discharge piping, removed the discharge nozzle flange bolts from the moen, and turned the other side sink trap a bit so the connecting tee would allow clearance for pulling off the discharge nozzle. The old unit simply slid off now. When I got the new unit locked into the collar, I just slid pipe nozzle back into the tee, turned the piping back to align, and bolted the flange onto the new disposer, then snugged up the drain pipe fitting at the tee. The disposer hose fitting was the same size so just removed the evolution’s sealing plug, pushed the rubber connector onto the fitting and tightened up the hose clamp. All seems fine. Filled sink with water and no apparent leaks. Initial runs have been smooth and exceptionally quiet. It feel robust, even with the outer plastic shell. It’s a bit lighter than I expected which made it that much easier to install. At 70, I’m not as strong or as flexible anymore so it was very pleasing to find it was easy to handle. So far I’m really happy with it. Obviously, time will tell how well it holds up. But I’m expecting it will outlive me!

I was bummed to have to replace my garbage disposal in the first place, but this is so quiet and efficient, wish I had done it sooner. It looked like it would be a tight fit but it installed nicely. No issues so far with operation, not that I’m feeding this guy a Turkey dinner every night or anything, and I’m a bachelor that occasionally hosts a few people and regularly cooks for 2. I was a little annoyed that it didn’t come with the power cord attachment, but all things considered, that was a negligible amount of money and if the old disposal wasn’t so… old, I imagine it would have had one I could have used. Didn't feel like rigging that myself when the last disposal was leaking and who knows how long that cable had water dripping from it. Yeah it’s heavy, so factor the cost of buying a 6 pack for the buddy helping you to hold it up into the price unless you have a cool wife.

Doesn't come with EZ Connect Power cord. If replacing a failed Insinkerator Badger 1/3 HP 187 model with the molded in power cord, you won't be able to use that cord unless you cut the end off and use the supplied 3 pin AC connector and wire clamp. The EZ connect power cable kit is the way to go. If installing in a stainless steel sink and you're going to replace the old flange and assembly with the new one, you're going to need plumbers putty for the top side of the sink drain. Everything else is included Pretty quiet, sounds much stronger than 1/3 HP. Stopper plug is stainless steel or chrome with a gasket around it, much nicer than the old black plastic one. Getting the plumbing to line up is pretty easy because the unit will turn as needed even when hooked to the flange assembly. 9 year warranty, Wow 3 stage cutting, Nice Hanging weight, about 18lbs Would recommend to a friend, would buy again even if this doesn't last long, it's really a solid unit

Perfect fit and really easy to install. Remember to buy the power cord when you get the unit. This brand assumes you will be using flx conduit but every home I have ever had always had a normal 120V switched outlet under the sink. Much quieter than the old one from the same company. Same power as the old one so this is a better design.

As advertised, this is a very quiet disposal. It works great, although we don't really challenge our disposals with much of the stuff some people allegedly put in their sinks. My plumber/ installer said this is the best disposal you can get, and I believe him. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend.

Installation was simple - replacing the same brand so it was a 30-minute job and was able to use some of the existing hardware. Initially was really nice and quiet, a noticeable improvement from the Badger1 it replaced. The splash guard leaves something to be desired. It's very stiff, and hasn't really loosened up after a couple months of use. The holes are too small to allow food of anything larger than a pea to go down (seriously, blueberries get stuck and back up in the guard), which is great for noise suppression but also terrible for drainage. I modified the splash guard to open up the hole in the middle and added some extra space to the slits up the sides. While it works better, it's still not great and seems to want to hold onto a lot of smaller food items that weren't an issue with the old unit. What this does is frequently causes the water and food to back up into the sink unless you give the flaps a bit of a nudge. Even with the disposal running there's not enough suction to pull it all down a lot of the time. I went through all the pipes and confirmed no blockages - it's 100% the rubber splash guard. Odds are I'm going to have to open it up a bit more but... Adding more holes and enlarging openings in the splash guard also means that the noise levels are noticeably increased. Not as loud as the old unit (or so I tell myself), but it sort of defeats the purpose of getting a "quieter" unit if you have to modify it to essentially make it noisier and work properly. I don't think the added size/insulation on the body does much in this department except takes up slightly more space. With all that said, it was still worth it for the ease of installation and it does do a good job with food (once you get it past the splash guard), but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost over the more basic units once you factor all this in.

Great purchase. Easy installation with separately purchased adapter cord. So quiet I hardly know it's on.

The device burned out (emitting heavy smoke) after 12 months of use

I bought my machine through Amazon and got it shipped to Dubai, but the machine ONLY operates with 110 volt electric current while all countries, except USA, run 220 volts. I connected the machine without knowing and it got toasted without being warned nor notified. Such companies who wish to sell only in USA should not allow their equipment to be shipped abroad because I will never waste more money on InSinkerator after what I have lost already.
