The original Sonic games for the Sega Mega Drive/Mega CD are some of the greatest computer games of all-time. To finally have these games on one cartridge for the Nintendo Switch is a dream come true. And the end-result is truly a work of art. Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles (in its entirety!) are all here in their 16-Bit glory and all play like they should; fast, furious, responsive and utterly fun. But the titles are collected and reproduced with many options to make the experience truly versatile. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles AND Amy Rose can all be used to play through the main titles (Amy can be accessed via free download code that comes with the collection), there’s a choice of Anniversary mode (for new players who want a somewhat easier experience) and Classic mode (where old gamers can play the original titles as they remember), and there’s various sound and aspect ratios to choose from. Plus, there’s bags of goodies to indulge in, such as a museum featuring concept art, box art, soundtracks, live orchestral performances of the games’ music, animated cutscenes that bridge the games together, a reversible cover sheet for the game’s case, a 20-page art book and 17 Sonic Game Gear titles that can be accessed via free download. Sonic Origins Plus isn’t just an essential title for retro gamers and Switch owners. It’s a glorious celebration of everything that makes Sonic The Hedgehog so great!

Great game. It was fun playing some of the old sonic games. We are deployed and have a Switch 2 set up for the unit and was fun watching some of the younger members play the old games that I played as a kid. Surprisingly they loved it.
