How easy is this to carry around? Does it fit in any umbrella-style stroller base?

Excellent , lightweight. Have travelled extensively with this . Airlines allow as carry on luggage and stores easily in overhead compartment but usually check in with cases no problem with it being extra weight. Cannot comment on does it fit umbrella stroller base as it’s a car seat.

Has anyone compared it to the hifold, or maxicosi nomad?

Hi fold is a group 2/3 car seat. The Urban Kanga Uptown is Group 1 (9-18 Kg)

So this wouldn’t be any good for planes or coaches?

The Urban Kanga car seat requires a seat with a 3 point retractable seat belts. It is not suitable for use in airplanes. It may be used in coaches only if the coach seat is fitted with a 3- point retractable seat belt and only forward facing.

Does this meet the latest UK safety standard? As some boosters are now illegal.

This is a group 1 car seat for children weighing 9-18 KG. The difference is that seats for this age use an integrated harness while booster seats use the car safety belts only. The new booster regulation does not apply to this category as this is not a booster seat. The Urban Kanga carries European safety certification ECE R44/04 and is valid for use throughout Europe including the UK.
