So I picked this up because I like the idea of keeping some sprouting trays organized, not cluttering up my kitchen counter and really, because I love rolling around my sprouts and microgreens... really! I keep them out of the sun until they have a day or two of sprouting action going on. Then I like to roll them into the sunny areas near windows (but not to scorch them). I roll them around and even out to the patio to give them fresh air. I just love that. I love the individual trays that allow me to have the water collection tray that is just a bit away from the sprouting tray, so I won't have the roots soaking in the water. It was semi-easy to assemble. The instructions explain to soak the joint pieces in hot water. This will make the assembly much easier. My friend was setting this up for me while I was working on seeding the trays. He warmed the pieces up and was struggling with them. Once we stopped, really got some hot water (from the tap, we didn't heat up the water more than that) the assembly was quick. No issues! This little tray cart thing is nifty and I enjoy using it. I might find myself getting another one of these in the future. I got this during a lightning deal, so the cost value is totally worth it, however, I think this is worth it at full cost as well. Because they have very thin seed membranes, a heavy jar soak will suffocate them and make them clump. Instead, skip the jar entirely, put your paper towel liner in the tray, sprinkle the dry seeds on top, and just mist them with a spray bottle to sprout them "in place." You'll do yourself a big favor if you put another tray right on top of it because it helps hold the moisture in. If you don't, you're going to need to spray it many times throughout the day because the water will evaporate and the seeds will dry out. I came back to order another set (my 4th) and saw some bad reviews. 1) the elbows are difficult to put together even after soaking. Yes, they are - but they need to be so the joints are tight and won't come apart when moved around. Mine are still holding strong all these years later. 2) it's hard to get the trays out to water them. At least one review said "especially during the initial soaking, water slops all over". I don't do the initial soaking in the trays, I do it in a jar for the first 12-24 hours (depending on how organized I am - huge window...lol) then I put them in a small strainer with a wet paper towel over the top for another 24 hours and water them about 3 X in that window - or once if I forget - they still do fine ;) Once I put them in the trays, I stack the trays on top of each other on the top position on one of the stands. Don't worry about "squishing" the seeds, they do well when weight is put on them - google it. until they look ready to uncover and be put on a "shelf" (?) - lower level of the stand - on it's own. This typically takes about 2 days - when it looks like its more than a sprout and starting to look like it wants to stand up if it weren't covered with other trays. Once they're to that stage, I water them morning and evening. I take them to the sink and spray them off from the top and once there's a hefty root system, I spray from the bottom too. It was my first attempt, and I couldn't be happier. The trays are on the small side. I was a little disappointed w/that at first but now I'm glad. Once the wheatgrass has some length to it, it starts getting a little on the heavy side to take to the sink and spray twice a day (I'm not using soil). If it were a large tray, it may be difficult. This is the perfect size for me. I ordered another kit plus two more trays, it will be here tomorrow. I want to start a new tray out each day so I have 7 trays of wheatgrass constantly going, one for each day of the week. I grew 3 trays this time around, started them all at the same time. I started the soaking/rinsing last Thursday night in anticipation of the kit arriving on Friday. I used 2 cups of seeds and spread them out between 3 trays. It was a thick layer in each tray. I then stacked the trays on top of each other to put weight on the seeds and stacked the 4th empty tray on top of those and put a book on it to weigh the whole thing down. I spritzed it with a water bottle every morning and evening Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues. On Weds I put all the trays onto the shelves in the stand and let the get some sun. It was AMAZING what happened in 24 hours! I juiced the first tray on Saturday at about 3 1/2 inches of growth because I didn't want to wait, I got 1.3 ounces of juice. I did the next tray the next day and got 1.7 ounces, the 3rd tray today and got 1.9 ounces. I think I put way too many seeds in. Once they swelled up and started growing, it was PACKED. I'm experimenting with how many seeds to put in future trays. I'm using 3.6 ounces for the trays I'm starting now. Aprox 1/2 cup. I used the 4th tray for broccoli sprouts. The seeds are tiny so I put unbleached paper towel down first, it turned out great! I ordered the extra trays so I could use the for spouts and microgreens. I really liked using the tray versus the mason jar for sprouting. I'm having so much fun w/it, I'm pretty sure I'll end up ordering a 3rd kit ;) I soaked the plastic joints in hot water as directed but they were still pretty difficult to get together. I didn't mind, it solid once it's put together. I'd prefer that than something that falls apart because the joints aren't tight. If you don't have a lot of hand strength you may need help putting it together. Update 7/29/18: I ordered 2 more kits. One of them had slightly different (elbow joints?) that connected the pvc, they were MUCH EASIER to fit. I guess it's hit or miss which ones we'll receive w/the kit. I bought this specifically to sprout lentils for my chickens. It was pretty easy to assemble, got it done in about 10 minutes, make sure you soak the connectors in warm water or it will be much more challenging. I gave 4/5 stars because the first few uses the trays did not fit very well into the shelves which was more frustrating for me due to my sons kitty who seems to love snacking on my lentils as well.. she would climb onto the window sill and put a paw onto the tray and it toppled off a few times where I got to clean a bunch of lentils and water off the floor. After a few uses the tray will now sit down into the rack and is much more sturdy, although I still have a fuzzy terrorist who likes to snack on them at least they don’t all end up on the ground every time. I have liked this setup much more than using mason jars like I did last year, with 50+ chickens in multiple coops it’s easy to pick the tray up, walk outside and throw some into each coop for my girls to eat instead of fishing handfuls out of a mason jar!

The cart is a total waste. The components were not consistent size. It's nothing more than small PVC tubes of varying lengths. CHEAP! The trays are okay although one has already chipped on a corner. I'm using it because I don't want to go to the trouble of repackaging it to return. Chalk it up to experience ... one I won't repeat.

We have had ours since Jan 2021 and are currently using it today Jan 2025 and have no issue with cracking or breaking trays. The one thing we do have a problem with is there is no lights for any of these trays so we had to purchase some and no way to hang the light for the top tray, unless you rig something up yr self, which we had to unfortunately we lost those pvc pieces so I just set it close enough to my other indoor plant lights for now. So that's my only complaint. Other companies need to consider fixing this flaw. Growth rate is great, functionality is great,moisture retention without lids is not good but with lids much better. Size is good. And the only way to get lids is to order more trays or make sure the seed trays you buy has lids.

Where do I start? First, upon unpacking, some of the parts were DIRTY 🤔. Second, putting this thing together was not easy. Used the hints like heating the joint connectors but that was a fail. Had to use a mallet to hammer them (and I mean HAMMER them) into place which weakens the plastic. Third, during and after connecting everything, there's no way this will come out with straight angles so then the trays don't sit properly and its cockeyed. Fourth, the wheels don't stay snug so they have a tendency to fall out. Fifth, now that's you finally have this thing all put together you find that the holes in the trays are so big that even wheatgrass seeds fall through so now you can't even use it!! Utter disappointment and failure! Forget the paper that they include....worthless. So in conclusion, this is a waste of money unless you like throwing your money away. I'll stick with my four tiered kitchen sprouter kit for now.

I was nervous about this being a success for me because I have never grown fodder before. . I actually let it sit in the box for a few weeks before I pulled it out to try and make it for my chickens. I did not put the shelf together as I already have a shelf that they all fit on. I wish I had pulled it out of the box immediately and used it because the directions were simple to follow and I successfully grew wheat grass in all 4 trays for our 15 chickens. My daughter decided to cut the wheat grass and let it grow back instead of just giving them the roots and all when it grew the first time. We are ready to cut it the second time and then once it grows back for the third time, we are going to just give them the tray without cutting it and see how they like it. I may have to buy another set of trays so that we can give them one each day.

I have ducks and geese and wanted to try growing fodder. I decided to try these out, and after putting them together (which took only a few minutes), I was ready to try. I set this up in my laundry room sink and removed the green trays since I could just water the top one then let the water strain through to all the other trays then out the bottom and down the sink. Takes 20 seconds twice a day and I have beautiful, lush “grass” for them all winter long! I’m using rye and wheat seeds, alternating trays, and both grow great even in my unheated utility room. When a tray is ready (about 7-10 days) I just carry it out and set it down for the flock. They have a blast ripping it and eating it, and in a day or two when it’s empty, I bring it in, rinse it off then fill it with a light layer of seeds that have soaked for 24 hours. I move the trays down as they grow, so put the new one on the top, water twice daily and voila! Fresh grass and happy flock all winter long! This is sturdy and doesn’t wobble and fits perfect in my utility sink so I can just leave it there and water away.

It us a good product value for money. If you are starting your microgreens journey then it is the perfect one to start. I would definitely recommend it.

It couldn't hold the weight of two trays. And you can find other products on Amazon that are cheaper and more durable.

Grew wheat grass without any type of growing medium really well. Unfortunally, after harvesting it is really difficult to clean and get rid of the left over roots/stems.

Bought this to grow barley (fodder) for my chickens. It does take a bit to put together and I needed to use a rubber mallet to put it together even though I soaked the connectors in warm/hot water as suggested, it was still hard to do. I find the trays do not fit exactly into the stand, but maybe when the weight of the growing seeds it will?? The trays were smaller than I expected, but it does fit in the kitchen sink which will make it easier to water. Like it that it has wheels, so I can move the whole unit to the sink and doesn't take up alot of room in the kitchen.
