Superb product
Our old letterbox was leaky and always made the porch very cold and damp. I looked into replacing ti but as per usual in my life the letterbox was non-standard and I couldn't find an equivalent so I filled it in and bought one of these. Brabantia are a good brand and their stuff is always good quality soI paid the little extra over other similar products. The box is very good in terms of build quality and was very easy to deploy on the front wall of the house. It comes with a decent sized slot in the top which has a cover on it, which is 'cushioned' so it doesn't make any noise when being allowed to drop back into place. I can usually pick up ny Amazon DVDs and parcels around the A4 size with some ease, and newspapers also seem to fit OK. I'd say that any parcel that wouldn't fit my old letterbox would not fit this so I've not lost any capacity. It is also completely waterproof and I've not yet retrieved a single soggy letter unless Postie left it out in the rain or at the top of his/her bag. In theory a child could get their hand in the top and get your letters/parcels, but just set it to a decent height and that's also mitigated asa threat. You get two keys with it as well, and the box provides the template you need for the hole drilling. It took less than 10 minutes to put in place. In fact it's very hard to find any fault with this product.

Slightly clunky to open the door, but otherwise a good product
Installing is not too onerous. The cardboard box contains some markers for the hole positions required, so you can cut the back off the box and use a bradawl or similar to makes holes in the cardboard and mark the positions to drill to take the wallplugs. Four thick plastic washers are included which lie between the box and the wall, thus giving enough clearance from the wall to enable the hinged lid to be lifted without grating against it. I suggest taping the upper washers to the correct position on the back of the box before you attach the box to the lower two washers you have already put on the wall, otherwise you will have a hell of a job trying to get your fingers behind the box and trying to get the washers in the right place for the screws to go through. Tightening all the screws inside the box with the Allen key is a little fiddly because of the lack of space to turn it. The box is fairly lightweight but seems sturdy enough, and it is attractive and capacious. The slot in the top could be just about wide enough for someone to potentially steal any larger A4 sized items if you are worried about security, but unless you were to have a much deeper box, or else a thinner slot which you wouldn't be able to put thicker envelopes through, I don't see how you could avoid this. The door lock is a little fiddly to open until you learn the trick - there is a slight depression just to the right hand side of the key slot which has a sliding cover, and you need to press the key first into that and then move it inwards and to the left to slide the slot cover out of the way so that the key can be inserted. The door is a little sticky to open - you have to yank it fairly firmly, so be ready to catch anything which might fall out. Pleased with it overall.

The box is good, but the lock is rubbish.
This postbox is supposed to be a quality item. The container itself I would rate as just ok but the lock is rubbish and has failed. The lock started playing up a while ago and now I can't reliably open/lock it. Further note that the opening is big enough for some people to put their hand inside to get the post out, which could be seen as another design fault.

Well constructed and easy to mount - and stops my dog eating the post
We've got a dog that used to bark at anyone passing outside the house and grab post and newspapers as they were posted through the letterbox. When we got a puppy to keep him company his behaviour got more extreme - I think he thinks he's protecting the house from invaders - and he gets really agitated and tries to destroy anything posted through the letterbox. I decided to buy an externally mounted postbox to protect the post and also to defuse the worst part of the dog's behaviour problem - attacking stuff that enters the house via the letterbox. I did some research and was initially put off by the cost. Then I found this Brabantia B110 on Amazon listed at a great price as a Used item under their Warehouse Deals outlet. I've bought from Warehouse Deals before - they are usually items that have been returned to Amazon and then quality checked before being sold as used. I've had no problems with the quality of Warehouse Deals items I have bought in the past and this time was no exception - there was very slight cosmetic damage to one corner of the packaging, but the postbox itself was in pristine condition. This weekend I mounted the postbox to the right of our front door. All of the fixings you need are supplied apart from a drill, a 6mm masonry bit and, if you want to do a good job, a spirit level. The rear of the packaging functions as a template for drilling 4 x 6mm holes into your wall - take care to get them level. It was a straightforward job to mount the box on my own. The only fiddly bit is threading the top 2 screws through rubber bungs into the wall while balancing the box on the bottom screws - it would have been a quicker to have a second pair of hands to hold the box steady while threading through the top screws. That said, it took 10 to 15 minutes to mount the box on my own. There is a flap that goes over the posting slot at the top of the box. It should provide protection from water ingress. I mounted mine in a position where it is also protected by a porch over our front door. I have to say that I'm delighted with the box. It does exactly what I wanted, it looks the business and it wasn't expensive. And, I am glad to say, we received mail yesterday that hadn't been franked at the canine sorting office.
