Dimplex MICROSTOVE Electric Stove

This is the second Dimplex electric stove I have bought. The microstove is not as powerful as my larger stove but I bought this size because it fits in in my smallish home. It is easy to move from room to room and I have been impressed with how much heat it throws out for a small stove. It is early days, as Winter has yet to arrive, but overall I am pleased with my purchase. It was good value for money. Easy to set up. Is a nice booster to central heating or just to take the chill off a room. It is an attractive, small fire. There is a degree of noise but I don't have a problem with that. I like having these heaters as back-up in case my central heating fails.

Title says it all really. It is a really nice looking small electric stove type fire, and fits perfectly in the recess left when boxing in the recess from an old gas fire, so in terms of size, it was exactly what I was looking for. The flame effect is really nice, and gives a realistic warm glow (see video). The fan heater works effectively for a small 1.2 kw heater, although is a little noisy, and you might have to crank up the volume on the tele if used in the same room, but to be fair, it’s rare to find a really quiet fan heater, and I didn’t buy it for the heating requirement, so won’t be an issue for me. On the negative side, as others have also mentioned, it DOES NOT come with a remote control, despite been listed in the ‘what’s in the box’ section. When I queried this, I was informed that because I bought mine on Amazon resale, they couldn’t offer a ‘replacement’, but in Amazon’s defence, did offer a partial refund of £16.27 to purchase one, and this is where it all got really complicated. Despite searching everywhere online, asking the question in numerous ways, I couldn’t find out whether a remote will work with this or not?!, or which remote I actually needed, even on the Dimplex web site. It was the same issue with trying to find out where the manual controls are, I simply couldn’t get a definitive answer. Some said on the front, some said on the side, and even the chat box on Amazon described the controls being ‘touch’controls on the front…….but just to be clear for anyone considering this fire as an option, the controls (which are traditional rocker type switches, one for the light/flame effect which can be used independently, and 2 further switches for the fan heater, high and low, which can only be used when the flame effect is switched on) are on the BACK of the fire, on the top right hand side as you look at the fire. This might be an issue if getting access to the switches might be tricky once the fire is positioned in a recess, for example, and need a remote control to operate it……if you can find one! Despite the above comments, I went for this model from Dimplex as a trusted and established brand, and it was the size I needed, and I’m pleased with the unit at the price I paid on the resale section, but wouldn’t want to pay much more……especially without a remote control!

I've wanted one of these for a while but struggled to find one diddy enough to fit in my gap. This fits the bill, and is perfect. The flame effect is really cosy, and the heater is so effective; really warms my lounge. I'd normally have my central heating on by now but this has prevented me from having too. It was a bit more expensive than others I'd seen, but then I needed a more compact one. Plus, it's Dimplex, so a name you can trust. The noise level isn't bad; of course you can hear it but it's doesn't impact the TV or conversation etc. I'd recommend it. A couple of issues initially as the first one I received didn't work, but the replacement process is straight forward. However, the replacement didn't materialise; lost in transit apparently. Anyway, third time lucky and it was worth the wait.

Bought this mainly because of the name and the compact size to fit our small fireplace. Really pleased we did because it is a little marvel and just makes the room extra special. Really can't fault it, and not only does it enhance the room, but it's like having a little friend nearby. Good to look at, very quiet, and puts out a substantial amount of heat when required. Even with just the flame effect, it is a real stress buster to look at, really quite mesmerising and calming. Highly recommended.

Excellent fire excellent make and model give a lovely fire affect if you want a small fire as back up One tiny thing that was a bother the lead is not long enough to the plug and according to the Internet you should never plug extension lead to a fire so I could not use it where I wanted to put it

Today is 8th January 2026, we bought this product on 2nd January 2025 and the heating element of the fire no longer works. it is guaranteed for one year so we are 6 days outside of it. (It stopped working before this but we didn't try to use it until the 8th. are we unlucky or is this a reflection of the product? Our previous Dimplex fire lasted well with occasional use but we will not be buying another one.
