Can you turn the nightlight function off?

you can have it on all the time, or to come on when it gets dark, or you can switch it off, the switch is under the base of the unit. but you must remember to leave the actual plug/socket switched on at all times to charge the torch.

how long does the charge last once torch is removed from cradle

about 10-15 minutes, not a substitute for owning a 'proper' torch, but we have 4 of these in the house and they definitely have their uses. My young kids use them for reading lights when i turn off their bedroom lights for example.Happy with our purchase.
